newyear, you could make milk from sunflower or sesame seeds, they are both a lot cheaper than almonds. Soak the seeds first for around 8 hours before making the milk. Rob

Going raw reduced the number of hours a night I needed to sleep - I used to need 10 hours, after not long being raw that went down to about 8. Although I can get by on 4 to 6 hours, and sometimes feel better for this. Rob

Raw chocolate beans or nibs on their own are a little bitter, but once it's made into a chocolate bar or cake with natural raw sweeteners like lucuma, carob and agave then it's delicious. I love making my own raw chocolate. An oven on the lowest temperature is still going to cook the food. If you leave the oven door open then you might be able to make something still raw. See my blog at fo

160. Re: agave
I'd say it is more similar to maple syrup, but it is also like some kinds of runny honey. It's a liquid, it comes from the Agave cactus like plant. Unless it's labelled raw, it will have been cooked during processing. Raw agave is processed, but at low temperatures to concentrate it. Rob

I can't find any info on kale sprouts being toxic. This very site gives sprouting times for kale seeds on this page: "Cabbage, Kale: Soak 6-14 hours, sprout 1+ days. Method: cloth or jar. Very strong flavor, best used as flavoring in mixtures. Can also be grown into greens. Seeds relatively expensive." And Plants for a Future talks about eating one type of kale sprouts "

Some people say that all nightshades contain small amounts (or very small amounts) of toxic components, including nicotine. Unripe nightshades are supposed to be much worse, particularly for example green capsicum pepper

A good way to start might be by having a salad along with whatever you would normally have for dinner. Or adding a piece of fresh fruit to your breakfast. It takes a while for you to adjust, so just jumping in with a full raw meal might not be the best idea for your husband. Just take it slowly, adding more raw items to your meals over time. Rob

I don't know how to make a song repeat, but you can put multiple copies of the same song into a Playlist. So you could have your favourite song listed 20 times or something, so that's close to a repeat, you would only have to hit play again once an hour or so!!! Edited to add: assuming you're not bored by then. Rob

You can find out for any food by looking it up at nutritiondata.com - You will see if you scroll down a little there is a Protein Quality chart, and a score out of 100, which for kale is 92. Rob

I'd really recommend the Anastasia series - There is a lot of information in those books about the best (most natural) way to bring up children. The Breakthrough DVD (Storm and Jinjee) has some good ideas I think. There is a UK based magazine called The Mother which is full of information about natural childrearing. As I don't yet have children of my own I'll leave this as just links t

You can make milk from sunflower or sesame seeds in the same way, they are both quite a bit cheaper than almonds. (Soy milk is never raw and almond milk bought from the store will not be raw.) Rob

I enjoy drinking herbal teas. I make them in the regular way with boiling water. I've been raw for over 5 years and I don't have any negative reaction to drinking herbal teas, I don't see a problem with it if it works for you. Rob

I use the soak water from seaweed (specifically sea spaghetti, but I'm sure others will work). Or of course you can just leave it out, adding a bit of water if necessary to get the consistency you want and salt if you desire. Rob

It's a bit of an extreme comment to say the least. I don't think bananas are the best fruit in the world, but not as bad as this guy makes out. They are not the highest fruit on the GI index, there are other fruits higher such as watermelon, kiwi, mango, papaya, pineapple. (GI Table: ) And while they are hybridised, they are not quite "a genetically man-mad fruit"! (I wouldn't tr
