So it's carrot truffles, and they are yum: 2c.carrot pulp 1c.carob 1/2c raisins, soaked 1t.pumpkin pie spice combine ingredients.roll into balls and chill.u may wish to add a dollop of your favorite coconut icing.

Came across fantastic dotty bananas today, they were on sale and they were organic. So I bought loads and froze most of them, for future ice-creams I've decided to try and freeze them in skins: someone said that skins will be very easy to come off, all it needs is to splash warm water on the bananas and the skins are supposed to slip off. Will see. I just figured bananas will preserve better

What kind of oven do you have (if you have one)? Here in UK most of the modern ovens are fan-assisted, as they are supposed to be more efficient and so more environmentally friendly. But the point is they have a nice large fan in the middle of the back wall, which turns the oven into a perfect dehydrator once you open the door, and so you can try and dehydrate some things. The only caveat is t

Maybe it doesn't work, I haven't tried it to be honest, just checked the control options and saw that it was the possibility. Or maybe it goes to junk in the mail system?

Tried broccoli and eggplant last night (eggplant to substitute mushrooms), with bell peppers, tomatoes, onion, a bit of tahini and soy sauce. It turned out good! I sliced the rest of the eggplant in thin circles and froze them. They are going to be my "bread" substitute for times when I want something chewy and spongy. Pop a slice out, spread some avocado on top, a piece of bell pepper

And how's that companies' responsibility to have conscience here? Children are exception of course, but adults who consume fast food are not puppets, THEY are supposed to have conscience. I suppose in India it is still possible to find healthy food, so if someone wants to fatten himself up and even pays for it, I'd say it's a free country

For me dehydrated food is akin to cooked food (that cooked food which is not harmful per se but which due to heating has reduced nutrients/other goodies compared to fresh raw stuff). Just think of what you do when you dehydrate things. You cut them up, sometimes blend them, then spread them out and blow the air over them for hours, and even days. Can you imagine the amount of oxidation the foo

195. Re: candy
These are amazing, they are tasty plus no feeling of guilt whatsoever, and no dehydration needed. I made them not very sweet (1tbsp carob and about 25 raisins, for the pulp from 2 medium carrots), and the taste is elegant. Definitely no blending for raisins, they need to act like little bursts of sweetness. Need to try them with a splash of coconut icing next

I'm in UK and tend to buy crackers made by these people: , they have a good variety including sweet crackers. I'm not sure but likely you can find something similar in US? If not, they are not very difficult to make (and will be much cheaper too)

Lol, I think not many are worried about exceeding their RDA when eating arugula, you'd need to eat a hell of a lot of it for this to become the point of concern. Maybe that's why no one has mentioned it

I buy few varieties of raw crackers, and pack flaxseed (whole seeds in a pepper mill), nuts, pumpkin/sunflower seeds, carrots (lots), cabbage, tomatoes (lots), avocado, apples (lots), bananas, dates and dried figs. And some nice herbal tea. These are things that are easy to prepare (spread avocado on crackers, and munch the rest as it is), and they should be fine for a couple of days even without

Haha no worries I constantly forget things too I've actually created two lists on my phone, one for good things about food, and another for bad things. Not everything but some particular things like rice and arsenic (bad), or buckwheat and protein (good) and so on.

The zinc supplement has arrived, this is the one I went for: My daily intake of zinc is a little low, between 40 and 80% of RDA, and considering copper is always above 200% i though I should supplement. Not going to overdo it really, in fact I'm planning to take 1 tablet every 2 or 3 days. I was somewhat surprised at the dose of the supplement being quite high: twice the recommended dose.

No idea there is a thread here couple of pages back, few people posted that raw sweet potatoes are bad for digestion, but didn't really explain why. One thing is raw sweet potatoes contain a trypsin inhibitor, so I do not eat protein with them. But other than that I can't think of what could be wrong about them being raw, they are so yummy and filling.

One bad thing about rice is arsenic, and evidently there is more of it in the brown rice than in white. I've dropped brown rice for this reason, sprouted or not (and only occasionally have white rice when im in japan).

Luvyuu, if you still worry about proteins try using "cronometer" for a while - it is the program which you can download free on your computer, you you can register at their website and use web version without downloading. What I found amazing and very helpful is the detailed breakdown that the program provides, you put in your greens and straight away you can see how they fare in supply
