Funky Rob: I've bookmarked that site. I'll check it out, thanks. Ally, I'm a fan of serious subjects and I think you make good points. Almost every day I have to re-state, or re-envision my motivations for pursuing a raw lifestyle. I need real goals and realistic expectations as well as some assurance from within and without that this is not just another "weird" thing that I'm doi

Well, I wouldn't consider these people at this particular website charlatans at all. Quite the contrary. But yeah, "constant ecstatic euphoria" seems way beyond me at this point. I was just thinking that I may have come across in this post as being sarcastic. Actually, I'm extremely interested in just what is the "norm" for human beings in a healthy state of body and mind.

This is so funny Jeff because I can really relate! I'm going through much the same thing. The only difference is that my tolerance for cooked food has already gotten considerably lower and I do not feel "great" after eating it...unless I eat so little of it that it seems pointless to eat it at all. I've been noticing that many of us attracted to this diet and way of life have tend

On a raw lifestyle website I read this: "True health is a state of positive well-being that is evidenced by a constant state of ecstatic euphoria." Okay, tell me, you who have been raw for some time. Is the above statement an over-statement, or are there really raw foodies out there experiencing a "constant state of ecstatic euphoria"? Actually, I don't know if I coul

Methinks Bryan hit the nail on the head. Everything depends on what one has been eating prior to transitioning to a more living food diet and in what general condition the health of the body. I too am a bit confused on the fruit controversy. The majority of the books I've read give fruit a less prominent position in the diet than vegetables and sprouted (or cooked) grains (and some of these b

Amen and amen! Could be much more is going on beneath the surface than just what we are eating. An attraction to RAW may be motivated in part to break free from conventionality - to BE set apart. This may be a necessary stage in our growth as individuated human beings but there is danger here. Unrealized potential and frustrations within ourselves is all to easily projected outward upon the

Today, my first day back eating, is harder by far than any of the 9 days on the master cleanse were. I'm craving everything! and trying not to be frustrated with the craving. There must have been some expectation that the fast would take care of all of that, but it hasn't. It doesn't help that I am pre-menstrual and wanting nothing more than to curl up on the sofa, zone out with tv and try to

I chose to end my fast last evening which was the evening of the 9th day. It's difficult to describe the "knowing" which prompted me to end the fast. I was decidedly hungry, but it was more than that. At any rate I chose to end it and drank three glasses of diluted carrot juice over about a two hour period. This was followed by a copious elimination and I awoke this morning feeling well

Day 8 of my MC experience. I've had powerful thoughts of breaking the fast today...so powerful that I began to think that maybe my body wanted me to, but I have decided to continue. My greatest motivation at this point is the amount of elimination and cleansing that is just now kicking in. I also suspect that hunger and cravings go hand in hand with the stages in which the body is really start

Stanley Burroughs, who is the originator of the Master Cleanse, recommends Grade B Maple syrup because of its higher mineral content. It simply hasn't been processed as much...its also less expensive. But, he does state that you may use Grade A if that's all you can find. ~K

Day 7 of the MC and in many ways the toughest day so far. Luna, no, I am not Wiccan/Witch, though I have spent some time exploring both and have participated in Pagan community. I am more a Christian heretic...lol and a student of the Western Mystery tradition. You could call me a hermetic christian I suppose if I had to label it. I am also a tarotist and give local workshops teaching ot

Day 6 and I'm finally starting to see signs of cleansing. My tongue is coated and my bowels are starting to eliminate a lot of mucus and dark brown waste. I have body odor (never thought I'd experience a sense of satisfaction in that) and I'm feeling a bit more of a desire for food. The desire for food I interpret as those nasty mycotoxins making a last ditch effort to hold on to their lives.

Most fruits are considered alkaline, at least in the books I've referenced. But sugar is an acid food. In an overly acidic environment/body, the sugar in the fruit feeds microforms...it's basically the favorite food of yeast, infection, parasites, worms, mold and etc. Too much sugar in the body makes for too friendly a habitat for disease causing "bugs". If a person is balanced, then

I plan to continue the MC fast until the 10th day. But I will probably stay on a partial fast of veggie juices a day or two more...it all depends on how I feel when I get to that point. I felt a bit of real hunger this afternoon. First time in 2 days. I watched my boyfriend eat a fudgecicle in under 3 minutes. I thought, "so much hullabaloo and suffering over 3 minutes of pleasure".

You might try extending the night fast by waiting as long as possible before eating breakfast. Sip teas or fresh lemon in warm water. Then have something light like fresh juice or a smoothie. This may help to re-train your stomach so that it gets better accustomed to being a bit empty. Also, you'll have less hours in a day to eat, especially if you make it a rule of thumb to not eat anything past

Very interesting. Thanks for the info Piano Gal. Robert O. Young, author of the "PH Miracle" concurs. He advises avoiding fruit altogether until ones PH is balanced and THEN only to eat fruit occasionally as a treat. I admire the book and have studied it and will probably adopt his principles as I break the Master Cleanse (Day 5! woo hoo!!). This would entail a good seven weeks of 10

For the too much acid type you strive for a more alkaline diet. That would consist primarily of vegetables and not so much fruit until the symptoms stop. The tummy (or at least mine) likes raw soaked almonds and avacados. Carrot juice is great too. Proper combining is important but even more important is to not overeat and to never eat while stressed or upset. Nine times out of ten the garde

hey luna Very regular. I always had a healthy bm every morning and often another late afternoon. I have been eating pretty clean these last 3 months or so...but not that great before that and during 2005, so I doubt I'm that clean. Today is day 5 and I did the tea last night and had a better bm this morning (actually 2) and opted to drink another cup of the tea this morning instead of the s

Day 4 of the MC and feeling pretty good. I am not hungry and not tempted by the food that is eaten in my presence. I find that I have to make myself drink enough of the mc. Still having a problem with elimination through the bowel. Nothing but water is coming out of me, and not particularly dirty water either, I mean I wouldn't bathe in it or anything, it's just not very shitty. My conc

The Salt Water Flush was not fun. The taste was not the problem. Gulping down a quart of warm salt water first thing in the morning on an empty stomach was the problem. I had to struggle to keep it down. Three hours later and I'm still slightly ick. Another problem is that the results have been disappionting. Nothing much more than water coming through the rectum. As many times in my life

Be patient with yourself and with your family. One good way to phase out meat gradually is to prepare a lot of stir-frys with 80% to 90% of the dish being vegetable and 10% being meat (or poultry or seafood). You'l

Today I have not felt as energetic and my mood is more subdued. I've had a few mild headaches. I've been hungry today but haven't felt like eating really. The simplicity of this diet has its advantages. It's nice to not have to concern myself with what to eat for a while. Yesterday I was off from work but today it was back to it. Did fine. I didn't bring all the stuff with me to make the Master C

Have any of you tried the "Spring Master Cleanse"? Sorry, I can't remember where I first saw this recipe...a library book most likely and not one I own, but anyway... To a gallon of water add: 1 or 2 lemons sliced 1 cucumber, seeded and sliced julienne cayenne to taste It's tasty. The cucumber flavor really permeates the water and makes a delicious drink. You can replenish th

Yesterday I started the Master Cleanse. I didn't really plan this fast; I just got up and had my usual cup of "master cleanse" tea, sans maple syrup and just kept drinking it throughout the day. Yesterday afternoon I drove to a little local health food store to buy maple syrup and more organic lemons and Traditional Medicinals "Smooth Move" tea. Near the register was a new

I'm in the market for a rebounder. The Urban is considerably cheaper than the Needak...anyone have any idea why? Anyone here own an Urban Rebounder? Are you happy with it? If the Urban is just as good as the Needak, I can buy one a lot sooner, which would be awesome. ~K
