Mike Adams, aka the "Health Ranger" just launched his new site for all things health and environment-related. I posted a video of my 17-year-old raw dog, along with a plug for raw eating and feeding. It's already coming up on the first page of most popular videos. Check it out: Nora www.RawSchool.com www.RawTreasure.com

Hi All, A few years ago I became frustrated trying to find fresh nuts in the stores where I bought food. I began looking for small nut farms where I could buy fresh organic nuts directly. I wanted to buy close to harvest time and store them properly (refrigerate) so I would have fresh nuts throughout the year. The products I ended up finding were so much better than what I'd been getting

Veganlife, The body's ability to encircle and 'bounce' foreign invaders (the job of white cells) is finite. People who tax their white cell contingent by habitually eating unhealthy foods eventually lose the ability to produce white cells. Those people will have a low white count just as raw fooders do but as Bryan mentions this is a good thing in raw fooders. In healthy people, the white cel

Hi All, Just wanted to let you all know that I am now taking orders for almonds, which will be available soon after the harvest in September. They are certified organic, unpasteurized and unprocessed in any way except shelling. This year we will be getting non pareils, which come in earlier and are larger and flatter than the variety we had last year. If you'd like to order, please email

Firstly, it should be understood that "Natural Hygiene" means different things to different people. The name is not trademarked, nor is it attached to any particular organization or following, so it can be adopted by anyone who wants it. I've found that some of the people who follow its principles nearly to the letter never utter the words, while others talk about it all the time but do

Azura, I'm out this year but next year I hope to have a website from which it will be possible to order persimmons. I sold 1,100 pounds this year to raw fooders near and far. When my new site launches, I'll post here. Cheers, Nora www.RawSchool.com

"I plan on waiting for him to let me know when he's ready. " This is a very good plan, bb. And when your child refuses a food, it means he knows that he can't digest it. Trust his wisdom, it hasn't been trained out of him yet like it was with us adults. Mixing foods, disguising foods (green smoothies, etc.), coaxing or threatening a child to eat something s/he doesn't want is a vi

Nuts become more digestible when their water content is increased -- that's the benefit of soaking or eating nuts directly out of the shell. It has nothing to do with enzyme "inhibitors". Enzymes assist or catalyze all living processes, and they do this for the nut only. When we eat those enzymes, they do not assist digestion. We require different enzymes for that, which healthy bod

Bread is an extremely unhealthy food, and can UN-do a lot of the progress you’re making with your diet, even if you only indulge rarely. A woman on my discussion list recounted a very revealing experience with bread. She and her husband were raw and had raised their baby raw until the child was 18 months old when they decided to do some experimenting with bread-eating (they were using the

I gather uncertified organic persimmons in November and ship them to raw fooders all over the country for $2/lb. plus shipping ($9 for a 7-pound box). They are the Hachiya variety, picked late enough to ensure ripening but early enough to allow time for shipping. Personally, I eat 100-150 pounds of Hachiya persimmons over the winter and they last me until mid-January typically. If you want mor

I thought the following article, which I wrote last winter, might be of interest. Best wishes, Nora Is Organic Always Better? by Nora Lenz The answer to this question is often presumed to be "yes", and I know it's like sacrilege to say otherwise in the raw world, but I really think it’s dogmatic not to. All things being equal, organic really WOULD always be better. All th

Fresh, We understand what you were saying. The vast majority of formally science-educated people do not think objectively about a topic like diet, because to get to the truth it is necessary to think WAY outside the box, which is not encouraged in our educational system. It is absolutely not necessary to have a scientific background in order to design a diet that will bring a person to his/h

Hmm, I wonder who told the cats to eat the greens. How did they know they were edible? Maybe they did what all other animals on earth do -- they put them in their mouths and listened to their bodies' reaction. Why can't we do the same? If something is good, it tastes good. Our species would not have survived if our senses weren't trustworthy. It takes a lot of twisted, contrived logic to re

If you're asking me, Karen, I'd say my feelings are summed up in this quote from the article: "Like you and me, TC Fry had strengths and weaknesses". One of his strengths certainly was fearlessly criticizing ideas that counter nature, many of which are perpetuated among raw fooders, unfortunately. Peony, "Craving" is a euphemism we use to describe the bad feelings we e

Karen, As TC Fry used to say, "I have not been formally miseducated". Almost everything that is recommended by doctors which makes people sicker is backed by studies, citations, research, etc. This is obviously not a reliable way to determine truth. You won't find people with credentials telling the truth about colonics, except those who are threatened by *everything* that depar

anaken, I never suggested that it is not wise for some people to "ease into" fasting. I hardly ever recommend fasting for the new raw fooders I coach, but not because it wouldn't be the best thing for them physiologically. Whether fasting harms people physiologically is the question we're discussing here, at least in part. If my replies aren't answering your questions, please fe

It is true that bathing is unnatural. It would not be necessary at all if people didn't live in such a way that causes wastes to be exuded through their skin and mucus membranes. Tooth brushing is a bit more complicated, but it is true that it should also not be necessary under ideal conditions. It is said by colonics fans that our colons need cleansing too. The difference is a simple matter
