I've never been able to figure out why I have had such an aversion to fruit - all my life. I'm not a picky eater, either. I'll eat most anything - always did (until I woke up and became vegan, of course). But 99.9999% of the time, I would choose veggies over fruit, or at least tomatoes, cucumber, peppers over sweet fruits. I STILL don't know why. I have to make myself eat fruits. I even

Most brands sold at most health food stores aren't actually raw. They have not been roasted, but the processing of the nut have caused them to reach a temperature that's high enough to kill the enzymes. So, you have an unliving product. I was also shocked when I found out about the "not REALLY raw" raw products that I had been eating when I first started the raw journey. Then I wa

It's probably one of those studies that's meant to keep people confused about diet, nutrition and supplements. Many studies are funded by the new mafia (pharmaceutical companies) and then the data is slanted or at least the way the media reports it is slanted and the end result is exactly what was intended - confusion. Raw is best, organic is best, natural foods are best, natural sources fo

I've only done it once for 10 days and am gearing up to do it again next month. You definately got to do the swf. Just leave plenty of time if going to work - maybe get up earlier. Otherwise, you are causing a lot of toxins to be released into your system, but not getting rid of them. I remember having two bad days out of the 10, where I was wimpy, cranky, cold, etc. I found that readi

Mustard sandwiches! I loved them. My dad wouldn't let me eat them, so I would sneak and make one and then hide under the table to eat it! He caught me at my grandmothers house (one of my cousins ratted me out) and made me throw it away! I always thought grown ups were no fun and had no sense of adventure - come to think of it - I still think that more often than not! But not us - we're def

KelBel, I can't say that I've ever had that problem from buckwheat. I rinse it for quite a while, since the water gets so thick and starchy. Then after they have sprouted little tails, I dehydrate them. I've never eaten the buckwheat without sprouting it - maybe that's the difference? Life Is Good! alive!

Hey taylor! Sounds like you're comin' right along!!! I like to make fruit soups (or real thick smoothies) and then pour them over sprouted and dehydrated buckwheat or just sprinkle the buckwheat on top. That might be bad food combining, but it doesn't seem to cause me a problem. I like the crunchiness. Adding a dash of organic (no alcohol) vanilla really jazzes up a fruit dish. LIfe

Hey 24 carrots! Wow - you're here! You've been missed - girl! I thought a cowboy had kidnapped you! I know that you were moving and that you would be getting adjusted. Well, I hope you are adjusted, although I did recently read that "It is no measure of health to be extremely well adjusted to a profoundly sick society"! So, anyway - I'm glad you're back! Hi debbie! I learned most of my sprouting techniques from www.sproutpeople.com They did a terrific job on their web site - explaining everything in great detail. When I sprout sunflowers for greens (for these you use seeds that still have hulls) and then plant them on dirt, I usually find that spreading them thickly (close together) works out well. When the first batch is ready (before t

Well said, Arilraw. I would also add - in order to "let go" as Arilraw suggested, and to make sure that I was not enabling my loved one to continue drinking in a comfortable "no consequences manner" I would get myself to Al-Anon. As a member of AA myself, I would even suggest that you might go to a few AA Open meetings and ask that they do a 1st Step meeting for you. There

Ok - well having said that, here's a suggestion. If you have a dehydrator, you can make some pretty impressive stuffed mushrooms that even SAD eaters will appreciate. I sometimes use chopped onions, celery, parsley, pecans, and mix with some ground flax and salt and water and "poultry seasoning" and it has a Thanksgiving stuffing flavor. Use as a stuffing for the mushrooms. I'm alwa

I still eat sprouted seeds and legumes. I grow sunflower greens, (on dirt) pea shoots, buckwheat greens, and migro-greens - arugula, brocolli, etc. I mostly incorporate them into salads or use them in nori rolls, etc. There are those who think that they are not so healthy, but I seem to thrive on them. I grow small amounts at a time in order to make sure that they are fresh and have no mold.

I haven't figured out exactly why this happens - haven't been able to find it explained - but as we age, our bodies produce less and less hydrochloric acid. Some people actually stop making it. This in turn leads to all kinds of problems and illnesses. Our stomachs need to be acidic in order to do the early stages of digestion. Many, many people who are being treated for acid reflux are a

You might like to try: Rawfoodrightnow.com They have an E-book on just raw Thanksgiving Foods. They gave away 500 copies, but are charging for it now. It's not very expensive. I haven't tried the recipes, but plant to sometime. One thing that I would add - my relatives haven't been very open to my raw foods and usually aren't willing to give up ANYTHING that they equate with Thanksgivin

I discovered watercress this past summer - I bought it at the Sat. morning farmers market - I loved it! My husband recently bought me a bunch at a local store. I would love to grow it or at least talk all the "green thumbs" in my family to grow some for me (I'm known as the black thumb of the family!). I keep trying, though! I thought watercress was something that only grew alo

I took 1 tablet with meals and no heartburn, 2 - no heartburn, 3 - ditto and so today I will start with 4 tablets per meal. I have had a hard decision to make in terms of whether this is the right thing for me to do. I will say, that I

yup! caramel! Also, I couldn't live without romaine! Absolutely LOVE it. I can eat a pound of romaine in a salad! My husband laughs and asks me if I'm going to a family reunion pot luck when he sees my salads! Watermelon and cantelope are usually available - extremely alkaline and don't take prep - whack it in half - grab a spoon! I love the taste of parsley and cilantro - I eat them

Hey Cukes! Yup - that's part of detoxing - increases and changes in body odors. After 2 years raw, I still notice a bit of increase in bo when I improve my diet by reducing acidic foods and increasing alkaline foods. I'll probably experience it again in the spring when I cut down on nuts and seeds and up my fruit. Congratualtion - it will pass soon. Life Is Good! alive!

OK - for starters, I'm coming to believe that alkaline is everything! I recently read Alkalize or Die by Baroody. I don't know that I believe everything he says, but the fundamental theory seems right on. Diseases can't thrive in an alkaline environment. Life Is Good! alive!

After being vegan for 16 years and raw for two, I still have to work at not having a negative reaction toward people who make fun of my lifestyle. With my family I usually laugh and tell them they'll be glad that I'm around to take care of their sorry asses when they've ruined their health! I tell my sister that I'm going to be real mean to her!!! With close friends - I usually make a teas
