I have to share that my BFF (okay, my really, really, really good friend) bought me a Breville Professional Elite Juice Fountain for Christmas. This thing is amazing. I already had the Champion juicer and it is good but this Breville sounds like a jet engine taking off. I, too, cannot believe how quiet it is. I am juicing whatever I can when I can. The book has some great recipes to start

It is not a stupid question and the difference between the two confuses many people who think they are the same - myself included at one time. Here is the basic premise: A blender is a blender and a juicer is a juicer. A blender takes whatever you put in there and basically tears it apart into very small pieces and mixes it together. Something blended contains all of the solid and liquid par

I don't have a large amount of experience with juicing but the little I have done here is what I have done with some of the pulp: 1) use carrots/peppers/cuke pulp to make raw "burgers" or loaf 2) use fruit pulp in a smoothie 3) freeze fruit pulp and eat as it is as a "sorbet" 4) use fruit pulp to sweeten homemade energy bars (like Lara bars, etc) 5) I also save the ca

How long do you soak the chia seeds? I just bought some and they are mostly black. Is this right?

Bryan10, Would you be willing to share the Mashed Taters recipe? I have a number of raw recipe books but not sure I have anything like that in them. I need to check again. Thank you. Patty

Cocoa_nibs, I am getting ready to leave on a business and trip and don't have time to re-type but look at my response yesterday (12/9) to the post titled: "pizza after raw? stomach on fire???" in this same forum. This will explain some of the heartburn stuff. I hope it helps. Good luck. Patty

The reason you are "on fire" after eating traditional cooked food after raw is this: eating raw foods requires less acid production by your stomach to digest. Your body is now producing less acid since it doesn't need it. You eat the cooked food and since your body is getting used to the lowered acid production, it produces the lesser amount as though it had raw food. That cooked food

I did a one day banana fast when I got some really, really ripe bananas cheap. I had the most energy ever that day and felt great. I think I consumed close to 16 bananas in that 24-hour period. Patty

I don't claim to be any kind of expert but something I learned recently is that many thyroid problems are caused by and/or exacerbated by 1) fluoride toxicity (in our toothpaste, dental products and water - the only way to rectify this is to special water filters in your house and remove all fluoride products) OR 2) food allergies (almost all of us have them and don't know it because sympto

Sunshine79 I am so glad you wrote what you did. While I have slimmed down considerably (I wasn't even heavy before) I noticed my bra cups filling up better than they had been. I thought it was my imagination. I mean how I could I lose weight in hips, thighs, and butt but gain in my breasts? Anyway, it must be related. I agree that going raw has given me a very nice shape without any extrao

Has anyone every tried using the "Magic Bullet" product to make smoothies? Any luck? I can't afford much for a new blender and this one is on sale with the holidays. Any input you can give would be appreciated. Patty

This issue may not be about fiber. Something that I have learned and struggled with on my own raw journey is that if you make the sudden transition to raw and find that your Gi tract has become sluggish it is because the transition is too quick and the body is too toxic to handle it. Constipation is a classic symptom of autointoxication. I, too, would have thought that with all the fiber I

I have a light specifically purchased for "mood." It is a blue lux light. I bought it a few years ago from www.sunalight.com. (At least I think this is the company. I know they carry the product I bought.) I called them and spoke with them on the phone a while - no pressure sales. I use it mostly in the mornings. I sit under it while I eat (or rather drink) my breakfast. I also use i

Cy and all, I mentioned in my earlier post that I was experiencing knee pain and not sure if it was due to rebounder or other stuff. Well, for the heck of it, I switched the shoes I was wearing on the rebounder. There appears to be a difference and less pain overall in my knee. I just thought I would mention this to one who might be having a problem to try. Patty

Help! I am trying to find a past post about the "hazards" of eating too much or only kale for greens. Could someone point me in the right direction? Or, could someone tell me what could happen if you ate too much or only kale for greens. Thank you in advance. Patty

I assume you are checking urine pH? 6.5 is not too bad but for me to get it more to 7 and above I use greens, greens and more greens! Oh, almonds also work for me. What we think of as acid or alkaline foods do not necessarily have that effect on the body once digested. For example, lemons - an obviously acidic fruit - are very alkalinizing. One day, I did a 24-hour mono food day (all bananas

I started adding mustard greens to my salads and I cannot believe how good they are. I mixed with spinach and with kale too plus my other vegies. I also made a spinach, avocado, cucumber, arugala, and mustard green smoothie. It could have probably have used some tomato but I had none. Patty

Can someone please explain to me the significance or importance of nasal breathing? Traditional Western culture promotes "in through the nose and out through the mouth." What are the benefits of nasal breathing??? Oh, I probably breathe both during the night too. I think if I stay on my side I am more inclined to sleep with mouth closed. Thank you to anyone who can answer my que

I have an Urban Rebounder that I bought for very little money ($35 + shipping) off (dare I admit) Ebay. I love using it. I have noticed my legs and butt getting very firm and I only do 15-20 min (max) each morning. I am following the basic routine from The pH Miracle for Weight Loss book. I have not yet even tried the DVDs that came with it. I have had knee sugery 5 times on my right knee.

A couple of weeks ago, the exact same thing happened to me. I honestly thought I was going to have to call 911. I personally think it can be related to dehydration. I also had been off my rebounder for a couple of weeks and then started up again. Potassium deficiency is related too. Actually, I think any mineral deficiency but I could be wrong. Anyway, a friend read somewhere that keeping

I have eaten sweet potato/yam raw just sliced like it is. I also seasoned it a little (I honestly don't remember what I seasoned with probably Braggs adn chili powder) and dehydrated it and ate like chips. Those were good but I did that a while ago and have no desire to repeat. Then, I read that one should not eat sweet potatoes raw. I cannot remember why. I don't know if this helps.

I tried a mono-eating day a couple of weeks ago. I did bananas for 24 hours. I could not believe how great I felt and how much energy I had. I assume it is because my GI tract got a rest and all that extra energy was mine to have. I started at 4:00 pm the evening before and ended the next day when I had a salad around 6:00 pm. I actually did not feel as well after the salad as I had on bana

Walkern, Sorry to hear about your problemse with acne. I just want to make another point about the allergies. Most of us tend to think of being allergic to apples or wheat or peanuts yet you could very well be allergic to a component of the food. I am only writing this because of the education I received while being treated for my allergies. Among other things I am allergic to vitamin C, v
