What I find VERY interesting is that just yesterday the results of a major study were released about the benefits of anti-depressants outweighing the risks in children: I find it very interesting that a positive study on anti-depressants was released a day or so after the Virginia tragedy, where the shooter was said to be on anti-depressants. Note that the Columbine shooters (at least

Are mobile phones wiping out our bees? Scientists claim radiation from handsets are to blame for mysterious 'colony collapse' of bees By Geoffrey Lean and Harriet Shawcross Published: 15 April 2007 It seems like the plot of a particularly far-fetched horror film. But some scientists suggest that our love of the mobile phone could cause massive food shortages, as the world's harvests f

Here's a "challenge" question for the 80/10/10'ers on this board. Can you answer it? If raw vegan fats are harmful, why do you think the mouthfeel of a whole fruit fat such as avocado is so appealing? It seems that truly clean taste buds would reject anything detrimental, and yet the avocado, in its natural, unadulterated, high-water state, is extremely appealing to most raw foodist

This is so hard to understand as Ross Horne's books were brilliant and he seemed to have such a thorough understanding of cancer. I did hear he was in a bad car accident a few years before his death. Thanks.

Since Bryan brought distrust into this thread, I now feel like I need to reassure those who responded. I have been raw for 10 years, and I am simply seeking an answer as to why SOME long-term raw foodists have dental issues. This is not meant to scare people away from raw, as 100% raw saved my life and is in fact the answer to many of the world's problems (believe it or not). So I just w

Thanks coconutcream for your answers. Thank you Prism and la_veronique for your support. Like I said before and la_veronique also mentioned, I would have been better off just asking a couple of informal questions rather than posting a "survey." But Jose posted a survey on the OT board so I was inspired to try one too. I guess that didn't work out too well. "We can't

The late Dr. Max Gerson was an expert in the healing of cancer with an organic, raw food-based diet. He was the author of "A Cancer Therapy -- Results of 50 Cases." You can read more about the Gerson Therapy here: IMO the body of a cancer-challenged person is TOO TOXIC for a fast and it may do more harm than good. Much wiser for the very sick person IMO to use an all raw, ligh

Dragon fruit is one of my favorite fruits. I don't have much experience with the white ones, but I do with the purple ones. I suspect they're fairly similar. The fruit becomes mildly sweet only at the very end of its growth, so if it's picked too early, it won't be sweet. I once bought a case of them and noticed that the sweetest ones were the ones with cracked skin. These had fully mature

The raw vegan conundrum, and the reason why I believe some raw vegans have difficulty over the long term, is as follows: Bonobos and chimps, our nearest primate relatives with virtually identical digestive systems, eat about 6 or 7 HOURS a day, and the reason they spend so much time eating is because they are spending time chewing green leaves. Green leaves are a mainstay of their diets and a

Simply cooked foods (lightly steamed vegetables, for example) have a higher water content than very dehydrated foods. This may make the steamed vegetables easier to digest than the very dehydrated food.

Kelsie, of all the foods in one's diet the fresh vegetables are probably the most important to eat organic if possible, since they cannot be "peeled" and are conventionally sprayed. Also, as a raw foodist the quantity of fresh vegetables in one's diet is higher than that of a conventional eater which probably makes it more important for a raw foodist than a conventional eater to eat or

One of the main benefits of living food is the living water it contains -- one of the reasons fresh juice is so valuable. Dehydrated food is the inverse of fresh juice.
