This has been my experience too. Mixing fruit and nuts, or having fats during day leaves me feeling lethargic. When I eat fruit (mono) during day, I feel full of energy. I tend to leave the denser food till the evening. Gosia

* There is no such thing as an expert. Does Dr Vetrano know it all? No. Do you? No. * Statistical evidence cannot be considered the proof of some claim. For example, if 80% humans believe that the Earth is flat, it does not mean that this is true. If 99% humans believe that cooked food is healthy, it does not mean it is. The truth is not the result of a democratic voting. * I have never se

My view is that eating fresh, unprocessed foods is NATURAL. My view is also that eating cooked foods and taking highly processed stuff such as pills etc is extreme. So to be safe, I choose fresh fruit and vegies and avoid taking anything that I would not classify as human food. Fruit smoothies are great too (you can have them any time of the day). Example - bananas, some other fruit of you choice, water (some like using a few dates as well). Very filling (my 6-foot husband confirms), easy to make, and delicious! (There was time when my family lived off smoothies, when we discovered them for the first time. We used to have them 3 times a day.) Gosia

My experience has been that fruit is the natural human food. Fruit is the staple in my family's diet, and this is the result of a totaly spontaneous transition. My children (who are finally all raw, hooray!) instinctively choose fruit and I have no hesitation about their choice. My family is doing great on a fruit-based raw diet, but of course, beyond our experience, I met numerous raw foodists w

An intersting (and very long ) article that I once read (unfortunately available only in cache): "VITAMIN B12: ACHILLES' HEEL OF VEGANISM? Since our nutrients that we use normally come in complete packages, and our bodies require them in that form, it is the case that nutritional deficiencies never occur alone. B12 is part of the B-vitamin complex, and is found wherever those vitamins

"Rawgosia does not understand that the early raw foodists were not 1 year old when they started" Incorecct assumption, djatchi. "The diet should have helped one or two to reverse the earlier years and reach 100." How do you know? Did you calcuate the probability of that happening? Consider that they all went raw after many years of eating cooked, many of them made va

But you asked "Can vegan remain healthy in the long run on a diet of 100 percent raw without supplement". And the answer to this is of course YES (if it was not possible, no vegan would, and they clearly are examples of those who do). Why not look at those who do (maybe you could find the "missing" ingredient there?) 40 years of the raw diet is hardly enough to see plenty o

Djatchi, I did not try to prove that claim. I disproved it! The above disproved claim is notoriously used by many who insist that B12 supplementation is necessary, so being aware of it being false is very useful. As far as the claim "A vegan can remain healthy in the long run on a diet of 100 percent raw without supplement", it is of course TRUE. If the claim was false, than no vegan

Djatchi, the proof that I presented proves that the claim that: "B12 deficiency is inevitable on a 100% raw vegan diet after at most 20-30 years (as this is the maximum time our body can store B12; and raw vegan diet, presumably, does not supply B12)" is false. I explained to you in detail why this proof is valid. I can only repeat that ONE counter-example is sufficient to disprov

No, djatchi, your reasoning is incorrect again. The proof by counter-example that I presented relies on the basic rules of LOGIC (statistics has no relevance here). Specifically, ONE SINGLE counter-example is sufficient to disprove a false claim (or a whole false theory), and this type of proof is a standard scientific tool. This single counter-example does not need to be statistically signifi

Incorrect. If one knows logic, then one knows that ONE SINGLE counter-example is enough to disprove a false claim (or even a whole false theory). This type of proof is commonly used in mathematics and other sciences, and follows from basic laws in logic. As far as suggesting that Storm is lying, this is a far-fetched claim. Note that Storm said explicitly that he could easily earn lots of mone

Let assume that B12 deficiency is inevitable on a 100% raw vegan diet after at most 20-30 years (as this is the maximum time our body can store B12; and raw vegan diet, presumably, does not supply B12). Since Storm has been 100% raw vegan for about 35 years (he went raw at 22, and is 57 now, according to his website), he should have observed the signs of B12 deficiency long time ago. Since he

My suggestion would be that you listen to your own body, and follow your instinct. It may be quite alright for you to have an avocado a day (my husband eats about that much per day), or you may decide that you fell better with less (as many may do). Your eating patterns are subject to change, of course, and your diet is subject to gradual imrpovements (as long as you are open to them). For exa

To those interested in hearing my opinion: I do not recommend excluding fruit from their diet. As an extreme example, I am currently coaching a young woman who did exactly that (because she believed that she should not eat fruit due to candida). This led to her body starving, and numerous health problems, including excessive weight loss (from 65kg to 40kg), hair growth (in unwanted places), and a

I met countless raw foodists who cured themselves from candida overgrowth while eating plenty of fruit. This includes me, my son, and my many raw friends. As it was explained in some other posts, candida overgrowth is not caused by eating fruit. It is caused by other, unhealthy eating patterns (cooked food, too much fat), which lower the body ability to digest sugars (which by the way are essenti

No, singiraw, it is you saing that it is best to keep on suffering, I have not said that all. I am saying quite the opposite. That is, rather than perpetuating old unhealthy practices that do not allow the body to heal, one needs to change these practices, and the body will heal. I do not underestimate the power of the body to heal. I do not believe that your argument (just in case, argument=&quo

I eat fruit in the morning, in the afternoon, and a salad or young coconuts in the evening. No, no fealings of spaciness at all, on the contrary. In my first year of raw I ate more fats and then gradually, due to constant improvements to my diet (such as for example by noticing that eating fats for lunch makes me feel not as energetic as eating fruit), I spontaneously progressed to a fruit-bas

I used to use sweating technique whenever I got a cold in the past. I would lie in bed, cover myself with sheets and quilt or extra blanket, and sweat, flipping the covers or changing them, if necessary. Usually, within a day, I would get better. I do not use this technique anymore, because I do not get colds anymore! Gosia
