i'll second coco's recommendation on Byron Katie. its one thing to read books like the Tao Te Ching, The Power of Now, the writings of Gangaji, the Dala Lama etc., and another thing to apply them to your life. after reading her books "loving what is" and "i need your love, is that true?" for the first time in my life, i was able to apply everything i understood intellectually

i personally can do sweet fruits with greens, in green smoothies OR salads. but i can't do other types of veggies and sweet fruits. so for instance, if i add apples to my salad i can't add snow peas. weird huh?

hey GA, i was thinking you could do it in "rainbow order":
red: apples
red day 2: red grapes
orange: oranges
yellow: bananas
yellow day 2: pineapples
green: celery
green day 2: green grapes
green day 3: cucumbers
blue/indigo/violet: purple grapes
that's 9 days!

rawtastic is right, you're not going to find the magic raw food bullet that stops the cycle of emotional eating. you've got to attack this problem holistically. i understand about emotional eating. for me, its not even about craving pizza, burritos, chocolate, M&Ms, or whatever IT is, so raw substitutes don't cut it for me. its more about self-sabotage, about not feeling worthy, about bringin

gosh, there are so many recipes online, why would anyone ever purchase a cookbook? and its so convenient to just google what you want to make and come up with ten different recipes to compare and get ideas from! (ex: let's see, i've got a bunch of beets here, how about "raw foods recipe borscht"
when i first went raw i went to the library and borrowed every book on raw foods i could f

i use my vitamix daily, but no electric juicer (manual citrus only), no dehydrator, no food processor. i have a manual spiralizer that i like a lot. i like the items i have, but i am not attached. you could take everything away from me... blender, spiralizer, manual citrus juicer, knife and cutting board... and i would still joyfully eat RAW.

that's amazing. its cool when you think that the body has prioritized all of its healing projects for you, and has accomplished so many of them (most unbeknownst to you) that it now has time to tackle something as relatively insignificant to its healthy functioning as scar tissue. think of how healthy your internals must be for scar tissue to make the current TO DO list!
good for you! you des

167. Re: passion fruit
i just slurp those things up, but they are great in smoothies. my favorite way to eat them is to take half a papaya, remove the seeds, scoop the passionfruit into the papaya boat, and squeeze lime over the whole thing. YUM!
FYI you want to wait until the passionfruit turns UGLY, starts to get all wrinkly and brown, before you eat it. its not ripe when its all firm and pretty and yellow/green.

i personally wouldn't tell the doctor anything special in advance. and i wouldn't mention the raw vegan thing either. my allopathic doctor never asks me anything about my diet, which i find hilarious. (i only go for regular checkups covered by my insurance.) if she WERE to ask me any questions about my diet, i would merely state that i eat a very healthy whole foods diet of mostly fresh fruits an

there is a difference i think between "drinking" which is just person x drinking substance y, and being an aloholic, which is a specific type of person consuming a substance that they cannot physically process.
there have been times in my life when i have partied a lot, drank alot. but i am always ME, maybe less inhibited, but not essentially different. i don't drink alcohol anymore

i was an intimidated sprouter, but once i took the plunge (with a nudge) i found it to be incredibly easy and fun. sprouts have become the bulk of my greens (mostly because they are so CHEAP... and where i live spinach is $7/lb, and a small head of lettuce is $2!)
good luck. dive in, you'll love it!

177. Raw Lima Beans?
I saw these cool looking fresh (not dried) beans today at the farmer's market, i bought a small bag just because they looked so beautiful. i was told they were lima beans, but i haven't been able to find a photo of them anywhere online that matches what i have here in my hands. they range in size but most are HUGE (bigger than a quarter) with a white and brown mottled exterior (mostly white). the
