sugar is energy. greens and sprouts are nutritious, but they certainly do not give enough expendable energy for most people! i'm a watery fruit fan, like someone else, the cleaner the sugar, the more i love it. i love dates, otherwise known as the raw candy, and pears when they are falling off the stem. one of the things here is that everyone's body functions a little differently. some p

i've tried pomegranates with my Champion and after that the Omega. with seeds, i agree, most non-raw-juicer-folks would find it a bit unappealing. the Pepto-bismol color almost chased me away, and i was surprised at all the seed bits that gave so much fiber to my drink. i think i'll try the citrus juicer trick next time. that sounds like it could work. either that, or just getting some che

bone structure may be too set to change b/c of diet. but you can really adjust the flesh and muscles and skin hanging on it. that is really a huge thing. i'm dreadfully allergic to wheat/rye/oats/barley/spelt/kamut and the rest. what you describe sounds like me on a cooked SAD diet. i used to notice it in my hands and face most. start feeling your body and listening, maybe you'll find t

Kim- no good oranges until winter really starts. i don't know where they're getting these, but the season is off. we tend to juice now, but they've been horrible for us too, and eat in the winter! i'm not buying until they look delicious again! limes and lemons- also tend to juice. the acid can be bad for your teeth if you chew them. but juiced, they go on anything and mix with everythin

Raine- congrats! wow, that's hard, though i really like your method. savory and sweet. Mommy- i have done three-day juice fasts with a lot of goals in mind. the last three-day juice fast i did with a friend that wanted the slim-down and change in her diet jump-start. i'm with raine, it ended up being a spiritual and emotional purge and cleanse and a beautiful time for both of us. my

confuzed- you're going to find there are a lot of different opinions on raw even on this board. some are going to be more vegetable oriented, others more fruit, and others you'll have no idea what they're eating b/c they dis everything! there are conflicts w/ fat (David's 5 small avocados, while delicious and wonderful would be viewed as excessive) and a whole lot more! hm, tasting identical. might be tough. i can do cinnamon raisin. 1 cup pecans 1/2 cup raisins 1/2 cup dates cinnamon to taste (i like a lot, 2 tsp, but 1 is probably enough) i put the cinnamon, raisans and dates and 1/2 of the pecans through my juicer together until they form a thick paste, once in the champion, twice in the omega. chop the rest of the pecans (or coffee grind them)

took my husband 8 days to get past the detox signs, and he fasts often. the tongue is the worst. the face means your skin is jumping in on the detox. your breath is horrible mostly b/c of your tongue. do you have a tongue scraper? i always brush my tongue, but it makes some people gag. so today his tongue is pink and his body is finally not too funky smelling. the more you purify your di

sha- i just jumped on this link. i bought my omega a few years ago, and was very disappointed. not only was the machine hard to clean up and inconstant, but the directions in the manual actually caused me to burn a 'nozzle' (what the hell are those for?) onto the blank. i followed the directions and they wanted me to mail the pieces back to see if they qualified for a refund. i was pissed.

hey, start it and see how it goes! i miss chewing when i fast, but it is a cleaner and better way of living. now that you bring it up, i'm now thinking about it for myself. i'd miss my nuts. and seeds. but last time i went on juice only, i didn't really want them. thanks for the idea! blessings to all the juice people! hope to join you soon. when locked in boston children's hospital after my sons birth and being unable to leave because of breastfeeding (some nurses are horrible at supporting moms in this, if i was not available when they said, not when he said), i had to live off of six odwallas a day as i couldn't live off of the sad, sad withered fruit they had in the cafeteria. i made mad breastmilk, but must admit it was a hard

my husband gets them when he eats too many high-acid fruits. he recently only ate pineapple, orange juice and grapefruit juice for a day and though he has been really unstressed and resting, he got a sore. he's also sensitive to mangos. ooh, nik, my mom told me those little bumps were because i lied. i knew she was lying when i was a kid because i would have had them every day if it were

RIGHT ON. good to hear positive stuff on raw bodies that have meat on them. and i applaud your efforts both for yourself and others. i've seen the negative posts and have to laugh as well. even raw, if i worked out as much as some of people claim too, i'd be big. but living raw for me means less obsessing about meeting societal ideals, not trying to meet them while not living according to

Jen- my dog eats most of my pulp. carrots, cabbage, broccoli, bell peppers, apples, cucumber, pear, plums, you get the picture. i posted earlier that i read that onions and garlic aren't ideal for pets, though some have told me their pets love onions. i found citrus isn't well liked. i give my dog the benefit of the doubt. currently my dog (who was a beautiful puppy and even was praised b

Hey, since my little one is only 6 1/2 months, we don't have to do a lot with real food. but we are going to be raw. like you, not hell-bent on 100%, but as much as possible. right now he loves bananas and apple cores and he's been teething (he has four teeth, since two weeks ago, broke two at 4 1/2 months) on cold carrots, the really fat part. he loves oranges and lemons (go figure) but t

whole chickens, turkey, internal organs are wonderful. when i got my puppy, i could not get myself to buy dog food (we have a gluten-free house, why would i feed my animal foods that are toxic to me?) so i googled a whole lot of stuff. i ground up turkey and chicken bones and mixed it with carrots, apples, berries and other fruits or sometimes just the pulp from my juicer. she wasn't a big e

hm, guess figs aren't kosher then. but that seems VERY strange! i know they're mentioned in the torah as a delicious food. i've loved figs since i was a kid in greece and we had a tree in our backyard. though i don't eat them fresh that often since the price puts me off. but the buggie thing doesn't put me off. the caterpillars i've found in Medjool dates have scared me before. i give tho

start each day with fresh fruit. and fresh vegetable juice. make lunch a raw meal with fresh veggies and/or fruit. probably a fatty one to fill you as your body transitions (avocado) and a flavorful salad blend. try and stay raw for dinner, but don't be horrified if you really crave cooked food. try and eat as little as possible, steamed veggies, barely hot, for instance. cut out the me

reading this thread makes me so happy! apples are going to get really cheap soon. we have a lot of local orchards. and after apples and concord grapes and pears, we'll get citrus fruits! the world would be so much more beautiful if there were less grain fields, and oklahoma and texas wouldn't make me retch! and the rain-forest would be cultivated, not destroyed. ach. it would be love

spelt does have gluten. not as much as wheat, but enough to aggravate gluten allergies. i'm with bryan, flax is the best. though i suppose all seeds could work. though i wouldn't do sesame. i've read about the opiates qualities of grains too, and i think it is all, but wheat is the most prevalent in our society. sprouting any grain you wish will help, but grains are grains, if you're se

well- i think everyone gave the advice i would on getting your back in-line. i love how there are diverse yet educated opinions here and honest feedback. i had never had back pain in my life, and considering that both my parents and three of my four sisters (all the sisters are younger than me) have hand severe back problems, and three of those four have had at least one spinal surgery in th

i'm hoping eating raw will also help you just feel better and glow from the inside out. 5 3 and 105? that's a very nice ratio. i'm 5 5 and 125 or so, though i don't get on the scale very often. my face shape has changed dramatically, from very puffy/round to nicely oval. part of it is age though, when i hit 25, there was a distinct shift, but it might have corresponded with my turn to raw

hm- i've had the same problem before. spinach and lettuce and other greens sometimes just don't do well and i'll be burping up foul upset scents even the next day if i have it at night. i think some metabolisms just do better with different foods, and though i don't eat mono-fruit all the time, it is the best thing for me. i can do green juices though. maybe you should just juice your salads.

to be perfectly honest, though there are no hormones in copper, it seems putting a copper device into your uterus to fool it into thinking it's pregnant seems like it would still have some negative effects. i guess it's easier than learning and working with your own cycles, but i would be very careful. there are negative aspects, and if you do get pregnant while still having the iud, the danger

Humbug- you're definately on the right track. i was bi-polar for a while, though now i am symptom free. i went through the meds and the treatments (also adhd) and couldn't live like that. of course, most of the meds i was on are now black-boxed. the first major change to my diet that really helped was removing wheat. even sprouted and raw has the glutens, which is a really strange prote

i'm not sure how it works with tomatoes. i know with spinach, there are some "supernutrients" that can become toxic in high doses, but that are not overly accessable when raw. so i can't help but think tomatoes are better raw, even if that one nutrient is less accessable. i eat a lot of raw tomatoes.
