I made these for my site. I'm going to do more, but I just wanted to share them with you. ---

Well, what do you usually eat in a typical day? I would give suggestions, but I am at a loss. Also, it's true - if you are eating salt, you could be retaining water. I'm excited to hear your response, I want to help. <3

Coffee has always made my heart race, me feel dehydrated, and given me a headache amongst other things...I think it's very bad...without it, I definitely have more energy.

I agree with David - eat heavier foods. Too much fruit in the diet, solely consisting of high amounts of questionable or highly hybridized (although this is not true for all fruits, many, such as seedless commercial produce, GMO fruits, etc.) items WITHOUT proper detox will definitely cause sleeplessness. Most fruitarians and raw foodists can assimiliate these as good sources of nutrition, but i

You can purchase single coconuts from there to try them, and then you can order a case if they're good enough. Typically, coconuts will be from 2-5 dollars, not 8. I'm not sure why you're getting the answer that you can only order them a few times a year. If I were you, I would scour my area for Asian markets. I live in upstate New York and there are several very close to me that all carry

Isn't maple syrup in the master cleanse? I've never done it. It looks like it's just a glorified liquid fast with spicy/acidic ingredients thrown in to make people think that they're eliminating lots of bad wastes, which they probably are, but in a different way. I think a water fast supplemented with fresh lemon juice would be just as beneficial, if not moreso...and I wouldn't want to consume sa

I feel you. I live in New York, so I know how it gets in the winter. My advice... Cheap staple fruits - have mono fruit days when you feel that you're not at your best and weight gain may be resulting from eating cooked food. The fruits that are cheap throughout winter are bananas, citrus (oranges, grapefruits, etc. are usually abundant here), apples, and pears. Greens for dinner. One o

I don't know, I think it's pretty safe to assume that the raw gourmet stuff is completely unhealthy. Frederic Patenaude pointed it out best (excerpted from Raw Secrets): "To avoid the pitfall of cooked food, raw foodists have created an array of raw recipes that resemble their favorite cooked dishes. Let's take a look at a popular raw food recipe called the "Nut Loaf", which is

Hello, all. I just wanted to ask if anyone else gets really scared about the FDA irradiating, cloning, modifying, and doing all sorts of bad things to the fresh produce supply. Sometimes I get really worried that I won't be able to afford or find fresh fruits and vegetables in the future because everyone says the FDA is so against the raw foods/alternative medicine movement and wanted to even

The GI index means nothing to me as I'm living proof that you can eat sugary (never really thought of them as that - they are natural, far from processed cane sugar!) fruits and lose weight. Almost everything is hybridized according to unnamed sources in articles like these, and yes, bananas are, but I also agree, I don't think they're that bad. They're really cheap and if you're hungry, they're

I never drank milk when I was a little kid because once I had a sip of spoiled milk at the age of six and permanently rejected it! It's truly disgusting, as though beverages weren't designated to be refreshing...milk is thick and strange tasting from what I remember. I would gladly eat a fruit off of a vine, but I could never bring myself to drink milk directly from its source!

Here I come with my barrage of Q + A's for everyone! If you can help out with any of these it'd be greatly appreciated! 1. Beet juice? I've only consumed beet juice a few times in my life. However, today at the juice bar I decided to have a blend that included beets, and was immediately reminded upon taking a few sips that beet juice gives me a horrible headache almost on impact. It also make

I don't think there's any way that alcohol is good for you, although I do think if anything, wine should be your first choice. Hard liquor smells and tastes like poison, which it is. If you consume too much of it, or it in the wrong combination with medication, you end up with alcohol poisoning, or with a massive headache the next day. I wouldn't really want to drink something like that. Every ti

First and foremost, I wasn't sure which forum to put this in, but here goes. I'm reading my CPR booklet for my professional rescuer's course in CPR at the Red Cross. I have another class tomorrow night and then my written exam (I think), and I missed the first hour of my last class. Apparently all professionals who have occupational exposure to hepatitis B + C, etc., need to get vaccinated.

another acronym: wtf. I don't like this. We need to separate and make a raw state or small country using the power of civil disobedience. Granted, there will be lots of strange ones running around like Johnny Lovewisdom, but it'd be fun.

I think I have another dinner today, but last night I just had celery sticks and played with Hershey's Kisses foil on my plate while everyone else ate. Good thing I'm the youngest, I don't get bothered much by anyone and they already know I only eat raw as I've eaten things like apples and bits from vegetable platters at past events. Even though it's raw, I also declined wine because I feel it wo

Not sure if there have been any posts about this before, but I just decided to make sugar wax (for removing leg/underarm/bikini/any hair, really) by myself because the salon charges $40 for it, and it was incredibly easy. I think I have the consistency right, it's still cooling, but I'm going to give it to my friends for Christmas presents, and it's a great use of cheap white sugar. The

For a water fast, my recommendations are to make sure you eat sufficiently (well rounded, diverse types of food that will satisfy any cravings that you might encounter over the next few days: greens are excellent), but don't overeat prior to the fast. You want to make sure that whatever you're doing for the time that you're fasting isn't strenuous - i.e., don't do it when you have a grueling week

The sour taste in your mouth is probably from the chestnuts. I never eat nuts anymore but last winter I started to and I noticed that I got that symptom whenever I ate them.

hmm, I don't think I could follow this acid/alkaline thing, fruits are too important to me and I don't eat any seeds or avocados, so there goes half the chart. Haha.

I use a blender or a handheld blender to mix spinach, a banana, and some ginger or additional fruit. Someone on this board said that greens helped them digest bananas better, and the idea is foremost to get your greens, then to not get greens stuck in your teeth early in the morning, and to make them taste better/sweeter, as well.

This is so amazing! Thank you all for telling me about yourselves. Prism, you really did help me with that idea of looking at what you did when you were a child...I definitely feel strongly about becoming a nurse or teacher at this point, but who knows. I would like to post a response to each and every one of you. All of your jobs seem so interesting. Right now I would say I'm a high school st

Well, first and foremost, I would like to know, what do the raw foodists on this board do for their occupations? I'm about to choose which colleges & majors to select and I'm curious as to what you guys do for a living. I'm interested in nursing, teaching, Russian language studies, and art, by the way. Also, does it bother anyone else when they see stuff like this? I hate it when people

Fuyus are good when they seem overripe. Mine always have spots but I eat them anyways. The skin is usually the best part of a fruit, and is especially true for fuyus. I never knew Hachiyas had to turn a dark color! I've only had them twice and I knew to let them ripen past their astringent hardness stage, but I didn't know you could ripen them further. Thank you for that.

I always hear people talking about fruit being too "hybrid", "sugary", etc. What are we supposed to eat instead? Less fruit? More fats (avocados, nuts) and greens? Non-sweet fruits? What is and isn't hybrid? I've heard that papayas are genetically modified, any fruit without seeds is bad news, and that grapes are too sugary. I eat all of these foods and I could care l
