Yes I would like to see food politics here in the main section, as well, as it's a matter of primary importance and I think I can safely assume that like me, nobody reads any of the other sections.

I wanted to post this because even though it's not actually food-related, I know that many of us, when we go raw, find ourselves seeking more spirituality. In the years since I went raw I always found myself unable to wholly identify with either Buddhism, Christianity, or Judaism - none of them quite "fit" the particular spirituality I felt as a raw foodist, so I toggled between the thr

Ohhh yeah, you're right about the crackers, I do usually keep some raw crackers around but I ran out. I probably don't even realize how much I munch on them throughout the day. Thank you!

That's awesome! That's a good idea, I should get one of those tests, too. Except I don't have any naysayers to my diet, as my personality changed so dramatically from going raw. My family buys me raw cookbooks, I think they don't want me falling off the wagon haha. Before I used to be really irritable and prone to temper-tantrums.

I bought a whole body yeast cleanse from Whole Foods, which said that it would end excessive carbohydrate cravings... the unexpected result was that I stopped craving sweet fruit, as well. I've been eating bell peppers, cucumbers, and zucchini like crazy the past few days. For more calories though I think of "plain flavored" things but can't put my finger on what it is I want. For lack

Yeah I'd say a few months too. I started raw in March & when I put on a bikini in June I was pleasantly surprised.

Oh yeah! But I don't think you even have to be fruitarian, for me just raw did the job. And I'm not even a skinny girl, most of my weight is in my upper thighs but on raw I have no cellulite whatsoever. Frankly, the only time I ever truly had alot of cellulite was when I tried Atkins. blech.

Neat! I always assumed Type 1 diabetes would not be curable by diet alone. Type 1 is the kind people are born with, where the body simply doesn't produce insulin (or so I THINK- I'm doing this from memory...) Could it really be possible that this might be curable, after all? Thanks for sharing!

Well, I switched to a raw vegan diet very quickly from a meat-focused diet, and I have to say, that E3 Live is the one thing that was able to take away my meat cravings back in the beginning. I think because E3 Live is very high in minerals, and I've heard that a craving for meat is really a craving for minerals. For me, it was invaluable. I don't need it anymore, but it was very to nice to have

I think the problem is not TOO MUCH FRUIT, per se, but rather NOT ENOUGH MINERALS. I don't think one can attempt a fruitarian diet until one is properly mineralized.

I know you don't want to but would you pleeaaase tell us your age?? I need the inspiration. I always thought you were in your 20's but on one of your blogs it says "People have NO IDEA how old I am, they would just die." Your skin is fantastic for any age but if you're anywhere past your 20s then it's simply incredulous. I know the raw diet slows down aging but HOW MUCH?? Thanks!

When I was growing up my mom always had a garden, and all the garden vegetables that I grew up with are still my favorite foods today. Probably why it was so easy for me to go raw. (peppers, cucumbers, zucchini, tomatoes)

Just wondering. It's winter and I've not been so raw lately so I wonder if a more completely raw diet would help. My lower back is KILLING me. I know back pain is so common and I'm sure it happens to people even on a raw food diet. Has anyone come up with a dietary solution? I'll be headed to a doctor/therapist for evaluation but thought I'd just ask here as well. I've been raw for 3 years and am

This is kinda gross coming from a girl, but on my meat-heavy cooked diet I used to have sweaty feet so my shoes would always end up stinking. I once returned a pair of boots to Kenneth Cole because I couldn't stand the pungent leather smell and swore off boots for years. This winter I bought 2 pairs and hey no smell! So all along it had been my feet and not the boots. And yeah I've definitely

Yes! A few months ago I was reading that waking at dawn can be very beneficial to overall energy & mood... I've always been a late sleeper but one day I forced myself to get up and go running... after that I got in the habit and felt terrific (I've always exercised but usually in the evening). I LOVE morning cardio now - even having to do it in the gym doesnt bother me, because there's no one

Conventional wisdom of a raw food diet says that enzymes are the key to energy - eat food with that has its enzymes intact, and you will experience vibrant health. Is it really just about the enzymes, though? I believe there's more to the story. If it were just about enzymes, then any SAD eater could overnight start eating just cucumbers and apples and feel fantastic forever and ever. However, we

Well, scientists have already proven that a calorie-restricted diet is so far the only known way to extend life-span... I would argue that the raw food diet is, indeed, a calorie restricted diet (while thankfully, not feeling like one). Although without measuring the actual caloric intakes of numerous raw foodists over time, this may be a little difficult to prove in and of itself. However, maybe

cocoa_nibs Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Eating too much fat makes me feel terrible. > > When I am PMSsy I crave it liek crazy (sesame > seeds, coconut, cocoa nibs). Why is that? Because in the days before our periods, magnesium levels drop... the foods listed above are high-magnesium foods. Spinach is also high in magnesium. If you wanted

This is a really complicated topic so I'm going to make it really brief - for anyone who's on a raw diet yet still struggling with energy and mood issues, I encourage you to start researching minerals. Over the past year I've gained alot of expertise on being able to noticeably and immediately improve (or accidently ruin) my mood or energy levels through eating mineral foods and/or drinking miner

Maybe, maybe not. There is no proof yet anywhere on what is the optimal human diet. My feeling is that at least 75 percent of the diet should come from raw fruits & vegetables. But I keep an open mind regarding the other 25 percent, because I think it's important to QUESTION and seek truth.

Here's the article which corresponds to the link above. It's from LiveScience.com: Contrary to the moans of many dieters, being hungry may make you happy. Or, at least, it can be a serious motivator whose evolutionary intent was to help you find dinner instead of becoming dinner. When our bodies notice we need more calories, levels of a hormone called ghrelin increase. Ghrelin is know

I get more of those tiny dark brown spots whenever I go in the sun, I read somewhere that they're caused by sugar. Does apple cider vinegar work for these, as well?

Yeah I was a rabid carnivore before raw, especially since I lifted weights. For me it was E3Live and dark green leafy things and seaweeds that took away my meat cravings. I think it was really just a hunger for minerals. However I do occasionally get a craving for shrimp, and a couple times a year even chicken (but never beef or pork).

I lift weights in the gym and used to do the bodybuilding diet and I can tell you it's a helluva lot easier on raw. Sometimes I do eat some shrimp if I crave it but in no way am I getting even close to the "recommended" 100-150 grams of protein that I used to. Actually, I'm often turned off by food after a heavy weight workout. I've come to the conclusion that rather than protein being

Well if the average person needs 1200 calories a day then that's just what it is, an AVERAGE - meaning some people will need more calories and others will need less. Nothing abnormal about that.
