all the ice cream companies probably hoard the stuff. the secret "navy." irish moss isn't farmed. (not that i know of) that's too bad because i wish i had a ton of it cheap. i tried a recipe by linda wooliever - her chocolate dream pie. Awesome!! ( a class attendance) and healthy omg i'm drooling. except i bought a bag of it off of ebay once (some irish moss) then lost it, so i didn't e

Don't mean to butt in here, but I think the major problem is the title of the site. It doesn't have the word vegan in it. I suppose it makes it more interesting, and keeps things open for raw/living foods enthusiasts who aren't vegan. You guys all seem to know each other, but I'd just like to say that I finally watched the agave warning video. It's true, it's a fairly new item on the market.

Oh wow, sorry about your back. it sounds serious. I don't know if it's the same, but I took glucosamine sulfate once for my knees and it really did seem to help them alot. (i was pregnant and your joints loosen, then i worked through my pregnancy standing all day long and weakened the cartilage.) I only took it for a bottle's worth, but i swear the cartilage really strengthened and solidified and

Hi imawsomeh, I don't know.. sounds like the culprit might just be the extra fruit smoothies combined with the avocadoes and the new back injury. Avocadoes are super high in fat! I only allow myself like a third of an avocado a day, and even then I would worry except they fill me up so good I hardly eat anything else that day. Fruit smoothies are tricky too. Imagine eating the quantity of frui

This is the directions i got from a CSA once to extend the life of leafy greens. first, don't wash it (unless your going to use it of course) right away. wait until it starts to get a little wilted, then give it a bath in some tepid water, shake it out, then put it back in a plastic bag or container on top of or loosely wrapped with a paper towel. the tepid water bath really perks them back up. i actually first got introduced to probiotics by taking Avon's Flat Stomach. I've been trying to find out the dosage on that bottle because the anti candida effect is practically instantaneous. Maybe one day to like totally deflate. Amazing. Sadly, I gave the bottle away to my brother and can't find any info on it and it's sold out everywhere. (I suppose I should at least call him and ask if he s

hi mislu, you sound sad about moving into a place all by yourself. have you thought about trying to find a roomate? maybe then you could move to a nicer area. if everything's already set in stone, would finding a roomate still be impossible? i don't like the thought of living alone either, but then, if you're going to college, you'll probably be so busy with schoolwork you won't have ti

my favorite easy care plants are Snake Plants. easy watering, low light and high on the air detoxifier list. they are usu dark+med green striated tall swordlike leaves. oh, i think patchmomma's got the other names for them too.(sanseveria, mother-in-law's tongue) their great because if you forget to water them one or two leaves will sshrivel and die to alert you then you can just pluck those ones

salt is bad for your garden. at least this is what i learned in horticulture class. small fact, but i think this because my soil engineering teacher taught us that the reason human feces is unsuitable for manure is because of the generally high salt content. i'd do some extra watering and hope it doesn't damage the health of your plants.

you're not stressed out, are you? i know cortisol levels have a lot to do with hunger hormnones. basically, in case you don't know, when you're stressed the body goes into massive carb storage mode. your body will also start converting lesser used muscle protein into fat. you can tell when your cortisol levels are high because hard fat tends to build up on the upper abdomen and you get extra hung

i know their not raw, but if it were me i'd probably at least buy a couple boxes of cheerios. oats are touted as cholesterol scavengers. i haven't experimented with any oat groats, and plain oats would probably be okay just rehydrated with whatever, cheerios just seem so much easier to digest. i guess there's granola too. i had a protein smoothie at a place called dean's. it was so good, ther

Hi notvegan. I actually thought of that for eating jalapenos. I can skip the beans, but, yeah, I'd probably be willing to try over the counter even for jalapenos? ooh, raw jalapeno poppers sound really good! maybe like a hush puppy with jalapeno bits. thanks for the idea!

it's the end of the world! not funny, but hey, i've noticed less bees this year too. how sad, the summer is almost over and i haven't seen a single big furry bumblebee. i thought it was from too many pesticides, but it looks like the bees are taking another hit. "We can help to change that by growing our own food small scale, supporting local organic farmers, promoting backyard bee kee

oh, you're very welcome. I also read that kelp is good for metal toxicity, so if you're already taking it... Sometimes I'll do a kelp bath too. It makes the water electric and makes me feel like i'm at a spa. I <3 kelp.

I don't know for sure, but really, I learned when I went vegetarian a long time ago that you should phase out over years rather than months. I just had a stay in the hospital where my food intake was completely different than regular and my blood pressure went wildly out of whack. (Thank God it's going back down.) Like with dogs and stuff, you're not supposed to just change their food all of sudd

I personally am just not that ambitious. It can be so hard as all my friends and family are die hard white flour loving white sugar buying meateaters. I get made fun of for being vegetarian. I tried going out with a vegan guy once but it was a disaster! I f-ing like cheese, and yes it can be raw too! I am ambitious but at the moment, am just aiming at assimilating to 75% I just recently go

omg, i just really read this whole thread. I'm so sorry you have been going through such a tough time. have you heard about Edgar Cayce's castor oil packs or I guess Edgar Cayce in general? I personally am a huge fan of his work. I've recently had a major health dive recently too, which I am slowly but surely coming out of, and I think a huge part of it is from the fact that I started doing his c

i was just flipping through david wolfe's sunfood success.. book and he has a little section on candida. besides the regular, something he recommended was actually sunbathing. something like, fungus requires dark and damp, so some sun infusion may help to kill it off. sounds good to me.

hmmmm.. *.* where'd i get corn? - though those south of the border chips are the crispiest i've had. (vote for best recipe.. ) thinking about them, i figured i'd try something similar with a bag of peas (12 oz pictsweet) Wal-Mart saves. (they were actually a gift) how's these sound? i'm drying them now, the mash is so good, i hope the crackers are as good. 12 oz bag pictsweet peas (th

It's a Chinese food cooking trick. That's what you have to do to the cabbage before making egg rolls or else there's too much water. Major amounts of liquids are released as well as almost all or any bitter flavors. I've tried it on kale too to get rid of some of the bitterness and it works great. (Though that was for a cooked version.) The napa cabbage gets softer and way juicy compared to it

thanks Tamukha. is suppose suncloud i'm not a thorough reader. i do tend to speed read and oftentimes just get half of the information. i also read some nutritional yeasts are fortified, but that light exposure kills the b12, so it's not reliable. i'm not sure if nutritional yeast is raw or not, but i do like to use it as an ingredient i guess pill form supplements are pretty cheap, i
