Tamukha, I googled the words sprouting dark and here's some interesting links Both mention growing in the dark. Interesting! I never thought of it... Maybe I will use my oven for sprouting.

Yeah, I remember reading that Bryan had cut out a lot of this stuff and I thought he was being extreme... well, now I find myself desiring less and less of it. I am into the pure, sometimes subtle taste of my food more. I haven't cut out all that stuff but I do desire it less than I used to.

I always come back to this site. When the wannabe gurus get their panties in a twist on the main board, check out the juicing and blending forum or the recipes forum. I have learned much from many posts all over this site. There are lots of good suggestions and lots of positive people living in the light. I'm glad you are diggin' it! I LOVE THIS FOOD.

Sapphire, Thanks for posting this. On the one hand, I thought, what a good thing. But, then, I also thought, how sad that havign a fruit or vegetable snack twice a week is an unusual thing for some children. I'm glad they are doing it. I only wish they didn't HAVE to do it.

Yeah... ditto to Sundancer and Kwan. When I have to, I tell people I eat mostly unprocessed fruits and vegetables and they look at me like either, (1) it does not compute, or (2) I'm a freak. When people bring in donuts to work, or head out to a fast food joint, I feel really lucky that I don't have to do that. People are so habituated. It's incredibly sad. I feel really lucky to have figu

I guess you could just switch it out with a daylight bulb and you would be good to go! You could have a mini garden in there.

Sometimes I just eat really simple meals like good tomatoes, yeah. Those are the best! Easy to make, easy on the body, easy clean up. I love this food.

Jodi, I hate to be the one to tell you this... but the lightbulb in your oven and the lightbulb in your fridge only go on when you open the door. hee hee (PS: That's because there's a little man inside whose job is to turn the light on and off.)

I have a friend who had one of those horrible stomach surgeries and had a similar issue. He lost over a hundred pounds over the course of a year. He spoke to a plastic surgeon about it who said that it depends on how old you are (younger = better chance of eventual tightening up of skin naturally), also, genetics matter, and he also said that he would not consider doing surgery on anyone who hadn

This sort of thing is put forth by the chemical-industrial conglomerates (you know, the same people who bring us pesticides, herbicides, radiated food... all the crap that gives us cancer... so they can then sell us chemotherapy to treat the cancer they gave us). Most people are too ignorant and/or lazy to realize it's much simpler. Eat more fresh fruits and vegetables. Exercise. Meditate. Avo

I'd just be careful of buying something you haven't personally tried. I used a Cuisinart that was loaned to me by a friend and it is highly rated. (My friend bought it based on the research she did online.) And what a piece of crap! I am not saying all blenders that are not the Blendtec or Vitamix are crap. But, the highly rated Cuisinart sure is. It would smell like something was burning after r

Jodi and WY and anyone else... I always thought I needed light to make the sprouts turn green. Or is that just the last day or two? Or not at all? I used to use the top of the fridge, so I've never used just an enclosed (dark) space like the oven. But if that would work, it would be great for me because I have such a small kitchen. Right now my oven is used for storing cutting boards, bowls, s

Yes, it's the HP3-A. I think the manual buttons are a good addition; I probably would have hesitated to buy this without that. Also, I know, I know, this seems petty to some people... But I have a super small kitchen and that this fits under the counter (don't have to move it for use) is a plus. I used to sprout and want to get back into that so I'm dealing with serious space issues. I know th

Actually, the Blendtec I ordered arrived at my place of work Wednesday... but I've been so tired and busy I haven't had time to even open the box. I just made a spinach and apple smoothie. My choice of smoothie type was made by what was in my refrigerator. Here's my first impressions: I was surprised (and concerned) by how lightweight the entire unit/assembly seemed when I first unpacked

> 1. is it true? > 2. is it kind? > 3. is it necessary? Sounds like he was quoting the Buddha on Right Speech. I can't recall if it was Ajahn Chah who said, “If you can’t control your mouth, there’s no way you can hope to control your mind.” ------------------- from Right Speech: Since speech is the most powerful means of communication, the Buddha emphasises

You can't go wrong with good food! I've given some "produce" gifts over the past year and a half... Even my non-raw, meat eating friends enjoy some fresh fruit now and then.

I like David's idea "as hot as the sun would make it..." Very low tech and it makes sense. I don't own a thermometer but I guess if you are using a dehydrator or (gasp!) using your oven, you might want to stick with 105 to be safe.

How much to you want to spend? Some ideas... - Books (good for specific recipes or just inspirtaion) Bamboo cutting boards (good to have more than one cutting board... use one for fruits and non-aromatic veggies and another for onions and garlic) - Benriner slicer - Mandolin - Julienne peeler (very inexpensive) - Monthly subscription to fresh fruits from Diamond Organics or some othe

What makes it raw? Is it made out of fruits and vegetables or does it run on fruits and vegetables? I'm a fan of your raw/vegan work, but I think calling this "raw" is a bit much. Why not just call them electric, rechargeable scooters?

WY, thank you in particular for your guidance. I appreciate your experience in these things. A year from now I'll be asking for help with the next tool -- a juicer. I know what the quandry then will be: a juicer for things like carrots, celery, etc., or a juicer for wheatgrass. I feel like I could get seriously into wheatgrass if I was growing my own. I'm not yet doing that though. Stay tuned!
