Taylor, Congrats on your enthusiasm and on your weight loss. You seem to be doing a great job at making healthy choices. However, if I may make a suggestion, please do some reading and research before fasting. I'm not an expert (I've only done the master cleanse for 10 days - once) so I can't advise you. Except to say that water fasting is a serious shock to the system - and I'm not saying

I live with my husband - standard american diet - I call him SAD guy! I don't cook anything any more - except to heat some soup from time to time - being careful not to heat too much. If I'm organized, I sometimes just set a bowl of soup in my dehydrator for later when I'm hungry - especially if it's already running in order to dry something else. Yes, I agree, it is much easier to not have

My experience is - drink more water. Even if you think that you already drink a lot of water - try increasing it by one or better yet two glasses per day and see if "things" change. When eating raw, we usually don't need to increase our fiber - just the water. Especially if you include ANY dehydrated foods in your diet or nut butters. LIfe Is Good! alive!

When you say that you failed, exactly what happened? Buckwheat is mucilagenic (sp?) - gets very slimy. You just have to rinse it really well. I use a collandar that's got real small holes and just rinse and rinse till it's no longer slimy. Does that help? Life Is Good! alive!

Taylor - it sounds like you're doing great! Just keep it up. And yes - our heads DO spin with all the new info and ideas. Go easy on yourself and don't make the mistake of demanding too much from yourself too fast. Like Bryan said - it took him years to get to where he is right now. Many who try to change too much too quickly start to feel like it's just too hard and they tend to fall

Good for you taylor! It sounds like you're coming right along on your journey to vibrant health! For anyone else out there that needs a little push - go to your library and get Caffeine Blues. That should help. Then buy some Teeccino for yourself and "git er dun"!!!! Your energy level will surprise you! Life Is Good! alive!

WOW!!!! Bryan - you have access to all those old threads - before the big crash!! I'm thrilled to see them! Thanks for posting them and I hope that you do so more often! I really miss John Rose. There was once a post by John about religion. I was going to copy it and never got around to it. Then the system crashed and it was lost. If you can find it and post it on the OT forum I wou

If you are trying to give up coffee - or if you just want something warm and filling on these cold winter nights - or if you already drink Teeccino (coffee substitute made from fruits, nuts &seeds) you can get a good deal at Amazon.com You have to buy a case of 6, but it's a great bargain at about $5.oo per can. Also, if you use stevia in packets, you can get a great deal on 1000 packet

Thanks Taylor and rawrocks! I've been playing around with your ideas and here's what I came up with. I used a mixture of sprouted buckwheat and sprouted sunflower seeds. For one of the batches, I soaked them in a mixture of Nama Shoyu, lemon juice, a dash of agave nectar and cumin. I let them marinate overnight and then dehydrated them till crunchy. I'm using them on salads as croutons. V

She could use Parchment paper. I like it better than anything else that I've used. You might remind your friend to make sure the little guy gets extra water since dehydrated foods can make us dehydrated too. In his case that might equate to constipation- without extra liquids. Life Is Good! alive!

I'm having a green smoothie with the meat and water of a coconut - as I type! My hubby just recently bought me a cleaver and look out - no coconut on the planet is safe now! I LOVE the things! I haven't really started playing around with recipes, but I did notice that Sarma Mengailis (Raw Food Real World) cuts coconut meat into thin strips and uses them as pasta with a peanut sauce. Some

Ian, you rock!! I'm 55 and married, but if I wasn't - I'd be Ian hunting Here's what makes me alive! Kayaking - the Weeki Wachi river in Florida, the Colorado River in Colorado, also in Utah, Salt River in Arizona, Florida Keys, etc. However one of my favorites is just the little old Sugar Creek here at home in Indiana. I LOVE to take people with me that have never been in a kayak before

Hey rawrnr! Congrats on being almost raw for a week! That's great! It's probably too early to judge if your appetite to eat, eat and eat are due to parasites or just "because". Not to dispute the parasite theory - I imagine we are all carrying around more of those rascals than is good for us. My experience when I first went raw was that I was hungry and a bit anxious and un

Hello all you raw-ies! I was just looking around the Natura Zing site and getting ready to place an order. I was on the supplements pages and clicked on vitamins. I was wondering if anyone here has ever used the Living Vitamin b nano-plex liquid? I'd like to know, before ordering if anyone has used and been happy with them? They are pricey and I guess I would like the voice of experience befo

Hey, LikeItOrNot! I've never grown wheatgrass, but I would say - go to the Sproutpeople web site and read everything you need to know. I buy potting soil to use for my sunflower greens and others. I compost it and then re-use it. But I'm not really sure that I HAVE to do it that way. I just do - our soil at our house is really poor quality - very hard clay. Good luck with that! Life Is G

What I meant was that I have noticed lots of posts on our raw/living site from people stating that they have to stay away from certain foods - nuts, or maybe roots or perhaps onions, etc. Yes, we need hydrochloric acid to digest any and all foods. If we don't have enough, we can expect disease process to begin. At least that's what I'm understanding. When I first read Green For Life - I was

Sorry to be so vague. What I meant was that I ordered a bottle of hydrochloric acid (tablets or capsules - I don't remember). The way that they tested for low hcl in the Green For Life study was to take one tablet with a meal. If this caused heartburn, then that was an indicator of adequate hcl. If not - then the person was to take 2 tablets at the next meal, if no heartburn, then take three

I was re-reading Victoria Boutenko's book Green For LIfe and started to think about what she has to say concerning hydrochloric acid and am wondering if I am deficient. While hopping around the net, I came across an article that stated that having enough hydrochloric acid in the stomach is about the MOST important dietary consideration that we can make. It speaks of how the knowledge of the imp

Yup - I am there to speak my truth. Only those who are open to it and ready to make some changes really listen. I can only change me, but in the process I can help to inspire others. The best way to teach and inspire is to set the example. That's why it's so important that we are happy in our new lifestyles and go around and "give it away". Folks are much more attracted to someone

Hang in there Tiffany! You can do it, just do it one day at a time and try not to think about having "such a long way to go". Keep your mind in "today". It makes it soooo much easier when living in the now. Keep up that walking and you'll find that this happiness stays with you along the path - even on days where you might hit a plateau in the weight loss part. Congra

The people we CAN change we WILL change and those that we CAN'T change we WON'T change - and we don't get to decide who is who. At least that's been my experience. I've always tried to keep it very simple. I have a neice, son, cousin, 2 friends that have all become either veg. or vegan because of my influence. But my influence wouldn't have meant a thing if they hadn't been open minded, reaso

I try to stay away from frozen foods as much as possible. So many of them are blanched (boiling water) before they are frozen. The nutrition is diminished and we're lookin' for a big increase in nutrition in the foods we eat. However, I understand your issue of keeping foods fresh and eating them before they go bad. I call myself the "produce manager" of our house! It sometimes fe

I agree with the "live and let live" mindset. I use the slogan almost as a mantra in difficult times. BUT - my husband, sister, mother all have weight issues, red meat issues, dairy issues, diabetic issues, great big old butts issues, can't bend over to pick something up very easily issues, bad knees issues, replaced hip joints issues, high blood pressure issues, etc. etc. This is goi

After soaking overnight and sprouting only for one day, I rinse the chickpeas and then put them in the food processor and twirl them around enough to break them up and then put them back into the strainer and rinse them until the water runs clear. Then I put them back into the processor and finish the recipe. I use both tahini and olive oil, salt, cumin, garlic, lemon juice. It gets really cre
