Yes, I answered they sound the same. But, the truth is I do pronounce them differently, but I'm not sure if it's actually heard by other people or if the difference is large enough to be considered different.

QuoteYour Result: The West Your accent is the lowest common denominator of American speech. Unless you're a SoCal surfer, no one thinks you have an accent. And really, you may not even be from the West at all, you could easily be from Florida or one of those big Southern cities like Dallas or Atlanta. I haven't a clue why they call it the West. I'm born and raised in the east coast. If an

Dried fruit is associated with the holidays because it used to be that was the only fruit you could get in many climates in the winter. Nuts are harvested in the fall, so would last into winter. With the wonders of refrigeration and modern transportation, you can get many fresh items year round, but that wasn't always the case.

Yes, bananawho, this was a sponsor ad on PBS for a cooking show. Your points are all very good. I can't say that there's any good in this commercial because it seems to be aimed more at people who aren't eating fries because they're trying to avoid excess fat rather than habitual deep fryers who could cut back on their fat consumption. But, it is interesting to see raw food acknowledged. Ma

I've only done it a few times, but never had a problem. I soak them in water ovenight. Then drain them and place them on two paper towels on a plate. I use a sprayer bottle full of water and give them a few spritzes whenever I remember (3 or 4 times a day). Make sure to spray them really well before bedtime so they don't dry overnight.

QuoteThe controlled burn resulted in temperatures of 1,500 to 1,800 degrees, enough heat enough to neutralize all the dangerous chemicals discovered throughout it, said San Marcos Fire Chief Todd Newman, one of the supervisors of the operation. Really? That doesn't sound plausible. Can you stay at a friends for a few days (preferably one not near the fire)? That's what I have to do when the

I think the answer to your question for many would be a resounding, "Yes!". The raw or fried struck me as an odd comparison for potatoes since baking and boiling are two very common no-fat, not just lower fat ways of preparing them.

Delicious. It could also be watered down for a lighter drink. Citrus Punch - 1 grapefruit - 3 oranges - 1 lime Segment 1 grapefruit and 2 oranges and place in blender. Squeeze the juice of 1 orange and 1 lime into blender. Mix until well blended. For added kick you can try adding a touch of ginger or mint. Serves: 1 Nutrition info: Nutrition Data

Yeah, Curator, Paul had a good idea with that one. Bananawho: I think the frozen banana sounds delicious. The whole orange might be too much as the drink is heavy with pulp because of the pomegranate seeds and cranberry skins, but you could try it. Let us know how it works if you do.

This idea came from a suggestion Paul (pborst) had for a green smoothie. It's very light and refreshing. Lettuce Pear Smoothie - 1 pear (overripe) - 4 leaves of romaine - 1/2 lemon, juiced - 2 cups of water Peel and core pear. Place in a blender and mix along with other ingredients. Enjoy! Thanks for the encouragement, everyone! The recipe books are OK, but there are so many free resources on the internet. I checked out a couple of raw books at my local library, but found there are better (and simpler) versions of what they had there for free if you check out other people's blogs and some of the other forums.

I wish I could remember where I read this, but it was many years ago. I recall reading something that said that even the NCI who put out the 5 fruits/veg a day to prevent cancer message knew that wouldn't help. I think they found that as a preventative you needed 9 and much more if you already had cancer. They had issued the recommendation based on what they thought was reasonable for most peop

Delta, as presented, the information wasn't a logical argument; it was a way of helping memorize the list. The fruits on the lists come from measurements of pesticides in the fruits, not random guesses. However, if you extrapolate from the information given. . . Quote The fruits least likely to test positive for pesticide residues are avocados, pineapples, mangoes, kiwi, domestic cantaloupe,

Yes. I don't like many textures. The biggest turnoff is anything gelatinous. I don't like custards, puddings, aspic, jello, etc. It took decades to get used to the gelatinous texture of avocados and mangoes even though I have always like the flavor of both., but I'm ok with them now. I still can't eat a banana because of the way it gets slimy and squishy in the mouth. They're OK in shakes th
