The vet I use is pro raw food, he even sells ground chicken (to be on the safe side I guess) right at his office, he'a a good vet. He doesn't say much about raw feeding but when I asked him once about vegetables he said just give them cooked vegetables regularly. Maybe he said this because of the 'dogs can't digest raw vegetables' theory? My dogs live on a staple of organic chicken mostly wit

Don't even think about eating a pineapple unless it's dark yellow. If it's pale yellow look out. I know how you feel :<

Among other things I was told I had some arthritis in my knee. I too was stiff and sore, could not turn my head when I had to pass a car on the highway. Very rarely feel pain in my knee anymore and I can stretch like a cat now. I feel the elasticity in my joints again. My head turns this way and that now with ease and no pain. It feels so good.

Denise, I am a reader too and I had that exact same fear when I started my raw journey over a year ago. I wouldn't worry for a minute about being too sensitive to toxins. It would be many years of totally 100 % raw and colonics/fasting etc to get you that clean and by then you would have a much different perspective and level of health, more than you know. The benefits I've experienced

Yogini, I found it fairly easy to give up when I went raw. I still drink tea though and even still have a coffee now and then but coffee makes me crave baked goods when I drink it so I stay away mostly. Do a search, there has been a couple of discussions recently around coffee on these threads.

I love my Vita Mix, get the one with a speed control. I'm having green smoothies every day made with lots of organic romaine, a couple of big juicy oranges and a ripe pear.

Phantom, I have had to give up more than just eating whatever I wanted to arrive at those peak moments. I have gone from a shapely size 9 - 10 to a scrawny 3 -4. I have to shop every day and spend more than I can always afford on food. I have had to live through a crisis of confidence my family and friends have had about my sanity (no! I'm not anorexic!!). Yet how could I go back to eating

Coffee give me cravings right away and it's never for fruit and veggies, more like a sandwich or a cookie. So I stay away from it.

Harley and Red look like sweethearts and I know how much you love them. I've known a lot of dogs over my life and none are such characters as JRT's. They never forget their priviledges and never let me forget them either. My little Harry puts on a very tough act in front of pit bulls and the like , they both do. When I walk them in the neighbourhood they are like a couple of thugs the way the

I stay fat free till dinner. Currently I have a large green smoothie on the way to work made of 4 - 5 cups of organic greens and a couple of oranges and a pear (or whatever fruit I have) thrown in. At work I have 6 - 7 nectarines for breakfast. For lunch 5 - 6 bananas and some other fruit i.e. cherries, canteloupe, mangoes, more nectarines. Sometimes a cucumber. Depends on what looks good/

I think you'll find the anti raw information often claims we need meat to be healthy. But if you check out "The China Study" by T Colin Campbell you will find that meat goes hand in hand with disease and obesity. There is lots of science claiming fruits and veggies are good for us, even cooked. This should not be hard to find at all. But people are actually addicted to less than

>>Especially with experiencing raw energy and freedom, there is a chaotic element to being so unfettered that is definitely spiritual... planetary... transcendental... And something awesome happens when you recognize that chaos and potential in everything and everyone around you, whether you are concerned with a god or not.<< Wow Phantom, beautifully put.

Am just discovering cocnut oil myself, mostly as a moisturiser/cleanser/hair conditioner. Am tempted to eat some now tho. Re the religious argument - this is an interesting article about the 4 different stages of "belief in God" humans can be in. An interesting read. I think most raw foodists will find themselves in stage IV whatever we decscribe God as - or God not as.

My brother-in-law who knows of my keen interest in raw whole foods sent me this e-mail. >>You are what you eat, so eat well. A stupendous insight of civilizations past has now been confirmed by today's investigative, nutritional sciences. They have shown that what was once called 'The Doctor in of Signatures' was astoundingly correct. It now contends that every whole food has a pattern

I tried that stuff once in my early raw days too. Doesn't taste anything like the almond milk you make in a blender with raw almonds, vanilla and dates strained through a nut bag.

If it's real fresh and ripe and organic it's always pretty near perfect. And if I get a mango that fits that description - that is the perfect food to me but I don't think most of us could live on just one thing.

sebzzz, It's been well over a year of transitioning to raw for me and my body is now my friend. I go for light 40 minute runs a few times a week and have virtually no problems with my knees etc etc etc anymore. I couldn't do that on SAD eating even 15 years ago when I used to run a bit. Too much pain and tiredness. And I'm still noticing improvements as time goes on and I'm 53 yrs old. Just g

Coco, Unbelievably I alone create about 2 gallons a day of f & v scraps. Have a small garden but am worried I may attract raccoons if I compost. I've seen them on the fence and I don't want them or my dogs to get hurt. Will try to think of someplace I can dump some of it, hmmm...

My organic butcher says that many farmers care greatly about their animals. He said some treat them like their children. : [ Well I had to hold my tongue but until I'm convinced that I can have a happy healthy pet on lentils and eggs (pls tell me if if you know this to be true anyone) I am open to trying. Does anyone reading this have a vegetarian (carnivore) pet? Would a like anolgy be

I could do without a dehydrator but sometimes it's fun to make crackers or sweet stuff. I often use mine for dog crackers too, then I know they're "fresh" and nutritious. i.e. zucchini carrot blueberries and pumkin seeds.

Sometimes we need a little crisis to set us in the right direction. Use this to move forward, it sounds as if you are ready. Read a good raw food book. There are so many, some have recipes, some are lifestyle, detox, some are about raw spirit too. So many great books to motivate you wherever you are starting from! Natural Hygeine is a fascinating topic too, gives you a new understanding of

Mira, Sebzzz, Cynthia, I used to spend time every summer for years in Val David in the Laurentians. I miss it so much now it hurts when I think about it. The cottage on Golden Lake was sold by my ex's family evntually. If I ever go back there how will I be able to resist those crepes? The restaurant was Le Tournesol I believe.
