I have used coconut oil as my main skin moisturiser for many years, and everyone remarks on how radiant and soft, my skin is; because of that, many people I interact with have begun using it themselves and are loving the results. It absorbs best into skin that is still slightly damp. Not everything works for every body, of course; you have to find what works best for you. At other times

So I find myself in a Whole Foods Whole Body Shop a few days ago, and happened to see something at the end od the deodorant shelf: a slim, 3/4"(?) thick little round tube of product listing the same ingredients that I used (sans jojoba & grapeseed oils) for around $12!!!! My jaw hit the floor... Am very happy with my little experiment!

Couple of things I forgot to mention(!) My cocoa butter also has jojoba oil added to it, and the essential oil I used was premixed with grapeseed oil. The deodorant itself has the consistancy of a cream - or more like a slightly softened shea butter. I mixed a small portion of both batches this morning to test and so far it's great (I guess I can use some essential oil but in small enough

HA! I knew there was an ol' thread about homemade deodorant here somewhere!!! coco ~ are you still using that one? I've been going NUTS as even natural (and) herbal deodorants have been drying and irritating my skin; I even have gotten small 'burns'. A couple nights ago I decided to take matters into my own hands and research recipes to try. I found one - a solid which looked interestin

Healthy handful of parsley, @4 carrots, half beet, one or two apples, couple sticks of celery and a nice piece of ginger...yumnnn! A cucumber or zucchini, @ 3 hearts romaine, some mixed greens or a few dandelion greens, handful parsley, carrots, half beet, 2-4 sticks celery, optional apple I'm so used to creating mixes that I don't really measure anything, but these two recipes are approxim

Don't know about the 5200 specifically, but I bought a reconditioned Vitamix TNC in 1996 - and it's been going strong ever since. Only once have a had to do any repairs; two years ago I had the container blades changed, and that's been it. However I know the one I have is one of the better Vitamix selections, so don't know if this actually helps you out any or not!

I make thick 'cigar rolls' of sorts, say, for example, with collard greens or romaine, with even softer (like spinach or baby greens) inside, with celery sticks or a (couple) carrot(s) in the middle. Trying to juice the greens alone, especially the softer ones, is just a joke & incredible waste of time! The only fruit that I juice are apples, and those I juice in combo as well with celery and

Yes you CAN juice greens in the Breville - this is the one I have. All you have to do is juice the greens along with a dense(r) veggie, like celery or carrots at the same time. Works very well for me. I've had mine for almost two years now and have never had any issues with it.

It saddens me to see how callous people can be to others during such a heartbreaking time; it just leaves me speechless. My heart goes out to you. I am so glad that you have a pillar of support, strength, and comfort in your husband. And remember that you have many friends who do love you fiercely...

Thanks for the well wishes, guys, and I am healing nicely, so I'm very happy about that. I am very grateful that I had such a wonderful outcome, but it really made me think of other people who may also be experiencing tooth problems and have been putting off, or can't afford, getting dental care... I've talked to people who even have dentals plans and are still trying to finagle how to get all of

Was debating whether or not to talk about my experience of the past few weeks when I was up to it, since there always seems to be a discussion about dental health / folk with dental issues somewhere on the board when I look around... Some background: about 5 years ago part of one of my upper right molars broke off while I was eating lunch and some of the silver filling went along with it. I wa

I'm grateful that I look so healthy (to other people) that I am often approached by folk in the market, bookstore, etc, and asked for information and tips on how they can improve their own diet and well being; "You look SO healthy that I just have to ask you..." Yea!!! And I get the chance to do something I love to do: help someone one-on-one ;} Makes me smile when I remember past co

Loved 'Empathy' and 'We Are Not Alone', but especially had a blast listening to 'No English Subtitles'; I wish that piece was much longer as there were some really intriguing moments and transitions in there! VERY nice - thanks for sharing, Kwan.

Bananas - must have my bananas;} A variety of berries. Cherries. All that plus mangoes or peaches goes into a smoothie I've been having at least once a day for the past year+ In the past few days I've also had a drink of carrot juice blended with ginger, apples and celery - I have a Vitamix container full of it at a time, and if I could inhale it I would! Just finished a batch...as soon as I f

Grateful to actually HAVE a relationship with my mother now - it only took over 30+ years! And, no, I'm not adopted ;}, we just never had a relationship- EVER! Grateful that I actually find joy in being alive, given that I was seriously suicidal for many years previously, and came tooclose to actually cutting my time here short! Good to see you again - been wondering how you've been doing and whether or not you'd moved already... When you get here to NY you must let me know! You were so fortunate to find such a bargain in Manhattan, especially in the UES - practically unheard of. I guess that's confirmation of making the right move. I hope you're able find work as soon as possible, and wish you a smooth move and trans

Wheatgrass Yogi - was perusing the board, saw this link and just finished reading that entire book at one sitting; thank you for this good deed! I don't have UC myself but this has information that could benefit anyone. Thank you again! Hellokitty - I wish you all the best. I know what it's like to suffer from illness for so long that it becomes "normal" to feel horrible. I hope that

Thanks for posting that additional link, Jericho... Practically all of what you said resonated with me as I connect very strongly with you as a kindred spirit on many levels ;} I'm glad you mentioned the fact that some people are finding themselves being drawn to a certain way of eating / living, for instance, and may not know why; I sure didn't know why I was drawn so strongly to the raw life

That was a fantastic continuation, and I really appreciate how you've stressed that your path involved a real evolution in all aspects, especially mentally and emotionally; people can get so focused on food and diet - whether raw or otherwise - that they neglect the other, extremely vital components of health and wellbeing. You've always made a point of discussing physical / emotional / mental de

Thank you for sharing this with us, and for being willing to be so transparent; living your truth - and with such intensity - must not be the most easy thing to do! I second Wheatgrass Yogi in saying that it was wonderful to get more knowledge of your early history. We've had a very similar upbringing, you and I; that 70's West Indian upbringing was no joke! Watching that clip was one of the most peaceful periods I've had all week; thank you, Kwan, for posting that! For the past couple of years (at least) I've been researching / collecting examples of the meanings and practices of marking the skin in different cultures, and have scrapbooked some tattoo and mendhi designs that just captured and inspired my imagination. And I've been so "itchin
