"It's definitely easy and fast to clean and very low-maintenance, so we'll go with what we have." Definantly low maint.! And really, I don't believe I would be overly concerned about the flexing of the unit. I know it does appear to break easily, but as I mentioned, i haven't read of an unhappy owner with it yet. Also, I feel that Samson probably took that into account & desig

Great news! Stay strong in your RAW quest! Smoothie/juice fasts are a great weight loss tool, or even replacing a daily meal or two with them helps a great deal.

I did the same thing; went to the pantry & cleaned house! "I am so disappointed with our FDA (Food and Drug Administration.). They really should be protecting the population much better than they have." I feel they are bought, just like politicians and all the rest... They aren't interested in protecting us, just how much $$$ they can rake in. Just my personal opinion...

"Natural Flavor" is know as a catch phrase for MSG...In addition to that, the other posters did mention that it is a pasteurized, dead, bottled food... I've definantly looked at my food intake since joining this forum & others like, & have made changes in the consumption of dead foods such as this.

The part that you are concerned about, the Drum & Guide sells for around $20.00. Not that much of a replacement cost really, although if it were to break I suppose other parts could be stressed/broken as well in the process. I don't know if the Omega single auger juicers are stronger in this area or not. A few on here have an Omega, I believe Wheatgrass Yogi is one. You might also want t

Update! I figured a way to make this work for me. I remember back to my "SAD" days...I used to love eating stuffed peppers, cooked of course. So I figured, why not RAW? So, I did this; 1 green bell pepper diced tomato diced onion diced celery finely chopped alfalfa sprouts finely chopped broccoli sprouts small piece of chopped garlic a bit of cayenne pepper dribble of fla

If I recall correctly...I believe it is because greens are such powerful diuretics, parsley especially. They flush toxins quickly, so that much of a flush in the bloodstream can be hard on the body - I know, because when I first switched to vegan/juicing years ago, I did it cold turkey, & also did a lot of the green juices, not knowing the effects back then. I felt very out of sorts for ma

"Used to LOOOVE shopping at Sonnewalds since I lived right over the hill from the place. Awesome store !!!" Yep, I agree! You should stop in if you are in the area sometime. Since I am totally RAW, I only buy fruits/veggies/bulk items there, nothing from their fully stocked shelves of pills/powders/etc. But it still is a pleasant place to shop, knowing that the produce is all or

I had a Champion that I used for a few years. It gets the job done, no question there. Some are concerned about the fast rotation of the cutter, that it heats the juice too much. Some pulp also will get into the juice, you may want to strain it some. My Norwalk is excellent, but can be time consuming, unless you have a second person to help with the process. I also have the Samson, & I do

Thanks for the "pep" talk, I needed it. Like you mentioned early on, I possess a profound sadness and frustration with the current situations. I am a fighter, but also a realist. Maybe I need to fight harder, take a stronger stance & energize those around me to take action as well. As far as "recent" goes, there were those "tea party" demonstrations several mo

I don't believe I have tried a raw zucchini before, I may do that. I can "tolerate" cucumbers, but they definantly aren't on my fav. list. Can't really put my finger on the exact thing about them; They do have a "clean" taste, I believe your husband described it well. I do like to put them (slices) on my eyes, they are so cool & refreshing to use in that manner.

They sound neat, but the problem for me is - I don't really care for the taste of cucumber! That is pretty much the only fruit that I do not enjoy... Wish I could eat them, because I like the concept of a "portable" sandwich like that!

"Our letters, petitions and phone calls count, big-time. The Congressional staff members, when they field a phone call or letter, have a formula: each citizen who expresses his opinion is said to represent 13,000 other constituents. If enough of us speak up, we can have a powerful impact." kwan - I sure wish I could believe that, but I personally believe that ALL politicians are

I agree with kwan; Please contact your Congressman/Senator in regards to this bill and oppose it! I don't have very much faith in the "system" at all, but we need to do what we can to try and protect our food supply in a way that is sensible.

I am located near the MD/PA line. There are a few organic farms in my area that I know of & a good organic natural foods store; I haven't really looked around for raw food groups to associate with, but I may in the future.

I don't have a vita-mix, but I "assume" the bottom screws off. Try running warm water over it for a few moments, as you would with a stuck jar lid. That should loosen it.

I can think of a few reasons, as there are certainly more than one; * Addicted to cooked food. That MSG & other flavorings can be as addictive as cocaine, in my opinion. * Too lazy to try anything new * Prejudice - they have a preconceived opinion and/or unfavorable feeling towards raw food. I see it all the time, in friends & family. I am know as the "health nut" who ea

Drinking plenty of water is good. If it were me, I would surely think about trying a juicing cleanse or maybe something like what is listed here; I have read several of their books, & the cleanses that they recommend, which are done with store bought items, nothing fancy, purport to "soften" any stones that are passed, and it is basically a pain-free situation. I have done

If you are mechanically inclined, you could check to see if the four Phillips head screws on the retaining ring are tight. It could be that they are loosened a bit & causing a binding situation. Or, you could remove the ring & give that area a good cleaning & see if that helps. It really shouldn't be that hard of a fix after you determine where the binding problem is, as it is a fa

I have the Samson, which I believe is the same juicer, & I don't have this problem at all. Does the retaining mechanism rotate freely when the juicer is disassembled? Mine does, as well as all of the parts do. If not, I am wondering if something isn't defective/stressed/bent, maybe from new. How old is it? Also, I do not need to put any type of lubricating oil on mine.

Hi plainlydressed, You can order wheatgrass kits online, here is one site, you can find more in a google search. It is the same story with my local natural food store, no wheatgrass; actually, they used to carry it, but dropped it due to lack of sales, so I am forced to order online now. As for the Samson, excellent juicer! I have one & I couldn't be more pleased with it. I have jui

Interesting info., Debbie. I learned something new here; I was under the assumption that freezing does not destroy enzymes, as that is what I have been instructed from a great raw foodist - It would seem that he is mistaken, or at least misinformed. I see on your website that David Wolfe also takes about it. Good information on your site - thanks for the link!

Hi Pandito, I am one that swears by a juicer! (lol) I wouldn't be without one, & I do own several. It was my first venture into the raw food/vegan lifestyle. From what I have learned over the years, juice is the only substance that doesn't need to be digested, & is absorbed into the bloodstream very quickly. Smoothies on the other hand, while a great addition to a raw food diet, do

Just an update: No local suppliers in my area stock Bamboo, it is something I will have to special order if I decide to go with it. Also, I am noticing that some companies, not all use "regular" glues that may contain formaldehyde or other resins that will "off-gas". It is my intention to do this right, with no off-gassing building materials, even including the type of

Hellokitty - I don't know if you are a "juicer" or not, but many of the greens are rich in iron. I also make green smoothies with some of these items. Collard greens, kale, mustard greens, spinach, turnip & beet greens, broccoli, swiss chard, asparagus, parsley, watercress, to name a few. Again, I wouldn't go overboard with any particular food, everything in moderation.

Really fighting an uphill battle with this one... I don't have any problem giving up anything "cold turkey" when I know it is bad for my health, but the rest of the family doesn't find it so easy. Too bad so many of us are controlled by our taste buds. And, to add insult to injury, the food companies put all these addictive chemicals in the foods to boot. I haven't had a chance to tr
