I used to eat quite a lot of dairy, up until really recently. Do you still think I might still be deficient? I don't know that much about b12.

You know I wish I had taken my temp early on, to get some perspective and see improvement, but I never did. Maybe I'll start now anyway, since the gland is still pretty enlarged. I feel like the symptoms have all gotten so much better, though. So, that's a good idea about smaller, more frequent doses. Do you think it matters if the coconut oil is taken with a meal or on an empty stomach?

Hey Powerlifer, I LOVE coconut oil. Strangely, I was totally craving it a few months ago, and was taking at least 4 tablespoons a day. I just couldn't seem to get enough. Soon I was starting to get concerned about all the fat, so I came back to this board, after a couple of years off, to see what you guys thought. That very thread that I started was where I met you and a lot of other great peo

and I think I'll have to supplement b12. I can only eat so much nutritional yeast (mine's fortified). btw, how much nutritional yeast would I need to eating, anyway?

I've never used those online food calculators. Hopefully it will be easy to figure out... Powerlifer, yes, I'm taking iodine and the particular supplement I'm using has selenium, so I'm covered there. I think sunflower seeds have a lot of zinc, which is my primary choice for seed milk. I probably have the equivalent to 1/2 cup a day. Maybe the nutrient calculator thing can figure out how much

This is really new to me to not be eating any grains, dairy or cooked vegetarian food. I feel really good, but it's only been about 2 weeks, so it's hard to tell if what I'm doing is providing everything I need. So, I'll tell you what my diet is like, and then can someone give me an opinion as to whether or not it seems balanced? I want to continue eating raw, it feels really good. breakfast-

suncloud, I had a thought today as I was drinking my protein drink, made from raw powders... When the protein source is whole, and not ground, we need to chew it, and therefore it is "pre-digested" as it mixes with saliva. However, when we drink it, it sort of bypasses that step for the most part, and doesn't allow the first stages of digestion to happen. It doesn't seem to both

I've heard about the almond flour, too. I might try that. Lately, I haven't discarded any. I've found some good uses with these ideas, and am not making quite as much milk... Thanks guys.

I've been supplementing with raw vegan protein protein powder, and seem to be digesting it ok. One thing that I did notice, because I've used it different ways to see what worked the best- was that if I mix it into a fruit smoothie, it doesn't go over too well. I get the brain foggies. But if I mix it with water, or even better, a little nutmilk, and don't have anything else for a few hours, it

Actually, this is good, flipperjan. You've asked some good questions. I've really never thought about juice potentially creating harm like that... interesting. I don't juice all that much, except for wheatgrass. However it's always stated to take those small shots on an empty stomach for maximum benefit. Anyway, interesting points, powerifer.

Thanks Tamukha. Actually, I don't really know him that well, so I think it would be a little weird to suggest that, but I appreciate what you are saying. However, we just met recently, and so there may be the opportunity to ask him about it at some point. I have just never really seen such mucky eyes is someone who otherwise appears healthy, and wondered if it represented some sort of organ di

oh really? This guys eyes were so muddy. He's not really that old, and doesn't wear glasses, and can see really well. Do cataracts impair vision? And one eye had redness completely covering the entire white from the inside of the eye to the colored part, like a giant fixed blood clot. He's interested in improving his health, and so this made me curious as to why his eyes looked like this. He'

I have a question about what this means... My eyes are not so bad, although they have definitely been whiter, and they will be soon, I know. But yesterday I met someone with such cloudy whites of the eyes, that really there was hardly even any white to detect. And there was a lot of blood/redness going all the way to the colored part in one of his eyes. When we were talking, of course I co

I'm going to guess that most of the fat from the nut has now gone into the milk, provided you have ground it pretty finely in the blender. I just started making nutmilk, and don't have a nutmilk bag yet, so I've been improvising. I've used a large piece if fine mesh netting that I got at the fabric store for $1, a fine mesh kitchen strainer, and recently I had the idea to try using a lingeri

Nice website, suncloud. My 11 year old has yet to get involved You bring up some good points. I only make enough to last a day or two, although they say it will last several days. But I agree, once something is blended up, just in exposing it to the air things change. The pulp has been good for a cracker base, but I can eat only so many crackers, so sometimes I just discard it. It's just

I actually ended up getting both of these products, because both looked good and I couldn't decide, and in my opinion, both are excellent. Sunwarrior is sweetened with stevia,is vanilla flavored, and is produced with very simple ingredients. It has a sweet, nutty flavor and mixes well. Garden of Life is wonderful as well. It's made from many different sprouts, has enzymes and probiotics, a

luvyuu- What you said about fasting I can relate to. I have always felt best during fasts (until now that I am eating simply, and all raw), and I have done many fasts over the years. In fact at one time I honestly thought that maybe I was allergic to food! haha. Not really possible, but it felt like it. Now I am realizing that perhaps the reason that I felt so good at those times, was because

I can attest to that. For the past several days I have been living almost exclusively on green smoothies and some supplemental protein mixed with nutmilk, and I have so much more energy! I believe the simplicity of my diet has not only been really easy on my digestion, but I've eliminated allergies and created a lot more energy for healing. I'll probably tire and get bored of this routine in t

And I am taking 12.5mg of water soluble iodine per day, which is 8333% of the RDA, and have noticed the same seemingly miraculous results as Tamukha, and much more. Seaweeds are a great source of iodine, and would be my preferred method because the other potential compounds present, which help with assimilation are in tact naturally. However, in my case, and perhaps the same with Tamukha, the

I've been making nut and seed milk lately, and it seems like it is just so much easier to digest that eating the whole nuts and seeds. Does anyone have an opinion about this? Am I missing out on anything (except fiber, obviously) by not eating these things whole?

Hey Janabanana- I understand what you're saying. That's one approach for sure. I guess what I was trying to say, was that herbal medicine, in order to be effective, needs to be treated as such- as medicine. It's one thing to add some herbal greens and roots to your smoothies, in small amounts, like the ones you've mentioned, and most likely gain some nutritional benefit. But if someone is aimi
