i ate raw with no supplements and had very high iron levels (between 13 and 15) even right after giving birth, which is a time when many women who eat 'healthy' still get anemic. it's the processed foods that leach things from your body that can affect anemia. spinach and other veggies have kept me pretty good for a long time. but when i want spinach, i got out and get it.

i've been wanting oranges and this week i decided i was going to get them, and go figure, 4lbs of organic was $3.49, and that was cheaper than the two for $1.19 on the non-organic. HUH? so i got oranges. we shop Market Basket. and the organic oranges there this week was $3.49. it's not a good selection. but it's all i know. i can't wait til the 8lb bags are back in for $4.

actually, i think they might. i can't remember how long it takes, but you want them still a little soft so i'd think six hours would be about perfect. i froze one this afternoon too!! i've taken to freezing whichever half a banana my little guy doesn't want, so that i can have my own treats. and this has become one of my favorites.

how horrible! this is becoming so common, i've heard of it a lot lately. why are his teeth so bad? i would cut all sugar from his diet, and make veggies his chief snack, and give his body time to heal. he's so young. this is so horrible and should not really happen. my baby is 14 months, and has great white teeth (a lot) and we never brush them! i've done it once or twice for fun, bu

it doesn't make the kitchen smell vinegary. but the large glass jar on top of the fridge with the 'mushroom' growing on it does tend to get funny responses from roommates. i had one lady we were living with call it my 'science experiment.' i'd make my own again if i started drinking it. it tastes different, stronger, and it feels better to me. peace-

dates, walnuts, and raw cacao powder. grind them up in either the vitamix or the champion (i don't own anything but my omega, and i use it for EVERYTHING), leaving some of the walnuts chunky. form into a cake. i've seen icings with raw cashews and honey (whipped with water i believe). this date cake is a hit with everyone. it is chewy, caramel-chocolatey, all raw, and feels great!

LOL! it's tangier and bubblier when you make it yourself. you can use it like vinegar on salads when it gets really funky... i posted on the other thread. i like kombucha, but haven't drunk it for two years or so. might start making it again as i think i might need more probiotics. but i don't think you should use it if you don't like it. i know many people who get addicted to it (my

mangokiwi- i drank kombucha a LOT during the first part of my raw transitioning period. i drank so much that i started making it to save money. i made so much that i had to start selling it to other raw foodists just to get rid of it. and about a year and a half in, i lost my taste for it. if you like it and it helps you feel good and clean, then drink it. but don't hold on to it like it

LOL!!! we had dogs and my parents still made us go out and pick dandelion greens when we were kids. i never thought of the details of that until just now. but our garden was in the same backyard as well. lately i've been wondering the same thing, how safe are they? i think my mom would soak them in vinegar and water after rinsing, and then rinse again. that would probably clean them prett

i do food combine. it makes a huge difference. once in a while i'll have some dates after dinner, but usually because my husband wants me to eat multiple courses with him. i always eat my melons alone. this one is very urgent to me. i eat most fruits alone, but apples and pears i will sometimes mix. i eat my fruit first. if i know i want fruit around dinner time, i eat it first. or

young coconuts are good. but expensive, and there is so much meat and juice in the old hairy guys... i can't just leave them to rot on the shelves... and i do love the firm meat and the sweet creamy juice. someone has to love the old guys. balding round, brown from too much sun and very hard to crack open and fibrous so i'll take on the duty.

tried potatoes, but the starchy texture/flavor is too much. they look great, and the texture isn't bad, but the starch aftertaste really grosses me out. on to zucchini. thanks! and always

bluejaunte- YEAH!! so glad to hear that. it does get easier and fast. and green smoothies might work. i don't know. i really couldn't keep them down the first pregnancy at all. and now i eat them like mad. funny about the freezer pops. i've been wanting a lot of frozen fruit stuff. pineapple coconut, yum. i also need the bananas with the raw cacao to give me a starchy/full feeling. coc

i might just have to buy a zucchini and try it. i tried flaxseeds, carrots and garlic, and my baby boy likes them, but my husband spit them out. i can't find any flaxseeds that i don't have an allergic reaction to, so i'm quitting on that one. bananas- i think i'd rather freeze them. potatoes- okay, i'd eat those anyway i can get them now! is there anyway on these? sweet potatoes- do th

give us the directions! you've got us eager and waiting. i painstakingly opened my last one so that i could try and save the shell, but the next day it was cracked at the seems and i almost wept. and my knuckles were still sore from scraping the flesh from the inside... bring on the coconut opener- we're ready.

oh, pistachios. yes, raw but addictive. though i'm a part of NA- nuteaters anonymous. so i don't eat them much anymore they give me bad vibes lately. and i've had too many bitter/rancid ones over the years. i'm scared of most of them. except that lovely giant lady coconut. peace-

thanks all!!! especially harmony- i really understood the article. it totally meshed with my experience with my first baby. i had forgotten that for the majority of my first trimester last time, i only wanted fresh raw juice. anything solid (re: spinach) would come up. and i gave into this and had only mild nausea for two weeks. the woman i lived with was pregnant, and vomited daily and at

i've already done one three day juice fast the first week i was pregnant, and that went very well. we have a huge prayer event coming up and i'm thinking about doing another prayer and juice fast with my husband. i think as long as i take in enough fruit and greens (juiced) that my body will be fine. (i barely had any detox at all on the last fast). does anyone know any reason this would

poor mia! sounds like your body decided to do a major detox. probably all related, some sort of breakthrough, physically. you know, your body realized you were cleaning up seriously, and waited until now to release this store of built up crap. because you can handle it. this too shall pass. and if you keep eating fruit like you are, it shall pass in a matter of days!

hm, i'm not a huge raisin fan, but i actually only like dates when it comes to dried fruit. are dates all dried? but i'd probably order from that site just because they offer that! thanks for the link. just dropping a line to see how all the pregnant ladies are doing. amybass- thanks for giving us lots of links to your blog so we can follow you. bluejaunte- how's it going? nausea?

thanks for that note, dulset- i forgot to mention it. we only mix raw eggs with the rice and the fruit pulp. we always keep the raw meat and fat separate from the cooked foods. (cross-contamination seems scary)

spring hormonal shift? with the earths' increasing fertility? i hate pms. i'd rather be pregnant. i only get the curse every eight weeks, so it's not that often, but it's so bad that my husband requested i get pregnant so he doesn't have to deal with my moods. sending some beauty and peace your way-

LOVE THIS THREAD!!! i sit on the floor with a hammer and a screwdriver i keep in the kitchen just for this purpose. i get brown coconuts b/c they're cheap and i know where to find them. and i love the firm meat. i eat it all in three days. yum, fattiness. my husband laughs so hard at me, i'm like a monkey, cracking, prying. i drain off the fluids first. a hole in one side, then the o

sashimi is raw, nigiri is not because the rice is cooked. and some sashimi is also cooked. but like sodsoff says, it's certainly not vegan. and the seaweed can be raw, but often is not. they toast the sheets for flavor. but the seaweed is vegan.

Wooohooo! even if it passes, i think the medical realm is being forced to reassess their attitude to raw foods and their healing powers.
