I never gain weight from fruit sugars. This makes no sense to me and sounds like the logic of those on SAD-diets. Fruit sugars wouldn't make you retain water in any way comparable to salt. Salt is an irritant that isn't meant for human consumption and is thus eliminated painfully like one. I don't understand this.

Persimmons are 1.28 for small fuyus at Wal*Mart here. I bought three today but I'm going to look for Hachiyas later at local grocery stores. I think they're less expensive in the smaller markets, actually. I still wish there was somewhere I could order them online in bulk! Sigh.

Whatever, my diet is the most important thing to me. I would go without cable, new clothes, and use the library more than Barnes & Noble if it meant upholding my standards in what I consume.

Hachiyas are so unpredictable. That chalky taste is the WORST. I just had two fuyus for dinner and they were perfectly overripe and delicious. I wish I could afford more persimmons. Isn't there anywhere to order them online?

Is there any way to partially or completely prevent aging skin? I've read that abstaining from using hormone therapy, the pill, drugs, alcohol, etc. completely will ensure you perfect skin, along with the ultimate diet (raw) and enough sleep. My mom used to have beautiful skin but she started to become depressed and eat a lot of SAD food and take medications and now she looks quite puffy in the f

The watermelon here is out of season but it's still very good and relatively inexpensive. With citrus fruits in the winter, I usually buy a box of clementine tangerines and it's less expensive than purchasing individual fruits.

Ugh. Getting enough vitamin D seems impossible. It's too cold to sit outside here, and I avoided the sun with UVB block all summer because I don't want to get wrinkles... why does vitamin D have to exist?

I'm deficient in a lot of things, but I am also severely vitamin D deficient. I live in New England and there isn't a lot of sun here at all, especially in the winter. Help on dietary suggestions? I don't eat fats...

I think that bananas aren't fattening as long as they're eaten in moderation, and the diet is low-fat in itself. I think a lot of people believe in excess when they eat raw, because they're told they can eat anything they want, but bananas aren't the type of food that this "rule" applies to. My theory is that they are not high calorie or fat-filled, but they are very starchy and hav

I met a dumpster diver once. He was miserably pretentious and brought me rotting tomatoes, slimy bananas, and slimy mushrooms. Yuck.

I'm not going to revert to cooked food. Steamed vegetables, air-popped popcorn - that's the extent of my cooked food adventures. Cooked food just makes me feel all-over ill. I just mean I shouldn't really participate in this community because I know I'm depriving myself, and that's not what raw is about. I'll check back every so often.

I tried eating fats on Friday. I felt really uncomfortable and nervous about it so I'm probably not going to try it again for a little while. I didn't weigh myself. Since, I've lost weight by lowering my intake. My mom doesn't care about what I eat anymore, at least she hasn't said anything. I'm sorry to have started fights among everyone. I am starting to think that the raw diet isn't for me, be

I'm trying to lose about 20-30 lbs. I'm 5'7" and I weigh about 130, I think. My scale is broken, but it's only a few lbs. off. I'm going to start including fats once a week and see what happens from there. I appreciate your concern. Yeah. I would rather be healthy thin with beautiful, youthful skin than emaciated thin with dried out, lackluster skin, and wrinkling, I suppose.

I don't eat any fat, at all. Yes, yes, I know there's negligible amounts of fat in the spinach, lettuce, etc. that I eat, but I don't count that. In a typical day I'll have some berries, melon, a salad or cherry tomatoes/carrots, a little tropical fruit like mango or papaya, and maybe another serving of raw vegetable or fruit (like an apple) later. It comes up to anywhere from 700-900+ calories a

i eat a pretty much nonfat raw diet. it consists of lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, berries, melon, papaya, greens, mangos, and some other odds and ends. my mom says that if i continue eating this way my metabolism will shut down, and she suspects it already has. she also says that sweet fruits are too sugary and that i'll gain weight or develop problems from eating just them. i have eaten anywher

If I lived without shipped food I wouldn't be able to afford my diet. I'd be eating basil, rocket, spinach, some tomatoes, and maybe some berries and apples.

I tried using plain apple cider vinegar the other day because I couldn't remember what I was supposed to do with it. I left it in a plastic can top and three flies sat by the edges of it but didn't do anything to it. I'm goin

Ugh, this makes my head hurt. I feel like one day I'm going to have to starve to death instead of eating the only thing I want - the world's most simplistic source of food, that has been repeatedly raped by our country. That was really melodramatic. Hahahaha. But it's how I feel.

I second the greens, lots of water, and Vitamin C rich foods. You should make sure she gets all of those dark leafy greens that kwan advised and give her cantaloupe, oranges, and anything else that will aid in their absorption.

It's probably either a zinc or iron deficiency. For iron, dried thyme (add it to salads or smoothies - my sister gave me organic thyme from her garden and I use it all the time), spinach, etc. are all good. For zinc, sesame and pumpkin seeds. You can always look on the World's Healthiest Foods site for more options to add into his diet. I use that site when looking up mineral/vitamin rich food
