I was dying for some sugar today, so I had some dark chocolate and a soy chai from starbucks at 3pm. It's sort of my down time, so I sought a quick pick me up. As far as that goes, not the best since it isn't raw, but this isn't going to negatively impact my goals too much, I hope. So far today I have had a banana and some seeds (sunflower and flax) along with green tea. I swam a mile A

I am the same way -- eat well all day and then want to be bad at night. I would suggest pre-making a big, delicious salad for yourself. That way instead of preparing food in the evening, you can just grab the big salad and eat away. Be sure to include some sprouts (for protein/carbs), as well as olives (for good fat). Eat until you are full. Then brush and floss -- call it a night except f

Despite falling off the wagon over the weekend, I am really noticing changes in my body. My energy levels are consistently high with no peeks or valleys, I can fall asleep very easily, any extra fat around my middle is melting away. Before my belly would slightly crease when I sat down, but now it just stays flat and even, my skin looks fantastic. Overall, I feel really good. A friend bought

Well, I am back on track. Today I ate: 1 box of berries and some almonds big salad with sprouts and flax seeds the other half of my salad a banana tea I swam a mile. It is so easy for me to stay raw during the week, because I have a structured routine. However, over the weekend it is quite a challange. So, can we say day #1 100% ray complete. It's annoying to have to start back a

Well, at least I swam 60 laps today -- that was one good thing. I feel heavy and yucky from junk food. I know that I can't eat when I get home -- I need to just bee line it to the bathroom -- brush and floss my teeth so i won't eat when i get home. so the plan for tomorrow is to: berries and almonds in the am big salad for lunch and dinner no snacks -- just green tea and water all day

Well, i have really fallen off the wagon. I guess they were right -- I am a compulsive eater and cannot eat anything at all cooked. I did fine all day: 3 boxes of berries (a bit extreme) some almonds big salad for lunch and dinner but...when I got home all hell broke loose: i was like the very hungry caterpillar. I ate - a mango - a box of berries - celery with hummus (the hummus w

Well, I did fall off the wagon a bit this weekend. Saturday late after my party I had a few leftover cupcakes late at night -- guess it was a misjudgement late at night after drinking wine. Yesterday I was so hungry for non-raw food. I ate cooked indian food, that was leftover from when my sister and friend ordered it. So, I am not going to count Saturday and Sunday as raw successes. How

Thanks! Just completed Day #6 100% raw! And that was even including a shabbat dinner in which people brought lots of yummy cooked food. I ate a big salad with sprouts, which everyone said was really good. Then I had berries and almonds while everyone else ate cookies and cake. Shabbat dinners are usually really challenging for me, so I am really happy about it. What worked? 1. i told peo

I just left a meeting that provided free food -- pizza, the standard in law school. I brought my usual big salad with sprouts. My friend, Steve, gave me a hard time about it (as usual). He often gives me a hard time about my lifestyle habits. I also mentioned that I did spinning this morning and last night. He thinks i am weird, too hard core, etc. He also said that since it is my birthday,

Thanks :-). I decided to count nuts each day, so I won't go overboard. Glad to know others are in the same predicament. Day #5 100% is off to a good start :-). I woke up early and went to spinning at 6am, then did 15 min on the elliptical, some sit ups and leg lifts. and 5 cartwheels. I try to do 5 cartwheels a day to be sure that I still can. I mean, how many 28 year olds can? for br

Hi Meow: Thanks for your note! It is tough to tell so far, since I have really only been doing it for 4 days. However, I find that it helps to eat some dried fruit and nuts about 30-60 minutes before a workout. A handfull will do you just fine. Maybe try that next time. Good luck to you!! This evening I ate a whole bag of grapes a lot of trail mix -- nuts and dried fruit. It was still ra

This is my 4th day 100% raw and I am feeling good. However, I am wondering about Kale and Asparagus -- these two very healthy vegetables seem kind of inedible if you don't cook them, at least a little bit. advice?

I agree with what others have said: -eat more during the day -- maybe try to space your "fats" out earlier so you can have more control by the light of day and won't feel the need to eat them at night. I think the great thing about eating raw is that you become super aware of what your body needs. Your body probably needs fat, so give it to your body. However, if you wait too long d

Is it a good idea, or do you think it is bad to cause a spike in blood sugar so early in the am?

I am going to give up coffee too, but do you drink green tea? I know it is really good for you, and think it would be a shame to give it up.

Thank you so much for your feedback. You are totally right. I am a compulsive eater. I would say that I pretty much have it under control, but then something will trigger me to eat one bad thing and then forget it. I am going to take your advice and eat NO cooked food. I am an all or nothing kind of girl, and I think doing that way will be best. I gave up diet soda (well, any soda for that

This whole evening I have been sipping green tea and water. I think I need to focus on drinking green tea and water, and remind myself how much better I feel when I eat well, and how much better I look when I eat raw.

As far as your gums go, I have heard that it is sometimes a reaction to going raw at first. I think its probably a good idea to keep your eye on the situation. If it doesn't improve, maybe consider going to the dentist. I know what you mean about feeling sick after eating bad cooked food. But instead of thinking of that one little mishap as completely destroying your raw food kick, just thi
