Horsea, I assume that he was as healthy as someone with a developmental disorder of the heart, say, could be, and for as as long as was possible for his particular organism.

I don't get a cheeky tone from this at all; IMO, it's sincere effort to explain the variety of people in this lifestyle that FP believes to be most common. I found his observations very interesting, and his general laissez faire approach refreshing. Thanks for posting, HH!

Please be careful to use reputable sources; at present there is no evidence that Homo sapiens was ever vegan, and even precursor hominids are surmised not to have been, based on dentition and other things. The actual scientific research on this is in its early stages.

If I can find them at local health food stores, I buy organic hemp seeds, but the quality varies. I love organic raw hemp seed butter; it makes a fabulous cheese-free raw pesto for zucchini noodles. It is, however, prohibitively expensive, as is the oil Making your own would require really, really fresh hemp seeds, but hemp is very high in Omega 3s, so it's worth considering.

madinah, Remember that the more mature a pumpkin, the more starchy and less fruity it will be, and also more grainy. So avoid huge jack-o-lantern pumpkins, if you can and favor smaller, darker orange ones. Long ago, I made a "pudding" with blended raw pumpkin, a small amount of soaked chia seeds, raw agave, a spritz of lemon juice and a pinch each warm spices--cinnamon, nutmeg, a

I've missed you, kwan!!! This was very intriguing to read, and it makes me glad that you have been away because you have been working on ascending to a new order of "you." I wish you all success in your endeavor.

Don't use it; it's pretty dead tasting to me. Minimally processed frozen fruit is preferable, but it does depend on where one is located. You're in the U.K., I think? Is frozen fresh fruit available like in the States?

Hello, Johlysid, and welcome! Agree with everyone else about the warming of foods gently. Please keep in mind that not all things are meant to be eaten raw, like grains. Sprout them if you wish, but don't just soak rice or wheatberries and assume your body will digest them--you are not a bird! Good luck with your explorations

I am so disappointed to learn Mr. Tizie is not, in fact, my ship that's come in! Sadly, the first part of the e-mail, discussing the vicissitudes of life in Ivory Coast, sounds all too plausible

I know for a fact that this is possible: When I had a terrible digestive crisis at the beginning of the year, activated charcoal slurries corrected my bloating and forced a lot of nasty stuff to come out; coupled with water/ginger tea fasting, of course Thanks for posting, Prism

I used to not really like the taste and texture of coconut oil. But in the last few months, I have found it surprisingly tolerable. I assume my body needs something from it(I am not eating many nuts right now due to an aversion)so am giving a program of eating a small amount of coconut oil several times a week a try. Excited to see what happens!

Danndy, QuoteI mean my question was, if anyone ever quit the raw food regimen for a week lets say and gained abnormally lots of weight (8kg/17lbs) in my case... No, but what you describe as clear edema in your lower extremities, and which may be contributing to the "weight" gain, is worrying. Glad you are going to the doctor soon! P.S. That's just the way rzman communicates; d

wanderwolf, Welcome! Sorry about the circumstances that brought you here, but glad that you have had a "stay" that allows you to take stock of where you have been and where you may go from here. Agree that oncogenesis is complicated, and certainly affected by diet and stress, so those are two aspects of living which must be addressed to set the clock back to zero. The aforemention

Michele, For me, Celtic or Mediterranean sea salt, only. I used table salt to make something sweet for a guest a few months ago, and when I took a bite of it, it was unbearably salty. I looked at my guest in alarm and said, "Isn't that too salty? I am so sorry!" and she replied, with a curious expression, "No it's fine, it's just right." I hadn't used table salt in year

banana who, Yes, it did make me wonder what alternate ways there are to commercially blanch almonds, but couldn't confirm anything with the store. Dealing direct with a grower does have advantages, but up here in the Great Lakes region, we gotta do what we gotta do. Your purchase sounds like a good deal

I have successfully sprouted blanched almonds from the bulk store; they produced small tails, and tasted sweet, almost like fresh water chestnuts. So perhaps almonds are more durable than we've been led to believe.
