Yup!! On this site - go to recipes - go to Dressings and Sauces and you will find a recipe for no bean hummus. It's made with zucchini. Also, you can use the exact recipe, only substitute 2 cups of sprouted chickpeas for the zucchini. There's a little bit of a trick to using the chickpeas. They should only be sprouted for one day - tiny, tiny little tails. Then, put them in a food processor a

Natures First Law sells some peanuts that supposedly don't have any aflatoxins and can be eaten raw - pricey, but raw. They taste great! Can you tolerate seeds? You can make milk from sesame seeds. Pumpkin seeds are pretty versatile. You can buy raw cashews from Natural Zing, Eat Raw, NFL and a host of other web sites - also raw cashew butter. You might try using tahini in some recipes and

This is just my opinion. And not only that - but I also reserve the right to change it! But, having said that - I question the logic in making the attempt to reduce swelling in the case of a twisted ankle. A sprained ankle is often weakened. I found in the case of my own sprained ankle last spring (I twisted it and fell down on my very FIRST day of vacation in Sedona!) that just leaving it al

Hey coconutcream! Those pictures that you posted on the "Tree of Life" thread were awesome! I have a question for you. I was in Patagonia last spring with my son. We were on our way to the lake to swim and canoe and we stopped into the local health food store for goodies for our picnic. While I was there I saw the coolest quote on a little sign. I was going to write it down, b

So, is it possible to sign up for an apprenticeship and either work in the garden or learn the un-cooking without having to do the supplement thing? Perhaps know ahead of time what to expect in terms of people having melt-downs, would be helpful and make it more do-able. I was there for lunch once - the food was fabulous. I walked for a while in the labyrinth and enjoyed the big, big sky!

I eat mushrooms regularly. Some raw foodists think that raw mushrooms aren't healthy - I forget why. I put them in soups - a couple of hours before I'm going to eat them - so that they marinate and taste liked cooked. I also make a Thanksgiving-like stuffing and stuff button mushrooms and then dehydrate them. Sometimes I blend mushrooms with salt or miso and water and some olive oil and mak

What's your opinion/experience with coconut oil? I'm reading a book by Bruce Fife and the way he describes it, it sounds like the "fountain of youth" and the answer to everything. What da ya think? Life Is Good! alive!

I've never tried broccoli - don't think it would be so great. cucumbers make it light and airy and very fresh. Most of the time when we talk of putting greens in our smoothies, we are refering to leafy greens: spinach, kale, parsley, romaine, etc. Plus what ever fruit you desire. Frozen bananas are a good addition to make it cold and thick like a milkshake. I like to add cinnamon and ginger

Speaking of eating more greens: I wash a whole big bunch of greens in the morning and throw a few leaves into the blender and coerce it into making a fruit and greens smoothie. Then I put the rest of the greens into the food processor and spin them around a few times. I use half in a salad at noon and then the rest in a soup in the evening. This way I'm making sure that I eat at least a whole

Thanks for posting that, coconutcream! My husband and I just "discovered" Lost during the summer. We just kept renting the videos till we got all caught up. It was like an addiction for a while. We would promise ourselves "just one more episode" and then we'll get some sleep". But then when it ended, we'd watch another one! I don't usually watch a lot of TV and don'

Tomato-veg soup. I blended 4 plum tomatoes and 10 grape tomatoes along with some salt, onion powder, olive oil, garlic clove, bit of agave nectar. The olive oil made it creamy. Poured it into a bowl and then added chopped: a tomato, some onion, kale, zuchinni and some sunflower sprouts. Yummy - and it made enough to have some tomorrow - less work! Life Is Good! alive!

Here's something that I LOVE. It's not the #1 healthiest thing that I eat, but I've found that even people who eat the SAD like it. My hubby's loves it. This was origially posted by "24 Carrots" on the recipe forum. (I miss her and wish that she'd come back. She moved to Texas and posted that she would be off-line for a while. I think that was back in June! Where the heck are y

Hey Yogamamma! I've been wondering how you were getting along with your new Vitamix! I'm still working on the hubby! It's just a matter of time! I make a lot of aggrivated noises whenever I'm blending something - which is often! (making sure that he hears all the drama) I have to stop it and stir.....stop it and stir.... and it sometimes takes forever to get a smoothie made... which brin

I've been doing the "apple pie" thing, too. I blend dates, water, lemon juice and a dash of salt and some cinnamon. Mix it up with the sliced apples (don't peel them) and plop them in a plate and put them into the dehydrator. It makes the house smell soooo good! Share them with my hubby later in the evening. No need for crust or fat or icky things! Life Is Good! alive!

TFO - that was a pretty amazing post by solstrummr! Maybe you might want to re-think your decision. Those of us who post on here regularly might be the more vocal minority of a larger and more silent majority. If your heart is in the right place and you are about "giving" of yourself and your experiences (and I believe you are) then you can be assured that everytime you feel the urge

WOW! Great question, arugula! Thanks for asking it. My story is a journey for sure. I read Diet For a New America by John Robbins over 15 years ago and my life was impacted in many ways. I became veg and then vegan very quickly. My 10 year old son followed my steps soon afterward. My motivation was mostly my love of animals, with the environmental and health issues as added benefits of

Hi Rosemary! I'm no expert, by I do have a site with some info. www.stopthethyroidmadness.com I haven't read all the info on the site, but they do have a list of foods and you might be able to find out about the "fermented affects" from them. Let us know what you find out. I went for years eating every bit of soy that I could - thinking that I was doing "great things&quo

Well, if you're anything like me - you could let go of your nose - but then you're going to start gagging or maybe even throw up!!!!! The best suggestion I can give is: increase your greens - any greens that you like and tolerate well. Drink fruit smoothies with greens mixed in. Make marinated kale salads - chopping the kale in a food processor - you can eat more that way. Eventually your

Shep252, Hang in there! I know what you mean about the sun and also about the cold outside. We've had colder than usual weather with lots of clouds and rain. I miss the sun, too. Maybe you need more variety in your diet. Why don't you try making yourself some raw soups? It works for me. There are plenty or recipes around and if you have a blender, it's pretty easy and fast. For anyone who's trying to reduce or eliminate caffeine from their bodies, there's a GREAT book that I recommend. It's called CAFFEINE BLUES by Stephen Cherniske. When it comes to making positive changes in our lives, knowledge is power. The more we know and understand about the reasons to change, the better able we are to actually carry it out - whether it has to do with food choices, ex
