Soak the nuts for the recommended time and then dry them in the low heat for long term storage. I also had bad stomach issues with the nuts and this worked for me. k

I believe the general recommendation is that you grind the flax seeds because you gain access to its goodness more effectively this way. The seeds you can soak or don't but they recommend you do for the reason you mentioned above. I soak them because if i don't they give me a belly ache and gas :-) Whatever works for you, just do it K

I also have the problem - it happens with any nuts or tahini which is very annoying. I spoke to a person who was a long-time foodist and she said that one option she finds helpful is to soak the nuts overnight and then dry them. That way next time it should be okay Good luck

Hi folks Avocados are extremely expensive this year and since I'm trying to wean off nuts (I'm totally addicted), I wondered if anyone had a healthy fatty alternative to avocadoes to get me through this period while my body is getting used to healthy food. Green juices are great but I like salads. Thanks

Bad news - I fell off the wagan during Christmas and its taken me this long to get back to cleaning up amy diet. What happened? Travelling to my home country where uncooked vegetables is myth, school restarted and I was overwhelmed with the prep work...excuses yes. It made me realize how much dedication is really needed if you aren't in an environment you can't control. I sometime feel li

I can so identify with you. I was completely raw for about 5 months and when I started school, I just couldn't seem to keep up with it because of all of the prep time involved. I'm back on track now but here's what i did * Salad bar at the grocery - its easy, its convenient, its my base salad. I then keep easy to reach options in the fridge. Little zucchinni's, cherry tomatoes, cranberrie

I use the warming draw in my oven. I set it to warm which is about 150 and I try to keep the pans (use them for flax crackers)in the front so it doesn't get too hot.

I've reduced my coffee intake to 1/2 cup a day. That is all I can do to stay awake with studying and long hours at work. I did go caffeine free for 4 weeks but unfortunately i could not focus due to my busy lifestyle. I know that this probably limits any detoxing that can occur (95% raw - I only cook sweet potatoes) Are there any foods out there that could replace the caffeine? Thanks

medjool dates Great source of sugar and fiber. Good for a mid-afternoon snack between lunch and dinner if you cant get to fruit. Make almond butter yourself and with the medjool you've got your fat and sugar. that should help.

Medjhool dates are a great snack. Beware eat only one since it is loaded with calories. it's great between meals and before you exercise. Can find it online (i had to buy it there since I couldn't find it in my area)

Well I'm into week three are the raw food plan. I've had a couple of bumps but I'm still figuring what my body reacts to. For example, wild oats has this "bread" that is made up of fruts and sprouted wheat mixture. It tastes great and my stomach felt okay but main I got the runs. I couldn't believe it. I'm wondering if I can't eat the wheat. I'm quite disappointed since it tastes

Well I was 90% successful on Snack day. I tried some roasted cashews and a small piece of sushi with rice. Boy what a mistake. I immediately got a headache. Afterwards I just drank a lot of water and went to bed. Guess I won't do that again. Today is better. Im on track. I do notice though that medjool dates are like candy..the sugar goes straight to my bloodstream. better not have those

Thank you for your suggestions. It is very timely I'm also on prescriptions (a place I did not want to go) and my ulcer is insisting that I change the course there. I pray that I stick with this long enough for it to work. Well its Day 2 and so far I've been good. No meat, no bread or complex carb. I feel great. I'm not falling asleep at my desk, a time otherwise known as my 2pm doldrums.

Hi All I'm taking my first steps on the raw food journey this week. Although I have done a juice fast in the past, I'm now coming off SAD so I know it will be difficult. I plan on starting off as what I see as 75% raw (raw breakfast and dinner) then if I survive I'll move on. Wish me luck. Why am I doing this? I have to get out of the state of denial that I'm in. Food is my drug of choi
