So sorry, suncloud, but I have to disagree with you. There is a ton of research out there that suggests that we need way more iodine than the RDA. Just as one example, there are many lifestyle factors that interrupt the assimilation of iodine like chlorine in the water we bath in, flouridated water, and flouride in toothpaste. As much as a heath-conscious person tries to avoid these contaminant

luvyuu- In my experience, I am dealing with a long-standing health issue, and have come back to a raw vegan diet, 100% at this point. I agree with what Tamukha stated about going the western medicine route just for a diagnosis. This is what I did. The MD who ran my ultrasound and bloodwork (I have thyroid challenges), suggested that I add ridiculous amounts of meat protein to my diet, making i

janabanana- many of the herbs you've mentioned have very potent medicinal qualities. in my opinion, they should not be used as food. they are nature's medicine, used to bring balance and restore health is specific ways. and so i believe they should be treated as medicines, and used as needed in the therapeutic quantities and combinations that are appropriate to the condition being addressed.

littlemermaid- The videos I was inspired by were of Victoria Boutenco! So good to watch... I would also like to read her newest books, as i agree with her about the importance of greens. I had been relying on wheatgrass juice for a long time for the green factor, which is good stuff, but now the green smoothies have definitely gotten my attention. I love your recipe ideas, as well as the other

This is such a huge issue for me. I have struggled for so many years with eating foods that clearly are not good for me. I've craved carbohydrates especially- bread, pasta, chips...oh and the list goes on. I've been vegetarian for 20+ years, and had always thought that my diet was pretty good compared to how most people ate.. but still it was puzzling to me why I never really felt like I was a

oh, thanks! That looks nice. I have a question, though.. It looks like different models do different things. Is there one that does both? "Spaghetti" and "lasagne" noodles? Am I looking at them correctly? I'm wondering if they have attachments you can switch...

The romaine was definitely easy to drink. Next shopping trip, I'm headed for more greens... thanks for the recipe ideas. A whole new world has opened up me. haha.

I am thinking about buying one of these. For the most part, I eat really simply, but I also want to be able to make a recipe now and then, and expand what I'm able to create to help me stay raw. (Day 4 of 100% today!! ) What I want is something that I can make spirals with, like spaghetti, and also I want to make really thin, long "noodles" with zucchini. I want to try and make a si

Thanks guys. I used some romaine today because it is so mild... couldn't even detect a green flavor at all .

Thanks PL, I did think of that, and alot of greens I'll have to avoid for now. It was an eye-opener for me to realize what exactly green smoothies even are, and that greens can be mixed with fruit. I thought they were just greens, which sounded awful. I might start by adding some romaine lettuce and see what that's like.

I've never been open to trying these before because it sounds like they will taste disgusting. However, I just watched a few videos, and it seems like maybe they won't taste so bad, and I can get more pure greens into my diet. I don't really like them very much, and aside from a simple salad that includes red leaf lettuce, and some wheatgrass juice, I don't really eat greens. I only have a reg

Mislu- Everyone makes their own choices, and lives their own life. Maybe you are placing too much emphasis on how others are perceiving you. Another person's comments or suggestions can never effect you. Only your response to them and their comments can make you feel bad. You are the only thinker in your mind, and you can choose how you want to respond to whatever is happening. Just make yo

I just thought of something else that is helping me... I've been mostly raw, about 90-95% for a few weeks now, and really have considered that such a huge accomplishment. Even though I just quoted my "percentages," I try not to use them all so much because they can be so judgemental and represent a failure to be perfect. I just plodded along, doing my best, sometimes eating the th

Oh Nicole... that sounds so much like my story! Hang in there...you can do it! I'm just getting started myself, again, and don't have many words of wisdom as I am still finding my way. However, I can tell you what has helped me, though. This is what I have learned: -Be gentle with yourself. -Don't give up. Keep trying, tomorrow is another day. -Read about the benefits of raw food,

Hi rad gal- Well, if it were me traveling on the road for a few days, this is what I'd do: I would keep my meals really simple for starters, and I'd decide that no matter what, I'm keeping with the program. I'd also bring as many things as I could with me. If you dehydrate, you can prepare some things ahead of time. Some things like raw crackers don't need refridgeration. I'd get myself

Thanks everyone! Mislu- You have support here I'm recently on my own now, too, and I am loving the freedom. I hope everything works out well for you, and that your next chapter, whatever that is, will be the best one so far.

And I cannot get enough fruit. It's pretty much all I want to eat right now Also, I do agree with the statements above... even though this is working for now, I believe variety is best for the long term.

Wow. I did it! I feel like this is such a great accomplishment, and also so natural for where I've come in my life right now. It wasn't even hard to do, it just happened. And I want to tell someone!! Who would understand? Who would appreciate that? Nobody in my life, really, except you guys- which is why I decided to post this. I feel really, really good about it. It feels like I'm really su

ohhh.. brown rice milk. that's an interesting idea. I still have some rice around that I don't plan on cooking- maybe I'll try that. And I agree, seed milk is delicious. My current favorite is sunflower seed.

Wow. I am even more inspired. I've just completed 2 weeks of 90-95% all raw...and all I have so far are my before pics. But I know my pics in a few months are going to look great, because I already feel so much better. I think I'm finally letting go of my last tiny little hold on dairy- I was craving it like crazy, and in the past few days, it is becoming so heavy and not what I want at all. Y

"Raw food is not about austerity~ But rather the celebration of food in its glorious, natural state." I don't know who said this, but I just came across it when I was looking through a notebook with some of my raw recipes...

jj2011- Cravings are really challenging. Someone posted this link in another thread recently and it really helped me, so in case you didn't see it, I'm putting it here for you. One thing that I read there that stood out for me, was the idea that we all have a relationship with food, and sometimes we can love a certain food so much, but it doesn't love us back. Instead, it makes us feel really

Thanks, Paul. I do dehydrate, so that's a great idea. I've just discovered how easy it is to make seed and nut milk, and I have to say, I do really like it. So great- now I have 2 good ideas for the pulp.

rzman10001- I tend to agree with you about not taking a chance right now. I was sprouting my berries before fermenting them, and it tasted like good stuff, but who really knows what was growing in there. I think maybe I'll just keep my wheatberries in their little jar on my shelf for now.
