I use Namu shoyu (lightly)instead of salt in recipes. It's nice to have raw Tahini on hand for dressings. I always have a good supply of Medjool dates on hand. It's nice to have a stash of almonds if you need almond milk. Raw Agave syrup for seetener. Flax seeds and sesamee seeds.

I also add a couple of medjool dates and just blend it all up with a hand blender.

Instead of hating the weeds on my front I would only pull them when they were going into a salad or smoothie. (Hey, could I do that now???)
The Weed Man would be planting weeds instead of spraying for them!
Fast fruit stands on every corner! Banana peels might become a hazard though!

127. Blank? for my juicer
A friend gave me a used champion juicer this summer and it works well. I would like to process bananas etc through it but I need something called a blank? What is it and where can I get one?

After drinking my first green smoothie I experienced something I had never done before, that was a feeling of being thoroughly nourished by food as opposed to just filled by food. The rest is history.

I love smoothies made with almond milk and real vanilla beans. This weekend I had a banana strawberry one, I had to share it with my mother who usually doesn't like my "baby food" but she always shows up when the strawberries come out. Must try one with cacao.

Good if you're on a SAD diet but doesn't do what a balanced raw food diet will do. I still have 1/2 a jar of expensive greens that I stopped taking once I discovered raw eating. I always mean to use them up but they ruin the taste of my smoothies.

You could try starting a raw food meetup on Meetup.com. That's how I found the Toronto group.

I liked the product, it worked OK but I refused to pay that price a second time. It should be $5.99 not over $20 bucks a jar plus shipping!

138. Light Therapy?
It's not that cold yet here in Toronto yet but I'm craving steamed veggies at night and feeling a bit blue. Could it be lack of sunlight? I sure miss that sun, it tends to stay grey a lot here in winter.
Was reading about light therapy, has anyone tried it?
Don't want to invest in a unit and find it's not worth it.

I remember being in the same boat but I had a bad shoulder so it was a while before I could exercise when I began 80/10/10. But what a difference I noticed when I did! All that extra circulation from exercise moves out the bad stuff way faster AND you get the benefits of exercise.

141. Re: raw meditation
David,
Yes, I think a raw diet is definitely complementary to meditation. I meditate fairly regularly and I have found that since going raw I have the energy to sit in the early hours and the mental clarity to meditate more effectively. The strengths gained in meditation help with "cravings", a big theme in Buddhism.

I can eat canteloupes till they're coming out of my ears and it's been like this for several months. I've always liked them though.
I think perfectly ripe canteloupes like lots of other fruit depend on what state of ripeness they were in when they were picked i.e. not TOO early.
I have a canteloupe growing right now out of the front corner of my house. I did not plant it. I thought it was

Great post.
I would think it depends on how "clean" you are and how efficient your digestive tract is. I find it really hard to eat to 2000 cals a day but usually get at least 1200 - 1500 cals. I'm at 103 lbs now and 5'7" tall.
I usually try to let myself experience some hunger once a day but mostly eat when I feel like it and stop when I'm full.
I've been transitioning

I was pleasantly surprised to find raw corn delicious. I thought it would be chewy and starchy but the corn I've been getting is mostly excellent. I have been having it on my zucchini pasta or just about everthing I eat for dinner almost every night for the past few weeks. Sounds good in mango salsa rankdurian, will be trying that.

146. avocado oil
I use oils sparingly but when I do I find myself using avocado oil now (for marinated veggies). I find it lets flavours through without "oiliness". It is expensive though!!
It also makes a great pesto with lemon, cilantro garlic and ground almonds.

It's been almost a year since I started. I am 98% raw most days, I still have my tea in the morning. The shoulder is all healed and I'm working out regularly at the gym.
Waking up in the mornings just a year ago too many days I felt like I was coming down with the flu, I felt awful! I could not get up from sitting without pain and stiffness, it had become a normal part of me and I just accept

My body lead the way. I started with green smoothies, at the time I thought Victoria Boutenko was very courageous being all raw, she was the first raw food advocate I had ever come across.
Anyway I felt such a difference in the way I felt when I started her green smoothies I just had to try and eat more raw. In the beginning I ate raw during the day but still had cooked brown rice and steamed
