Hi sixxmum, you are right where I was when I first started. All the recipes seemed complicated and confusing, then I started hanging out on raw food boards and realized that most raw meals are too simple to qualify as a recipe and so they don't make it into recipe books. Raw fooders might eat only one or two "recipes" a day and the rest of the meals are very simple mono meals (and sprou

A bit more about cancer: Cancer and Oxygen Dr. Otto Warburg received the Nobel prize in 1931 for the discovery that unlike all other cells in the human body, cancer cells do not breathe oxygen. Cancer cells are anaerobic, which means that they derive their energy without needing oxygen. It turns out that cancer cells cannot survive in the presence of high levels of oxygen and this has given r

I know of three ways to deal with kidney stones: Lemonade Therapy (drinking lemon juice while eating normally) Apple Juice Cleanse (three day juice fast) Chanca Piedra (relaxes the muscles in the kidneys so the stones can get out)

Doesn't protein take hours before it can be absorbed. I know that it has to sit in the bottom part of the stomach for awhile to get the right digestive fluids for proteins. So carbs would be best. So why does a powerbar give one energy, is it actually coming from powerbar or does the powerbar trigger the release of stored energy? I know that when substances that the body percieve as being har

Notice how this mentions that acidic fruits and vegetable need to be elimiated from a colic diet, that's a lot of fruits and vegetables. I don't know why this site mentions that it's OK to eat pasta, wheat is something I would avoid. After a few weeks you can try to add things back in and when I added pasta back in I noticed a difference between enriched pasta and pasta with no added vitamins, th

Here are colic tablets that I've used: Wellements Gripe Water for Colic Will a raw diet help? I wouldn't waste the time tying to figure that out, colic only lasts for a few months anyway, and would go with a tried and tested colic diet. A raw diet might involve nuts/seeds (very bad for colic, since proteins are hard for babies to digest) and lot of fruits and vegetables will also cont

It's by Anthony J. Cichoke and it's not a "raw food" book but the most interesting part is the section call "The Conditions" where it lists enzymes that are useful for various ailments. I was surprised to find that it goes into how to make rejuvalac and touts it as being full of enzymes and vitamins, I wish it would have listed, in detail, the enzymes that are supposed to be i

Monkey chew wads of greens (and other things too) and then spit out the wads. The wads might then be chewed by other monkeys (yuk!). I would think of this as being like juicing - so would this mean that juicing is a natural thing to do (in small amounts, I'm not talking about everything you eat)? I was watching a YouTube video about green smoothies by Segei Boutenko and he said to "rotate

Lemons are obviously very acidic but their ASH, the stuff that is left over after they are metabolized and burned in the cell, is very alkaline, and this ash is what has an effect on the pH of the body. In fact, according to this chart they have a pH of 9.0 making them the MOST alkaline food. Watermelons also have a pH of 9.0 and watermelons are sweet, so you can't judge a food's pH by how they t

I've heard people saying that green smoothies are a big key to addiction control and I started doing a lot of green smoothies at Christmas time because I bought myself a Magic Bullet then. I didn't think that I noticed a dramatic difference but then, a few months later, I got lazy about making green smoothies and some old cravings returned, so I think that they might make a difference. I'm back o

I've heard that lemon juice can cause kidney stones, but lemon juice also disolves them (like Limeaway disolves buildup) and consistant use of lemon juice can really reduce them. So perhaps, while a stone is being disolved it breaks loose? Chanca Piedra relaxes the smooth muscles in the kidneys so the stones can pass, I've heard of taking it when you have a kidney stone that's hurting you to h

I've seen those before, thanks for the suggestion. Why would you not want to use them in the shower? I think dried skin comes off better after being soaked, just like food comes off of dishes better after being soaked, so my preference would be to do it after soaking for a while but is there somthing that makes dry skin brshing better?

There are tons of links saying that coconut oil burns like a carb. That most oils burn like large, moist logs and don't always get completely burned. What isn't burned is stored in fat cells and can become rancid. But that the MCTs in coconut oil burn like dry wood chips and are used up rapidly.

Flax seeds are sold in the bulk food section and they come in brown and gold, I prefer the gold. This page has pictures: This would be an example of a colon cleanser, it lists cascara sagrada as it's first ingredient, this herb gives your bowels a real workout and a high dose of it can be uncomfortable: "Cascara Sagrada increases the wavelike contractions of the bowel which cleanse

Well, you would want to eat something with a lot of fiber to move that cooked food out of the body, so flax seeds are my weapon of choice (not plain of course, I mix many things into flax seeds). Then I take a colon cleansing tablet that has herbs that contract the muscles of the digestive system and move all that junk through quickly and gets it out the first thing next morning. I find that

Victoria Boutenko covered her plateau in her book "Green for Life" "After several years of being raw foodists, however, each one of us began to feel like we had reached a plateau where our healing process stopped and even somewhat began to go backwards. After approximately seven years on a completely raw diet, once in a while, more and more often, we started feeling discontent

Hi Okun, congrats on going raw! That's incredible that you can't get avocados in the Caribbean. My eating schedule is fruit in the morning (several times) and greens blended with warm water, tomatos, celery and avocados for lunch (green smoothie),then I often eat something cooked for dinner. I would really miss the avocados. From what I know about diabetes, greens and flax are vital. I wouldn

You have to remember the flu epidemic of 1918-1919 which seemed to kill the 20-40 year olds: "Patterns of fatality The influenza strain was unusual in that this pandemic killed many young adults and otherwise healthy victims; typical influenzas kill mostly infants (aged 0–2 years), the elderly, and the immunocompromised. Another oddity was that this influenza outbreak was widespread

Could this be because of GM foods? Also it could be a detox reaction, perhaps there is a new preservative that detoxes like this. I've had people tell me that they can't eat fresh produce because of reactions that raw foodists would classify as detox, like diarreah and gas. The increase in incidence is rising at an astounding rate in just a few years! "Figures are hard to come by, but

If all I had access to was a grocery with conventional food options I would probably be buying these online: Carob powder - if you are trying to stop eating chocolate Brewers/nutritional yeast - is a cheese substitute if you are trying to stop eating cheese (only if you like the taste though). Coconut oil - use it when you make nut/dried fruit candies, it helps keep the dried fruit from

I'm so sorry to hear that you have aids. If I had aids I would look into olive leaf and other anti-virals. Olive leaf is a key herb used with aids, but from I've heard, it loses it's strength after a while, so you would want to buy from someone who specializes in olive leaf, like these people who sell just olive leaf, rather than buy it off the shelf in your healthfood store. Or maybe it'

My base for green smoothies is: avocado tomato celery parsley warm water (I don't like cold green smoothies) and I'll change the taste up by adding things like cilantro, garlic/onion powder, cayanne pepper or other things like flax seeds and ground nuts to make it heartier. I noticed you added seeds too!

What's the best thing to do when one is talking to someone who is sick and could benefit from raw food? Are they more receptive to new diets? When I've tried to covert the sick, they basically just ignore the new info.
