I once dried cherry tomatoes in the sun (in southern Spain). As far as I remember, I cut the tomatoes into quarters and left the juice and seeds in as much as I could. Rob

I don't think you could eat a diet that gives you the exact pH you need - the body is very clever and can keep th

There is at 11 Vauxhall Grove. It's a veggie cafe, with vegan day on Thursdays and raw food on the 2nd, 4th and 5th Sunday of the month. The food is really good although portion sizes are small! There is also a new place opened in Camden Town, I think it's called Spiral Lounge, on Camden High Street near the canal, but I haven't been yet. It should have some raw items on the menu. And join

Read up on Asapartame, the artificial sweetener used in most "sugar free" products. I know sugar is not good, but I'm sure it's many times better than the artificial alternatives. If you have to drink soda, drink the regular sugared varie

I read Raw Secrets while transitioning and found it very helpful, although I thought it was a bit too strict, might not be the best transition diet. Rob

I'm currently living in London, England. Quite a good raw scene here, regular potlucks and a couple of places to eat out raw. Although I much preferred it when I was living in southern Spain, the quality and variety of fresh fruit was so much better and it was a lot easier to grow my own food. Rob

Based on what ScienceGirl (I think) posted a little while ago, no, it's not possible for our bodies to produce vitamin D from the sun in winter in the UK (although the very south of England is borderline and you might be able to on particularly sunny days). I'm pretty sure sunscreen will interfere with the process although that is just my intuition. Rob

I love durian. If it wasn't so expensive I would eat a lot more of it! Although it can be difficult to get good ones, I've had several which didn't taste good. I think I'm slowly learning to tell when they are fully ripe and to be able to choose good ones. Rob

I've been mostly raw for over 5 years now. The first 4 years were a very long transition, eating anywhere between 80 and 100% raw at different times. Been about 99% raw for the last couple of years. Rob

It says it takes 25 minutes to make the milk, during which time the beans are cooked, see where in step 8 it mentions "the 25-minute cooking cycle" and other pages from the instructions which say that steam may come out of the machine and not to touch it because it will be hot. I used to have something similar, soy milk is make by cooking the soy beans. Rob

I just spotted this on WikiPedia "Some antioxidants such as lycopene and ascorbic acid can be destroyed by long-term storage or prolonged cooking." It gives two PubMed articles as references (which I haven't checked): Rob

The reason any nutrition gets "essential" added to it's name is because the human body can't produce them at all. So all your essential fatty acids must come from the food you eat. Rob

Every acid-alkali table seems to be massively different. See for example this one which lists all fruits as alkaline (note that this table used negative (-) numbers to signify alkaline whilst the first table uses positive (+) numbers to signify alkaline). The consensus on this forum seems to be eat what feels good to your body, ignore what other people or say! Rob

If you buy almond milk it will most likely have been pasteurised. I'm not sure you can buy hemp milk, it doesn't keep for very long and pasteurising it would really damage it. Rob

It sounds like it is a nutritional craving, maybe for iron, but also maybe magnesium and other minerals which chocolate is very high in. If you don't want to eat raw chocolate, as suggested above greens might be a good substitute. Raw chocolate was one of the crucial items to enable me to go 100% raw, and after eating quite a lot of it to start with, I'm now naturally cutting down. Rob
