HIYA! Yeah, if you save seeds, the concentration of any ag chemical will decrease over the generations. Plant the seeds from that pumpkin outside your door and next year's pumpkins will have less chemical than this pumpkin. I don't know how many generations it takes before all the chemical is gone. Not many I think.

You live in San Diego, so I imagine there are Asian and Latin American markets. Must be plenty. Try those.

Just got this from "Living and Raw Foods Articles and Information" way down not far from the bottom. FISH IN YOUR NORI by Jeremy Safron (www.lovingfoods.com) Nori (the sea vegetable) grows as a lettuce in the ocean. It is harvested often in big nets and with it many fish are scooped up. This combination of seaweed, shrimp, crabs, snails, barnacles, and small fish are all grou

HIYA! I just finished reading the zeolite thread from a few weeks back. Really interesting. I'll likely give this a try. But I want to see what brands people have been using. I only saw that Mike strongly urges NCD. But what else is out there that you've tried and liked? And can you recommend any good online sources?

Tell me blue_sky, do you prefer Malaysian durian over Thai monthon? Have you tried the local durians from the south of Thailand? I lived there for a couple of years (southern Thailand) and ate a good portion of both. I prefer the monthon but know some people who prefer the local. I have tried the Malaysian varieties that Malaysians have told me were the best. But I never could tell much differenc

I've eaten lots of durian but never had frozen durian. And I've probably never felt dehydrated afterwards. I am interested to try a frozen durian though.

Hmmm... good question. In the sense that animals are killed in the process of growing it and getting it to us, then broccoli, like every other food, could not be. I don't want to get anal about this. I eat seaweed and am happy to eat it. Thanks for asking and getting me to think about this a bit further.

Just like I don't consider honey to be vegetarian. Animals die so that we can eat it. I recently saw a small marine creature, dead and dried up in the seaweed that I was eating. I ate the little creature too. Having said this, I do see an important difference between this type of non-veg food and factory farmed animal foods. Worlds apart, in a sense. That little sea creature had a life. I do

Taylor, I've often read that we shouldn't drink anything 15 or 20 minutes before a meal. And then to wait afterwards anywhere's from an hour to several hours depending on what we've eaten. So I sort of wonder then, why is it okay to mix water with blended foods? Is there any difference between drinking water, then eating, and blending foods and water? Of course, my stomach says yes, but my he

David Mason, I like this one a lot: -Some folks HAVE to have detox and negative experiences before they will be MOTIVATED to make a change. A strong motivation wins out over a shaky discipline just about every time! Ha! ha! and Can you elaborate on this a little? I sort of get it, but sort of not. Intriguing just the same. -You won't succeed if you are miserable. You would be sabota

I usually eat alone! At work and at home. At work I usually eat something I've brought from home. I don't eat out much. It's cheaper this way and of course I've got more control of what I eat this way. I don't often go out with people to eat. On occasion I'll go out with my boss and then I will usually have something cooked. I am a Buddhist so I go to a Zen Buddhist temple nearly every Su

I also feel frustrated with my diet and slow digestion. One important thing is to be okay with frustration!! Seems like an oxymoron, doesn't it. It isn't. I also drink lots of water, usually about two liters a day. And get lots of fiber. I walk a lot, and do yoga fairly often. I've read that sitting on the toilet in the conventional way isn't ideal. We should squat. I usually put my feet

This is an interesting, and for me a very useful thread. I am now in South Korea, eating quite a bit of kimchi. I haven't noticed anything detrimental from it. I quite like it. But I also realize that I'm not reading the signals as closely as would be ideal. Going to help make some kimchi next week! Bryan, this is ...ly cool of you. It's so .... Bryan, this is ...ly cool of you. It's so .... "I feel the pain as much as I can so that the next time, I might be motivated try something different." Right on. I don't do this enough. But starting the very next time I make a choice that leads to pain. Not only food choices, but any choice. Of course, none of us are victims. The word "force" is also mistaken. N

I haven't posted hardly at all the past couple of days. The temples are all over the country. I lived at two of them. The group is called Santi Asoke. Fairly well known in Thailand, mostly as vegetarians, or as heretics, or both! There are lots of fruit trees, lots of papayas and bananas because they're so easy to grow. But there are other fruits as well. Vegetable gardens are more common

You say you stayed there, meaning you stayed as a short term visitor, doing a course, or, did you stay long term, or, just what was your status there? Tell me more please. I lived at a couple of Buddhist temples in Thailand for four years. With organic farms. It's really gr

Mono ...! I start work in the afternoon so when I have greens, and I do enjoy them, I'll have them in the morning. I often eat two meals. The second is between 4 and 6 pm or so, a little at a time because of my work schedule. There's no time to deal with vegetables at work. So easy to eat fruit is the best thing at work. And fruit with vegetables in the late morning. I do want to start out with s

Arugula, you don't know "the correct" way to live, do you? I'm confused by your post. If you did know the correct way, you wouldn't need to read so many studies, and woulnd't ever modify your diet. I'm confused by your post, Arugula.

HIYA! The more I read where people are doing really well on high fruit, low fat, low protein diets, the more I lean toward jumping into it. When I feel like eating this fruit, eat it, when I feel like eating that fruit, eat it? And add some tender baby greens regularly? And some fats regularly? Is that all there is to it? Arugula, (and others) I know you'll disagree, and highly I r

Rawdev, WHERE are you?! Uti, sounds real real cool. I teach (but few are learning!) English to mostly little kids in South Korea. I came here for two reasons. One, to make money cause I was nearly broke (after 7 years in Thailand where I found fabulous ways to do very little paid work) and plan to return to the US at the end of this year. And two, to learn Korean style Zen (Seon, as it's

I just met a guy today, who is, I think, 100% raw, though not vegan. We'll meet again tomorrow. We're both English teachers on a small island in South Korea. There aren't even many vegetarians here, I was surprised to find a rawie. I myself am not 100% raw, nor consistently vegan. If I had a friend, I might, stress might, be more consistently raw and / or more consistently vegan. Uti, I,

Mainly for health. Yet I still haven't really fully embraced that very reason. I slip and slide all the time. Like the past few days. I suppose it's detox that I react to with those old foods, and with eating too much raw food. But health is still my main reason for staying with it as much as I do.

HIYA! I'm intrigued by the idea of mono eating. I've never tried it as a way of life. But when I consider whether a person could get all the nutrients they need EACH day (or even most days), it seems unlikely. I could go to fitday.com and the other one but I'd rather ask for comments here! Or, I'll do the other as well, but not just now. Bryan, I've seen where you posted some typical days

HIYA! Do you really wait until your hungry before you eat? I do believe it's best, but the times I am truly hungry before I eat are rare. There are times in the morning when I won't eat until I'm hungry. I usually eat pretty late in the morning so there are times that I'm hungry before I eat. Then even without having a big meal, I won't get hungry until who knows when. I seldom wait. It's a bi

HIYA! Yeah, cool cool story Uti. There is something to your face that reminds me of someone I knew in the past. I have no idea who though! So you and Bryan both live on an ashram. That explains a couple of things. The reason I asked is that I plan to be back in Cal later this and will want a place to call home. I've looked around on the internet for Buddhist temples, and, for intentional com
