Some of you may remember me from a year or so ago. I decided raw was too extreme for me, and I have gone through a lot of healing since then. I did do some crash dieting and got really skinny, then binged and got back to where I was. I decided that I just need to be kind to myself and have given myself the following rules for 2009: General Rules * Golden rule: always ask, is this g

Hi Ladies: Just wanted to say a quick hello. I still think about you, and am glad to see that you are doing well. Danielle: it sounds like you are really getting strong. That is awesome!! Amy: I know night eating can get to be a bad habit that is tough to break. I have been managing my night eating really well. My advice...plan ahead. Eat a filling dinner lateish (7:30-8) so you won't get

Danielle: Don't worry about one tiny lapse. In the grand scheme of things, one off day is not going to make a difference. You eat so well 99.9% of the time. that one day shouldn't be anything to fret about. Also, your "bad day" included healthy bread and a vegan cookie! Seriously, your day was way healthier than 90% of the American population on a daily basis. I hope you find an ans

Thanks for setting this up! I think we all have times of weakness, during which we could really use some support. Mine are always late at night. It's like another person takes over my body for brief moments, during which I can consume ungodly amounts of chocolate. I think just sitting down and typing here during my emergency times (especially if I get a response from one of you) will help me r

Alexis: Lara bars might help your sugar cravings. They are 100% raw and delicious. I also eat fish and eggs sometimes. If you feel the need for these, then these are healthy ways to get protein. You could also try raw hemp protein powder, and tempeh. Good luck!

Amy: I think it is funny how you always say that you "ramble," when your posts are generally shorter than everyone else's. Really, we are happy to listen/read and don't feel like you are rambling! Your writing on this forum is more for your benefit than ours anyway :-). I am really proud of you for finding such a good cooked/raw vegan balance. Well, hanging out with my uncle in Chi

Hi Ladies: Amy, don't feel bad about logging non-raw foods. This isn't a "100% raw only" forum. It is "Rawfoodsupport"! Natalie Rose, author of the "Raw Food Detox," isn't herself 100% raw or even 100% vegan, so don't feel bad about eating cooked food now and again. I am going to eat 100% raw for the next few days. In Chicago I ate out with my family, ended up

Hi Ladies: Just wanted to say a quick hello to let you know that I am thinking of you. I have been in Chicago for the past few days and my grandmother's internet is SO SLOW! Anyway, I am feeling good and have fallen into a good rhythm of eating 4 times a day: b,l,s,d. I am feeling good about it, and have been actually quite good at making the last thing that I eat be 8-9pm. I have been chatti

Hi Ladies: I too have been MIA. Sorry about that, I do want to post here. However, I must admit that I feel weird recording non-vegan things. Especially fish! Soraya: Good for you for keeping such good track of the vitamins and minerals that you are eating!! Very impressive :-) Amy: I hope you had fun with your friend, although I am sure it was tough to stay raw when eating with someone

Hi Ladies: Soraya -- glad to hear that you are feeling good on your new plan :-). The dress is beautiful and I am so excited about it :-). Thanks for your kudos re the night eating monster. It is just a matter of imagining myself coming home, putting my stuff down, and brushing my teeth. Once my teeth are brushed, I am less likely to want to eat. Also, thanks for the B-12 info. Hi Ladies: Amy -- sorry you didn't make it to Cambodia :-(. That must have been frustrating! Glad you stayed raw though. Good job!! Danielle -- I am happy to see that you are letting some cooked food into your diet, and feeling good about it! Soraya -- Wow, a B12 patch sounds awesome! I actually never heard of that before. I'll check it out. I am feeling good, and am happy on my program :

Hi Ladies: I just found out something terrible. This girl, Amy, that I used to cheer with in high school (yeah, I was a cheerleader), was just diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. I feel so, so sad for her! Totally makes me appreciate my physical abilities. It also puts my struggles with weight into perspective. I think that I need to change my focus -- rather than becoming obsessed with m

Hi Ladies: Sorry I disappeared yesterday. I hope all is well with both of you! Danielle: I ate asparagus raw before, but I didn't like it very much that way. It (and kale) were really tough for me to digest raw. Did you like the asparagus raw? Amy: Glad to hear you had such a great time with your mom!! Soraya: Glad you are liking the bananas :-). Danielle: It sounds like you have a lot of good reasons for living in LA for now. It is just a matter of finding your group, and feeling comfortable with your relationships. I am sure that you will be able to do it. After soul searching and doing a bit more research, I think the best plan for me will be to do a combo of raw food and south beach. Basically, thinking of raw vegetables as the

Danielle: I am so sorry to hear that you keep on getting let down by people. I can certainly see why that would be frustrating and disappointing. I think it is amazing how much inner strength you have to get through all of this! Out of curiosity, why do you live in LA? I always thought of it as a pretty superficial and shallow place, no offense. You see much more profound than that. I am sure

Amy: I am so sorry to hear about your frustration! I am beginning to think that standing on the scale is a bad idea. I mean, if you feel happy with how you look and feel, and are comfortable with your eating and exercise habits, the number on the scale is just an arbitrary number! Maybe ask your roommate to put it in her room, or just don't stand on it. Also, every scale tends to have its nuanc

Well, I decided that 1 day of fasting was enough for me. Back to being raw today. I went to the grocery store and bought a bunch of fruit. Yum! So far today I have eaten: -apple -box of raspberries -box of blueberries I am going to do a week of eating only fruits and veggies -- as much as I want whenever I want. But no eating after 8pm. I'll see how that makes me feel and where it p
