anti-raw stance? California has recently passed a ban on raw milk starting in 2008- namely, raw milk with a certain number of one of the many bacterias is no longer 'safe' (it's one of the feeder bacteria that keeps the milk less toxic than pasturized)- and whenever some veggie or fruit has contamination, raw milk is temporarily banned for the 'public's safety'. i work for a raw milk distri

i used to make it with raw sugar. man, my kombuchas were monsters- i had a very happy compost pile. i'd use white sugar if i started making it now, cheaper, and that mushroom thing will eat whatever you give it. so, you can use raw sugar, you just have to monitor it a bit more closely- not to overage or get vinegar.

153. Re: Acne!
i'm an super easy raw-fooder. i do no prep, except to cut and toss together. so lots of salads green juices hm, what else do i eat? i'm not vegan, so i have other things that i cannot mention. but the chief things in my diet are green juices and salads. i've cut out dates recently, and added back in some nuts, but i've lost the taste for them. waisays would tie the sugar and th

i smoked on and off for six years. i went raw, and smoked even less, but didn't try to quit. got pregnant and lost the taste. never gone back. but i found myself working my way there on raw. drinking and smoking were quickly losing their appeal as i grew on raw. i think there have been amazing posts here.

hm, avocados did give me acne. just avocados though, not olive oil. nuts and seeds make it worse too. so it seems some fats do affect it. and hormones. i don't eat dates or other sweet fruits too much, lately, except in green juice (apples and carrots with a lot of green things). and for the first time since i got preggers, my skin is great. i have very low blood sugar and

hm, i have no good news with raw foods and stretches/stretched skin. my thighs stretched when i grew at puberty, and i got marks on the inner part. my breasts sagged when i turned 23, and they stretched too. pregnancy only gave me 5 tiny lines on my belly- but i was raw then, but my outer thighs got stretch marks the first pregnancy. oh, and pregnancy added to my breast stretch marks.

thin rubbery, not very tasty lining. kinda a weird aftertaste- and a tummy ache. i've eaten a lot of old coconuts and never had a problem, so this is odd to me.

i rinse but i don't wash so far only spinach which is gritty has bothered me after seeing what all my child puts in his mouth and then spits out or doesn't and he is NEVER sick (same with dog) i've decided that cleanliness in moderation is all i need

i used to have a really long cycle, and light periods. my last two periods (in may and june) were 28 days, very light, painless and almost nothing of note. then i got pregnant. while raw and breastfeeding, i would ovulate, but not bleed. this happened three or four times. i'm used to a normal cycle, light, painless, and easy. but also long cycles have been normal for me. so i think

i love raw coconut- and the juice is amazing. i pay 1.99 for each of mine, but my husband and i stand in the kitchen and pass the cup back and forth mmmmming and yumming. but whenever i eat the meat- it tastes funny, and i feel sick. any ideas on why?

i went sodium free for years, but my problem wasn't salt, but wheat. but i still eat a low sodium diet, most of the time i add no salt to my foods. but every so often, my body wants salty things. i keep dulse on hand, and sea salt. i just went through a huge salt-eating phase. i desperately craved it, and would be unsatisfied with food unless i added salt. so finally i broke down (worri

my fat always gets really soft right before it melts away. so i think the soft jiggliness is good. as for cellulite- i never had it before i got pregnant. (and it wasn't b/c i didn't have any toxins in my body) but i didn't store my fat as cellulite. the estrogen in pregnancy gave me some weight on the back of my thighs, which faded as i breastfed, and eventually went away, but i'm pretty

i guess since i don't use a lot of recipes, i never run into this problem. i don't like onions or garlic b/c i smell like them for days after i eat them, and they stay on my tongue. so i choose not to eat them. if you have a reaction to onions, i'd stay away from garlic too, too many similar compounds that could affect you. as for texture, sprouts have that fresh crispy crunch, as d

my first pregnancy turned me against caffeine really quickly. but in the second trimester, i could have small doses, and did, third trimester- no more. this time around, i can have small amounts of cacao, but i don't really want it. any other caffeine is just horrible. cacao doesn't affect me as badly as coffee, so i'm not sure about David Wolfe's thing on coffee/cacao/caffeine. but av

i always travel with larabars- but i don't eat them at home. they're like snickers or hersheys to me. delicious, but not as nutritious as fruit and veggies. i don't like some of them (cherry pie, or cashew cookie) but generally find them a fun and easy diversion from my fresh foods, and a nice treat. esp the cacao rich ones now.... yum.

i personally and addicted to my omega 8003- i juice kale, apples and carrots every morning in it. since my dog is raw too, she eats the pulp with a raw egg. nothing is wasted. and spinach and apples and ginger i can't eat veggies too well, they give me gas/indigestion so i juice them i don't own a blender- so my omega is my favorite device ever. better than my champion, whic

smilebig has a good one- i always enjoy my food, and feel good afterward, and generally don't want what other people have. at all. it's kinda snotty, but i'm generally can say i eat all my favorite foods, whenever i want, as much as i want, and always feel satisfied. i don't miss crummy foods, and i let that be known.

nuts and seeds are not something you need a lot of, nor do you need them frequently. i go months without looking at them. and feel great. i agree about the prepared raw/gourmet raw- i don't waste my time. except for banana sorbet with raw cacao- once a month. avocados and olive oil are pretty good. i can live with those pretty well. coconut oil, when desired. i just adjust- seaso

lots of good info here- go slow- you don't need to detox with a baby on board. detoxing is really hard on them. and listen to your body- if you get a headache and realize you've only done fruits and veggies, eat something a little more stablilizing- like brown rice. but adding fruits and veggies in is always important, and you'll probably find the more you eat, the less prenatals yo

congrats- zapple! that's so exciting- i find that juicing is really essential during pregnancy, esp during the first trimester, as nausea is kinda hard and juicing can get you all the nutrients without usually causing nausea. once you hit your second trimester, you'll start craving more carb rich and dense foods- avocados are a huge filler, bananas, still a lot of juice, and coconuts are

amazing i think if my child ever needed breastmilk or my husband or anyone i would probably offer it as for contraception- my kid was solely breastfeeding for 8 months (he had 8 teeth then and was crazy to try food, so i broke down) and i started ovulating at four months, and again at six. six was the real thing. it depends on the woman. some women's bodies want to get preggers, and t

i had a dream about this earlier- how can people not see that their RIGHTS are being trampled on with this bull****?! how can they say things like "we want choices" and then ignore it when the real choices are being edged off the plate and trashed? how can they be so stupid to think that SAFETY FIRST is a good moral law? Safety after life, liberty and the pursuit of happin

oh no, and i'm with you!!! my husband, whom i love dearly, has health cycles. and he's in a bad weight gaining, smoking tobacco pipe, eating crap, drinking crap one right now. and it SMELLS. like his body is tired and overworked and getting sick. but he listens to me partly b/c i can tell him when he's getting sick a week before he gets symptoms. and partly b/c we've fasted and clean

pregnancy doesn't work. i recently went to this sort of event, apples and lara bars smuggled away. my husband has an honesty issue so when they asked i told them i had food but that i was pregnant gluten-intolerant (c'mon, gluten-free stadium food, that's impossible) and on a very strict diet. guess what, they told me to watch on a screen outside the stadium. we went to the other

i did this for a while when i first started juicing- and i just juiced them like any other fruit and did shots of the potent liquor there isn't much juice i would put the pulp through repeatedly and i liked the juice a lot though i would generally cut it with sweeter juices unless i was taking it therapeutically which i usually was. peace-

the republican political structure shouldn't be anti-raw foodist but most idiots who label themselves such would ban us as unsafe i personally am an old school republican, small-gov keep the law off all the details in my life but i don't know any repubs other than Ron Paul who represent for me.
