I'm cursed! According to western astrology anyway. My Point/Part of Fortune is at the "worst point in the zodiac". So, failure is the only option for me. Woohoo! I don't feel 'cursed' though. Some things go more smoothly for some than others. Just keep swimming.

I'm glad you got more out of Inception than I did. One of the major problems (there were several) that I had with the movie, was that inception - planting the seed of an idea - is done very easily and commonly in the waking world without the danger of psychosis. It's done in advertising, it's done by political pundits and con-artists, spouses do it to each other all the time.

Oh, thanks. I see that now, Curator. Some of the other grains had the disclaimer in red, so I missed in on the amaranth. I know the raw kidney beans are poisonous. I'm not suggesting that anyone eat them, but there is data there on them. I think the reduction of calories has as much to do with the change in volume as the calories being used for growing. Using energy for growing doesn't re

I think you are right, pezhead. Added nutrition is one of the benefits touted of sprouted foods. If you look at the data Nutrition Data has both raw and sprouted versions of the same food, you'll see very different information. Example: Sprouted Kidney Beans 1 cup has 53 calories and 71.9 mg of vitamin C. Raw Kidney Beans 1 cup has 613 calories and 8.3 mg of vitamin C. This is a huge

I was thinking about adding some gojis to my berry patch, but in reading up on them they seem to be fickle. When they like where they are, they do grow easily. But, more often there is a looong adjustment period (sometimes years) where they either barely grow or lose their leaves and come back and lose them again. I thought getting a started plant would help, but from the comments many people

Coco, Handling things with bare fingers makes a huge difference as to how fast they decompose. Strawberries are particularly sensitive to being handled. Have you ever picked a strawberry or two up from a container and put it back in the fridge? It often decomposes much more quickly than the pieces that were not touched. This handling doesn't just happen in the home, it's done by the harves

Bananawho, in my experience, weight is not the issue. I have some strange metabolic issues going on. But, anyway, several years ago my weight shot up despite my dieting and I suddenly had loads of cellulite, which I had never had before. I've been working for years to correct my metabolic issues 'naturally' with diet, yoga, vitamins, etc. and my weight is still an issue, but my cellulite is min

It's not just you. I have a choice of several Whole Foods and Trader Joe's around here, and I find that WF generally has much better products, even if it is pricier. I usually make two trips. The first to WF and get more reasonably priced/harder to find items. And then a second to a regular store, but not Trader Joe's. I find that I can selectively buy better items for less from my local H Mar

Marsh's cheesy kale chips are delicious. I have a couple of non-raw food friends who request that I make them when they come over.

I was born in the year of the tiger and don't like durian It's definitely an acquired taste. If you're curious, try it. To me it tastes like something between rotting caramelized onion and pickled pumpkin. The texture is quite gooey, which is another reason why it doesn't appeal to me. Video of tiger tasting durian:

If you plan to juice, you can go to farmers markets and ask for 'seconds' - fruit that is somehow unsightly, but still good. It's often irregularly shaped or has a small cut or bruise in it. These are great for juicing and are often sold at half price or less. My farmer's market usually has tomato seconds out for juices and sauces. Some other items like peaches are also available if you ask. Y

I've heard that spirulina brands can have different smells and flavors. I've only tried one, and I have to say that I agree with you, I don't like it. For me, it's more the gelatinous texture than the flavor. I will have to give your recipe a try. It might help me work my way through my supply as well. Thanks for sharing.

I hear you juicerkatz. I had a Juiceman before my Breville 800JEXL and it was the pits. It squeezed out practically no juice and broke in two months. Reluctantly, I got the Breville to replace the Juiceman a few years ago and I do like it, but find I don't use it as often as I used to because tossing things in the Vitamix is so much easier, quicker, and there's much less clean up.

I noticed my first gray hairs at 10. I'm now in my 30s and have more gray than brown. I'm considering dying it (again) because I find it mildly irritating for strangers to keep commenting on it. I think of it more as a symptom than a problem. A headache can be caused by being hit in the head, an aneurysm, stress, dehydration, a hangover, or so many other issues, I think the same is true of

La_veronique, thank you! I'm glad you liked the dishes you tried. I do have a spiralizer, but I used a vegetable peeler for the pictured zucchini. It works fine for a thicker cut, which I like sometimes. Banana who, I miss oranges this time of year, too. Trying to eat seasonally can really make you appreciate some foods again. Despite all the goodies available in the summer and fall, I us

I'm sorry that this happened to you jackie. I've read several accounts (some from dentists) that baking soda is far too abrasive for teeth. Like greens, pineapple is also excellent for teeth. Acid is one of the major causes of tooth decay. Fresh pineapple leaves your mouth alkaline. My pH goes from about 6.5 to 8 after eating a piece of pineapple. It is sometimes recommended to gum surger

My mother used to grow lots of these things when I was a kid. We just peeled and ate them or sliced them on salads. You can substitute them for any recipes that have radish or jicama - they have a similar texture and flavor.

This is my favorite green juice. Lettuce is a great starter veg for juicing because it's readily available, mild in flavor, and familiar even to those who don't eat many vegetables. Celery Lettuce Juice - 1 celery bunch - 2 heads of romaine lettuce Wash and pass through the juicer. Makes about 1 liter of juice with my juicer. Serves: 1 -2 Nutrition Info: Nutrition Data

One of the good things about this salad is it’s so juicy that it does not require a dressing. Citrus Salad Salad: - 1 grapefruit - 2 oranges - 4 cups arugula, arugula mix*, or baby spinach - 2 thin slices red onion Garnish: (optional) - pinch of poppy seeds Pile greens into one or two serving dishes. Cut thin onion slices into bite-size pieces and mix into greens. Peel and

Thanks, mmmveg. Love your screen name. I haven’t posting juices and smoothies, but then I thought why not? I consume these as meals and so do others eating raw. So, I’ll start with one of my favorites: Adding the carrot to the orange juice gives it a really rich flavor and full bodied consistency. It also helps cut the acid feeling that drinking large quantities of plain orange ju
