I've not ever eaten a persimmon. What would you compare the texture and flavor to?

I'll try to keep this short, but still note each exciting thing that has taken place in the past couple days: *My new blender (Blendtec Home Blender) arrived last night! I love it! *My wife(SAD) actually sent me an email a few days back that said "I'm going to start getting up with you in the mornings so you can show me how to make green smoothies. I think I will just add a little gre

Well, I appreciate you responding. Unfortunately, I hadn't had an opportunity to get on the forum for about a week and just ordered a Blendtec yesterday. I wish I had checked here before buying, but it had been a month since I first posted this and hadn't heard anything. I apologize. Thanks again for responding.

Thanks yogi. I'm on day 3 of trying to be 100%, but I did mess up last night and have some steamed edamame after dinner. I'm very excited about the transition, both the good and bad of it. I have a feeling I will come to rely on support from hear quite a bit. How do you do so well when your hubby isn't a part of it? It's hard!

You're right, I've no place to complain about hunger. At this point, I've drank apprx 140 oz or 17.5 cups of water. How much do I need to increase that to avoid being "very un-hydrated"?

Well, it's almost 4 p.m. and I'm stuck at work until 7 today. I ate three bananas for lunch, but being so new to raw I never realized that I would need much more food for the day. So now I'm stuck at work for three more hours, I'm SO hungry(although my stomach isn't growling now that I think about it), I have a hella bad headache and nothing to eat!! I don't suppose anyone might have any sugge

Here are my calcs after breakfast and lunch, halfway through my second day 100% raw. It looks like I'm obviously not eating enough, but I figured by letting some of you critique me you might find some glarring issues that maybe you experienced during your transition. Breakfast - Green Smoothie(my very first one!) Food Quantity Summary Bananas 2 × 1 medium 210kcal

Well, I had my very first green smoothie just a bit ago for breakfast! It looked TERRIBLE, but it tasted pretty darn good! I used about a c. of water, banana, mango, romaine and raspberries...not bad tasting at all. My wife even tried it and was ok with the taste...she just couldn't get past the color of it. Anyway, I was pumped and the first one is behind me. I can just add from there.

I don't have a juicer, so it'll have to be something blended. I guess I just wasn't sure there needs to be any liquid added to my smoothie or not.

Sarah- I actually meant besides romaine and celery I forgot to add that thought in earlier. I also got sugar snap peas. I am very excited, but realize that I will never be perfect and I didn't develop my bad eating habits overnight so I won't develop good ones over night either. For breakfast in the morning, based on what I listed out previously, does anyone have any yummy suggestions

Well, I know it doesn't sound like anything at all but I just made it through my first day 100% raw. Again, I know one day is nothing, but it IS a start! I also went to the store tonight and stocked up. I really wasn't sure what to get so I got: yellow bell pepper, celery, romaine, tomatoes, mango, apples, bananas, avocado, grapes, strawberries, watermelon, raspberries, cucumbers, peaches, le

I most definitely see a great deal of truth and follow your thinking 100%. The "more is better" thinking is easy to grab onto, but I will do everything I can to temper myself. The insight here is so valuable and appreciated.

Oh...well...that shows how little I know. That would seem to be a better idea then. I definitely don't want to defeat the whole purpose by staying at work, so I suppose I'll just slowly increase my percentage of raw whole foods and hope that works out a bit better. I sure appreciate your insight, Bryan.

I will do that. I anticipate having a rough go as my body tries to get rid of stored toxins, but know it HAS to be started. The initial cleanse frankly scares me to death! I don't know what to expect and I think that's worse than knowing. My crazy imagination!

This may sound very uninformed and uneducated. That is most likely because I AM uninformed and uneducated. Is it safe to partake in a short water fast even if I have to be at work (a desk job)? I just got back from my family vacation and am ready to transition and wondered if a water fast would be the way to go possibly. I DO have to be at work and know that everyone is different and reacts d

I'm sure this sounds silly, but this is the part that scares me to death! Detox makes me scared!! Am I being silly or is this a founded fear?

In my blog, I forgot to mention that she has been dropping weight like crazy and can't keep anything down currently. I did mention that she had ceased eating meat earlier this year and quit dairy as well. Her "friends" finally convinced her that she was so sick "because she stopped eating meat" and that "meat is a natural healer because it has amino acids"!!!

A very special friend of mine is experiencing some serious health issues, mostly seeming to be stemming from G.I. issues. She has been experiencing issues for some time now (close to a year), has had about every imaginable test run on her and has NO answers. I blogged about the situation on my blog and would be forever greatful if anyone might have any suggestions or thoughts. I know everyone

Roadrunner, I would believe what you said to be very true, although I know nothing about raw foods or hair. Here is a picture to show you just how much I know about hair! See any grays? I started losing my hair at 19, so it would make a great deal of sense to contribute that to my bad diet...my diet must've been even worse than I thought!

FINALLY, a thread I know something about!! I just happen to play the guitar and sing and I do a great deal of songs by MercyMe, Justin McRoberts, Matthew Perryman Jones, Charlie Hall, Ten Sheckel Shirt, Stephen Speaks, Bebo Norman and many others. Other than MercyMe, the others are quite easily fit into the "hidden manna" category for most. I DO like Jason Upton as well, yogi33.

Well, thanks for the input. I am confused now though. Almost everything I've read on the forum has been either pro-Vitamix/Vita-Prep3 or pro-Blendtec with very few Waring comments. I also read on another thread that the 2-life.com website was a rip-off. There may have been no merit to that comment, but nobody had disputed the comment last time I checked. This is all pretty confusing. Thanks

I am VERY new here, in fact I just joined last night. I have been looking at the Vita-Prep3 and the Blendtec Total, much like so many others around here. I have seen a few posts by Rawbryan showing a low price on the Blendtec if you buy through him. Being new and not knowing anyone, I was just curious if he was for real and could be trusted. I appreciate any and all feedback. Thanks so much!

Well, I started my blog in hopes that it will provide me with accountability through all of this. I'm not sure if anyone will read it, but I'll vow to be absolutely 100% transparent and honest in everything I blog. I already get the feeling that this forum will be such a huge asset to me through all of this. Right now, it's my only support system, as I'm sure is the case with many. Many thank

That is a great idea! I'm not really sure how I would go about getting people to actually read my food blog, lol, but I'm sure it would be a bit therapeutic just to write about my successes and struggles. Last night my wife picked up dinner because I was at work until late. She picked up, and I willingly ate, gasp...fast food!! I thought, "what's the harm to just eat it once?"

Ok, so I was at work when I first posted and didn't have an opportunity to expound much. I am in this strange place in my life where I becoming much more concious of what I am doing to myself through my diet. I am 27, 5'9" and 245 lbs. I have always been thick, but when the working out stopped, "thick" turned to "FAT"!! I am completely unhappy with my current state an

I just wanted to introduce myself and say hello. I stumbled upon this forum on accident and am so happy that I did! I'm a 27 yr old husband and father of one who is very interested in transitioning to a raw foods diet. Six months ago I cut red meat and pork completely from my diet and have been phasing out poultry and dairy during that same time. I was introduced, albeit briefly, to the conce
