The people in Ecuador had the biggest smiles, they also look like vegetarians. I want to go live with them! Italy or Mexico would be my second choices. The people in Chad (bottom of the page) live on $1.23 a week! It looks like their diet is peas, rice, beans and things used to flavor them. Since they live on grains, I wonder if they have ever tried sprouting them (if they were sproutable like

A lot of the things that we put on our skin can cause cancer. You can check your personal care products in this database to see if they contain carcinogens.

I don't like AC until it gets dangerously hot. At that point, in a pre-modern era where everyone was a farmer and could set their own hours, everyone would be spending the day down at a creek or river keeping cool, an option we don't have these days. Has technology REALLY improved our lives, I mean everyone (well 80-90%) used to work for themselves, and everyone slept with their co-workers back t

Checked my e-mail and David Wolfe had sent me an 18 minute talk by Mercola about vitamin D. He talks about how Vitamin D used to be used to cure things but once they put windows in the sanatoriums it stoped working. He also talks like vitamin D is a cure-all.

Are you sure it was the sun alone causing his skin problems? Did you check all the shampoos and other products that he might be putting on his skin. People glob known cancer causing agents on their skin and then blame the sun. You can check the safety of his products here: This is interesting, you have to be outside to get UVB rays, you can't get them through glass in winter time. I'm not sur

Some are pre-treated so they can go through the dishwasher. "Some bamboo chopping board makers have some extra features you may want: •Dishwasher proofing – an adhesive that can withstand high temperatures allowing for the board to be placed in a dishwasher (for 2 – 3 years on average)" I don't have a cutting board I just use a dinner plate and then put it through the

About low-calorie diets, you'd probably be interested in what Gabriel Cousens says about it in his book Conscious Eating: - the ideal amount of calories is 1,500 (p 419) - a Journal recommended that 2.5% of our calories should come from protein (p 312) - we need less food to get the same amount of nutrition and 1,000 calories may be overeating on a raw diet when "ones basement membra

I knew about children's PJs having fire retardant and I've avoided that. The treated PJs always seems so rough and uncomfortable anyway, but I didn't know about the couches and the other things. Thanks for the info! Wiki has a list of fire retardant fabrics: Time to get a new couch! And I'm glad I've always covered my couches with blankets. "Foam products made before 2005 are more

I think that the best general tip is to cut a ripe pineapple into little chunks and freeze them on a plate so that you can break them off a little bit at a time. Then, every time you make a smoothie add a few chunks of pineapple.

I've read There is a Cure for Diabetes and I'm reading Conscious Eating and I recommend them both. He is a doctor so his books are among the most medical-style raw food books available but not out of reach of the average reader, "comprehensive" is a word that describes all his books well. You can preview his books in Google Books:

That's good to know about not having to buy organic, my next step is to go mostly organic and I've been thinking about what is important to buy organic and what is not. I do basically what coco does except I buy 4 every time I go shopping instead of 5 - I consider this vital to my raw food habits. Like her I also buy the greenest ones I can find to avoid bruising. I make a guacolmole every da

Thanks for signing, it's great to support people who are trying to make our lives better :-) I didn't see the show but I'm going to try to catch it next time. It's just amazing to me that this info is going mainstream, and to have the First Lady being the "Nancy Reagan of food" (great analogy) is jawdropping! Another Food Network star is also promoting a diet that has very limited

So I was watching Larry King Live last night and Jamie Oliver, the Food Network chef from the UK, was on along with American Idol's Ryan Seacrest and they were talking about their new show where they try to get people to eat better foods. They are focusing on school lunches that have less processed foods, and homecooked meals instead of processed foods. They showed clips from the show where t

As I understand it, fibromyalgia is linked to a B12 deficiency caused by high levels of mercury. The mercury probably comes from silver fillings, and it destroys the cobalt in the B12. A lack of B12 damages the myelin sheath that surrounds and protects nerves. So anything that detoxes mercury and heals the damage should help fibromialgia. The Sweeds have done a lot of research on B12 and fib

I don't think that yor mail will be irradiated and you can probably tell if it is. According to this US EPA link the only mail currently being irradiated is mail sent to certain zip codes, this was scaled back from earlier plans to irradiate all mail. You can tell if your mail is irradiated because of the effect it has on paper - it tans it and has other effects - and collectors of old stamps

Hi Rich! You don't like all cooked foods so I guarantee that you won't like all raw foods - just find what you like and eat it :-) I think that sprouted stuff is kind of "earthy" tasting, especially sunflower seeds and lentils, and I rarely sprout stuff. Right now I am soaking seasame seeds and brazil nuts overnight and I'm going to blend them with carob powder and dried fruit in

I never feel guilty about eating cooked because I only hurt myself when I do that, but I always feel guilty about eating something that is not vegan. I'm starting to feel guilty about eating non-organic because the pesticides affect the health of the farm workers and wildlife.

Going through your old posts it was just a few months ago that you were at work, this is a very rapid illness! Do you have any idea what caused it? In particular have you ever worked with chemicals or do you use insecticides in your home or do they use them at your work? The link to the book mentions that blue-green can transform into an exceptionally toxic plant so poisonous that toxicologist rate it VFDF (very fast death factor), it says that this toxic blue-green algae has only been found in New England lakes and that the Klamath algae has never changed to a toxic state.
