I just bought raw carob powder, 500g because it was twice cheaper to buy in bulk. The label says it is good until 05/2013, but also that after opening it should be consumed within 2 months. There is no way I can use all the powder that quick, it's more likely to last me a year eek. So I was wondering can I freeze it, will this not harm it and will it preserve it?

Cheers coco, nut pate is a good idea! I've also found this recipe involving green pulp: 2 cups leftover green juice pulp (any you like! I had kale, cos lettuce, zucchini, cucumber, parsley and lemon.) ¼ large or ½ small avocado 1 tsp dried dill ¼ tsp ginger ¼ tsp chilli ½ tsp cumin 1/8 tsp sea salt Pinch of nutmeg 1 clove of garlic, chopped finely 2 tbsp fresh coriander Juice of

Tut tut, the fact that they are cheap is this really a reason to be environmentally unfriendly, unless they are cheaper than heads bought by themselves? I also have a bridge, but don't

I use coconut water (instead of ordinary water) in any of my smoothies, green and fruit. It's very subtle so you never even feel it's there. I don't use it all the time (too expensive) but from time to time, or when I feel I need some extra boost after training etc.

Hi guys, I'm looking for recipes to use the fruit and veg pulp leftovers after juicing. I hate to waste stuff especially pulp so full of goodies, that's why I mostly blend things but sometimes I just want a glass of fresh juice in the morning and it would be great if I could utilise the pulp in the lunch salad for example. But most of what I can find over internet requires dehydrator. I don't

Sorry, half of the above is parrot talk. No one who has at least some background in science, or had troubled themselves to research it a little bit, would complain that RO water is acidic. Instead they would learn that RO water's ph is unstable, in virtue of the very nature of RO water, and for the same reason irrelevant. Incidentally, this unstable ph is usually in the region of 5-6. Do you

Do you guys use TDS meters (TDS = total dissolved solids) to check your (filtered) water? I think for shower purposes it would not be very essential, but for drinking water it is nice to know that filters are due to be changed once TDS starts creeping up above 0. I first heard of these meters when we got our marine fish tank with the obligatory Nemo, as it turned out marine aquariums are best

Just found this salad googling, and amended a little to suit my personal taste and I think it tastes great! Ingredients (everything raw): 3 cups chopped broccoli 1 cup sunflower seeds 1/2 cup raisins or dried cranberries (or both) 1 cup shredded carrots 1 cup diced red bell pepper 1 cup chopped cashews 1/2 cup chopped onion Mix all above together and sprinkle with olive oil to tas

Geo, it seems polycarbonate is the one which usually contains BPA. And incidentally that's why it is unreliable to rely on numbers on the bottom of the container. Have a look at this article:

P.s. regarding 3 days fast - I did it once, when i first started fasting, as a way of mental preparation to my first 10 days fast (basically I wanted to know how it would feel like). But then I decided to simply continue with regular 24hrs fasts, and do 10 days couple of times a year - the 3 days just didn't seem needed with such routine.

Prism, i think it is possible that the energy there is because the body is given a little bit of rest, but also perhaps because psychologically we tend to feel "light" and "free" on the day, without the food in our bellies. It sounds silly but i don't know how else to describe it I am not 100% raw, more like 70-80% at the moment. When I started 24hrs fasts, I was about 40%

That's true I don't have children yet.. I guess you are right about the contact time being brief should eliminate the problem - I realised, since what we are worrying about is plastic contaminating the food, then it follows that the longer the contact the more contamination will occur and vice versa..

Coco it may be a good point. I didn't read on this subject properly, so not sure whether the was research on the relevance of contact times between food and plastic. Though the linked wikipedia article on BPA mentions that in some countries the use of BPA is prohibited in kids' bottles. One may think that possibly the contact time is often brief there too - most often children's food is put t

JohnA, thanks for your post - personally I think "dragging up" an old discussion might have been relevant in this case (although i'm also a new member and perhaps doing so is never relevant for this forum?) I thought it was relevant because last post expressing concerns about BPA was from 2009, however one can see from even basic wikipedia article that there were few new studies/repo

Since it's 24 hours sleep will be involved either way, but i think it is better to start and finish in the morning - this way your body has a bit longer time to rest (because technically the fasting will include the previous night). My personal way to cope with 24 hours fasting is to pick the busiest day of the week - when you are constantly on the go/going something etc - in other words when
