I wonder if I saw a commercial blender, the $1000+ kind, at a second hand store or garage sale I would be able to tell that it was such?

I use a Ktec HP3 Champ blender (made by Blendtec company before they were called Blendtec I think). I've had it for eight years now and LOVE it. I really like the computerized thing where the speeds are preset and pretimed. You can also set them for your own desires but I have always been happy with the settings as they came from the factory. Drawbacks: I have had to have the container replace

Raw pumpkin seeds are great -- and high in zinc too!

Oh. I maybe should add my "technique" here, as my recipe makes basically two blenders ful of drink: First I put 3 cups of pure water in the blender, add the bananas and avocado and blend at the lowest speed. Then I pour half of that mixture in a large cup and set it aside. I leave the other half of the first mixture in the blend and then add the pumpkin and sunflower seeds, th

I use to have the EasyGreen sprouter and nearly went ballistic when I discovered that MOLD grows in the tubes that bring the water from the faucet, etc. I gave mine away.

I don't mean to make you crazy, but my personal feeling is that the Vita-Mix or Ktec blender is the #1 appliance for the kitchen even when healing is needed unless you are SEVERELY compromised and cannot even digest smoothies. The reason I say this is because you can get very gentle and very healing and very nutritious fiber from the blended smoothies (especially green smoothies) when you use

Haha, La_Veronique, you win the cacao cigar! Yes, I do love to put avocados in my green smoothies~ I prefer to put a whole avocado in, but when budgeting I put one-half avocado. My basic green smoothie recipe is the following and only which fruits (other than the bananas which most always stay) change: 3+ cups of pure water (which takes care of any problem of being too thick) 3 bananas

Nuts are harder to digest, even when they have been sprouted. I usually add a couple tablespoons of raw pumpkin seeds and a tablespoon of sunflower seeds to my green smoothies and it works out great. (Seeds being much easier to digest than nuts.) And of course you can sprout the seeds for a few hours before using to make them more digestable as well.

I think it is very good for dehydrating food that would otherwise spoil (or food that is in a rare bent of being sold really cheaply, say, organic tomatoes for 99 cents a pound or better yet a bushel given as a gift from a friend, etc.) and being able to slice and dehydrate for eating as snacks (such as dehydrated fruits) or using as gourmet ingredients in raw dishes (such as dried tomatoes).

I don't have a lot of fresh coconuts but if I did I would try pureeing the coconut meats and then letting it stand (maybe in a refrigerator) in a glass jar for a day or so and see if the oil rises to the top. That would be the oil; to make the butter I guess I would just mix in a little more, but not all, of the puree.

(It is not my recipe but was shared by Anabear and then I shared her sharing.) I agree with you the temperature is much too high, but I would be happy setting the dehydrator at about 111 degrees -- which would allow for it getting a bit hotter at the top. Actually it is 118 degrees at which enzymes begin to die (not 108).

I have practically lived off green smoothies for a couple of months and it was a VERY cleansing and healing time for me. Because I often like to have the green smoothies as almost my only food a lot of times, I usually add a couple tablespoons of raw pumpkin seeds and a tablespoon or two of sunflower seeds.

I should add that I put this on an index card and hand it to the waiter or waitress and ask him/her to give it to the chef or cook. I have had very good luck with this and it is especially nice when I take my own dressing. Almost every restaurant kitchen in America DOES have SOME raw food, so it works really well.

I think this will help me during moments of weakness to say to myself, "This may be cloned, this may be cloned!" I do have that "disconnect" when it comes to eating meat and dairy sometimes. I've been trying very hard to rid myself of it, but it is taking years and years. Luckily (or not), if I do eat things like beef I get such painful side effects that I have a great disinc

I actually bought purslane at the store a month or two ago -- was so exciting! (I live in Austin, Texas and I think it was as Wheatsville but might have been at Whole Foods or could even have been at the Boggy Creek farmer's market -- probably at the farmer's market now that I think of it). It was VERY expensive which is ironic since usually one could get it as a "weed." I was excited t

I love this thread too! I would also mention that it is SO easy to harvest wild dandelion all over the U.S. And dandelion was a lifesaver for me when I was in a state with almost NO organic produce and I badly needed organic greens. I wonder if the apartment owner/manager where I live would be agreeable to my planting herbs and foods in the tiny dirt islands in front of the street? (There

I think you are doing great, although you may have to deal with a serious outbreak of HEALTH in your family, lol. One suggestion: sometimes take the carrot juice and put it in a blender with the spinach or other greens and blend at the highest speed. This way you will get EVERY DROP of green (plus the fiber). I have found this to be a very healing combination.

I just experienced one of LaLane's blenders in a raw cooking class and I was AMAZED at how well it kept up with the Vita-Mix and KTech. I would definitely go for the LaLane blender if I needed to buy another blender just to save the cash.

Yes, nice site! I would like to argue with you about the "forget organics" part though. Eating organic is the only way this planet will ever be able to have SUSTAINABLE agriculture. Foods grown with the chemicals and pesticides leave behind sterile, dead dust and foods grown organically make for living and healthy soils. Now I know you were writing to those who have to eat on a budge
