While not considered a "raw" food by any means, I have taken WobenzymN in the past. I am a bodybuilder, & this is a supplement that is considered to be one of the good ones in the fitness industry. I felt that it was benefical for me; I have never had any joint pain before or after taking the supplement, it is not something that I suffer from. I no longer take it since making a r

Many raw food gurus advise against the mixing vegetables/fruits in smoothies & juices due to a clash of enzymes. However, most recipes I see do have a mixture of both. A lot of youtube vids. of raw "experts" mix them in order to make them more palatable, I suppose. I have *control* over my taste buds, so I do not really need to suppress greens with fruit to mask the taste. I know

deenis, click on the link in that post; that is where I found that list of *bad* foods. However, I must agree with Bryan, kwan & others; I have consumed tomatoes/peppers (bell & hot) all my life & I do not feel that they are negatively affecting me. For me, the jury is out on this one yet. I need to do more searching/thinking before I make a final decision.

>>>SIGH<<< Well, I guess I can cross some more items off my "edibles" list; I did some research as well...too bad, I really enjoy peppers : ] * potatoes * tomatoes * bell peppers * eggplant * tobacco * petunias * mandrake * hot peppers (capsicum) * wolfberries

Fiber is good - but, juice without pulp is absorbed quicker, without the body having to digest. Juices would be considered more benefical for a person in a weakened state of health, due to the fact that less strain (digestion) is placed on the body. I enjoy both daily. I cannot eat that much bulk greens in salads, etc. daily, it is much easier for me to juice/smoothie them.

WY - No smoke detectors? I am all for personal choice, but I feel that is a personal "must have" device; For example, We heat with wood, and use CO & smoke detectors. You just never know... Not condemning your choice, but just curious as to why you don't use them?

Hellokitty, I have found that it is very difficult to convince anyone of doing anything different. Folks are so comfortable in their routine "stuck in a rut" filled lives that they don't like to be challenged to accept something new. Sometimes, someone "gets it" & sees the light 7 makes a change. You are one of those people. Not all of us are called to start a moveme

> LOL. As always, JJ has the Tact of a 10-lb > sledgehammer. > Kind of reminds me of myself....WY Agreed, lol. I know JJ is into the Greenstar/Greenpower, and that is fine. I had one of those years ago, & while a great juicer, I found it to clog a lot, and take forever to juice with. I suppose they have made some design changes over the years to minimize that situation. JJ,

CJJ; I wanted to follow up on this, I guess I should have elaborated further in my initial post. While the Super Plenamins were benefical to me at the time, I am not really recommending for you to use them. I just mentioned them as the course of treatment that the dr. put me on at the time. At that time, I ate an absolutely horrible diet. I was 19 at the time, and my diet was as bad as anyone

Understood; When I recently did the "Master Cleanse", (lemonade diet) everything became a "wash", so to speak. It was a great feeling, and I felt a "lightness" in my being that I hadn't experienced for a long time. It is a cleansing fast, and while not totally raw (maple syrup is used) it is highly revered by many health gurus. I have contemplated going t

I had mono in 1985, accompanied by very severe strep throat & other symptoms. A wise old doctor put me on a multi vit/mineral called Super Plenamins, advised plenty of rest & water. I guess if he was really "wise" he would have advised an all raw diet, but at least he wasn't intent on cramming me full of anti-biotics. I recovered just fine. I do not have the swollen lymph nod

"I've decided to run my life around 3 juicers and 1 blender....WY" I have thought about doing this as well. For the sake not being too graphic here, does your digestion cease? I guess since you are doing smoothies, there are some eliminations going on...just curious how that works...

Bah...I don't care about the letter. Since I have recently been taking a look at all of my food choices, I have decided that the only way to live is completely raw. I will not be purchasing anymore boxed/canned/packaged milks or any other foods from now on.

Freezing is detrimental to the enzymes to an extent, definantly not as bad as heating food is. David Wolfe has an article about this somewhere on the net.

Different folks have different opinions on this, but I personally would say "no" to all of the above. For me, raw means food in its' most natural state. But most definantly, anything boxed/canned/packaged such as Crystal lite, juice boxes, chewing gum, etc. is not raw. I believe we would all agree on that. Having said that, congrats on deciding to go raw at 16! I wish, I wish that wo

I heard years ago about folks eating violets, but never really thought that much about it. I recently heard about it again on forum, & I was curious if anyone here eats violets or other flowers/ house plants. I have always heard that violets are poisonous to pets, but not humans, I guess? My mom grows African violets, I understand that these are not edible.

Mostly debit card or cash at my local organic food store. There is usually not a line at the times that I go, so it is a fast process. Foe online shopping, I usually use paypal. Debit card at the fuel pump; I have two different banks, & the one back goes thru a convoluted extra fee charge at the pumps, which they credit back to my account a few days later. I don't like this, it makes for a

Hi Tamukha , Yes, I know that politics are not permitted here - it is one of the main reasons I frequent this forum, because I basically abhor politics & political discussion. However as you mentioned, it is a necessary thing from time to time, especially to raise awareness in regards to the current food bills floating around congress. If there were a political sub-forum here, I wouldn'

But, doesn't everyone in Texas look like that (just kidding, no offense to anyone) but look at the screen when the camera pans through the congregation - it's all a "meat & potatoes" crowd. Wow, 3 quarts of juice is great! I am an avid juicer, but I am usually hard pressed to get that much in one day. I will sometimes take dehydrated foods along to social hang outs, or bananas, etc. I address my cravings ahead of time & make sure I am mentally prepared for what is coming. In the beginning, those around me tried to encourage me to cave in, but they don't usually bother me anym

Yes, I am not a big fan of The Hallelujah Diet at all, although I do like Rev. Malkmus. They are really basically vegetarian. Many of their recipes feature cooked food, even including eggs, milk, etc. Also, I would like to suggest not to "obsess" with all the different disorders that could accompany your IBD. It is very easy to start "imagining" that you are coming down wit

I am not sure exactly what you are asking; Should you stay in your present job? Should you buy a new house? Only you can answer those questions. A few years ago, I heard a very wise individual say; "Why spend all your health to gain wealth, & then have to spend all your wealth to regain your health" Think about it carefully; Nothing in this world is as important as ones' he

Hmmm...I have been considering the purchase of a Blendtec, but I don't like the fact that everything is welded together like that. How can you possibly clean it very well if it can't be disassembled? Oh well, maybe it is not as big a deal as I imagine it would be - or is it?

To me it sounds like a dip in blood pressure/blood sugar levels. Your body is adjusting to your new diet? You will experience various symptoms as your body adjusts and rids itself of toxins. I know that if you have an empty stomach and eat something, as digestion starts a lot of blood will rush to that area of the body. That is why you would possibly feel shaky as the blood pressure level drop
