flipperjan- have you tried juicing the parsley? i add it to carrot and other veg juices, and it's a much easier way to get alot more down.

i agree with much of what kwan says about fasting. my own personal experience with juice fasting has always been extremely positive and rewarding. in fact, while i know that my body has become stronger by the way i feel during and after fasting, the best part for me is the mental clarity and heightened spiritual awareness that comes during the fast. i feel that most any good thing can be over

i appreciate all of these comments on this thread so much, and thanks helen, for sharing your story. it is very encouraging and inspiring. i just want to make a quick comment about wheatgrass. just because one person regained health from a very compromised state without it, does not mean it cannot be a very powerful choice for others. (and helen, i am not suggesting that you implied that)- but

thanks, cocoa. i actually feel pretty relaxed about it now. i've read some good articles that have put my mind at ease. i had to undo all that brainwashing i've been subjected to over the years about protein

hi suzie- thanks for the recipe. i'm sprouting some garbanzos right now. i googled and came up with another recipe that sounds pretty much like yours. i'll let you know how mine turns out. check the recipe forum in a day or two. i'll post it there. i made some raw hummus a while back and i didn't care for it all that much either. i guess i could try again. good luck!

too late to edit my post.... i had a little 9 year old monkey on my back while writing and couldn't concentrate. i meant to say juice fasting, not feasting.... although i've never fasted the "juicefeastng" style- sounds interesting. thanks for posting the link, kwan, i'll have to check it out.

wow- so inspiring to read this thread! i would just love to join you on your juicefeast. i love tha space of clarity and calmness and the increased spirtual awareness. i just finished a 12 day master cleanse about 3 weeks ago or so, so it's probably too soon to do this. i don't know. i've been 95-100% raw since the mc and feel great. hmmm...you juicefeast does sound compelling though..

luvyuu- i think a swollen belly and liver pain might be something you would want to seek medical advice about. there must be someone somewhere in some clinic that you could afford. sometimes for me, just getting a diagnosis or mainstream medical opinion is enough. then i can help my body to find balance again in my own more natural way. i hope you feel better soon.

i'm sure this topic must have been discussed over and over here, but i'm going to ask anyway, because i'm new, and i'm wondering about it. how will i know if i'm getting enough protein? i know there is protein in fresh fruits and vegetables, but is that enough? i think greens are an especially good source, and i eat some everyday, but they are not my favorite, so i don't eat alot. i do however

even though i haven't been raw for very long now, just about a month, i do notice a big difference in the effects of different types of food when i slip. wheat has a severe effect on me, and the slip with the bagel the other day made me really feel bad physically, it turned my mind to mush for 2 days and then i craved more of it- which i had to use much willpower to not eat. over this nearly 100%

interesting thread...i'm learning so much here... a couple of things i'm thinking: first, i've only been raw for about a month now, and i don't seem to be having any deficiences that would make my hair get thin, however, i already have really fine, thin hair and i don't want it to get any thinner. so, while i'm not really into supplements, i'm going to consider supplementing with biotin. i

thanks suncloud, great advice. i've been nearly 100% raw for about a month now (after many "trys" over the past 10 years). this time feels really solid, and i'm not restricting myself to anything, really. one thing i've noticed is that i get a stomache ache after some meals, particularly if i included nuts. while i'm only having maybe a handful a day, it is either starting to feel li

okun deji - after reading suncloud's very wise words, i realize that i missed the point you were making. i'm glad you've brought up the topic of deficiencies. suncloud- i'm new at this, and really feeling empowered right now eating raw, and want to make sure that i keep my diet balanced over the long run. i am supplementing with wheatgrass, so hopefully this will give me all of the mic

oh thanks, that sounds great. i wonder where i can get genuine raw ones. do you get yours online? maybe i'll just get a few from my local store and try to sprout them. a small amount can't cost too much. thanks again, i really want to try that oatmeal.

i find it hard to buy into the philosophy that says vital, raw food with all of its enzymes and nutients in tact, should be heated to the point of destroying those enzymes and nutrients in order to make it better. raw food is buzzing and alive, cooked food destroys that vitality, how can it be better? gavin, i am by no means an expert, but i would think that you just need to comsume more cal

here's what louise hay writes about hair loss: "when we are tense and afraid, we often create those bands of steel that originate in the shoulder muscles and come up over the top of the head and sometimes even down around the eyes. the hair shaft grows up through the hair follicle. when there is alot of tension in the scalp, the hair shaft can be squeezed so tightly that the hair can no l

i'm just staring out, too. it's been almost a month for me. i agree with the previous post, and just want to add that for me, keeping it simple was the easiest way to get going. i found 2 or 3 different things that i really liked, and just ate that, along with simple whole fruits and vegetables. now i'm branching out picking up new ideas here and there, and also listening to what my body seems to
