I have four kids. I think that if your baby doesn't seem uncomfortable, he's probably fine. Babies don't generally have regular BM's like older people do, and breast fed babies have an optimal diet, so if your diet doesn't have any common allergens in it like listed above, I wouldn't worry about it.

Wow-- I've never tried dandelion flowers. I have a ton in my yard! I have a hard time sometimes finding leaves that are not bitter. We grow nasturtiums and borage to eat -- yum yum!!

Rustic's blog post is good. My list: 1) My partner and I grow whatever we can. It is becoming a livelihood -- we have grown from gardens to a 9 acre farm at this point and are trying to harvest as close to year round in Massachusetts as possible (we're a bit obsessive). 2) Other local farmers in the area, including farmers' markets, u-pick orchards, bartering. 3) the local co-op. My partner wo

I think Tropical is right. My oldest was very colicky and did a lot of projectile vomiting the first few months. I had to eat a very bland diet (no garlic, onions, spice, brassicas, dairy and I was veg and didn't eat fat). What else helped was to put him in a baby pack that allowed him to hang with our tummies together and to take very long walks. As soon as he was strong enough, I put him in a J

No, people just don't have the attention span, or memory span, so all you have to do is not mention something for a while and everybody forgets. It's no longer new news.

Mangos. I buy really raw almonds by the 5 lb. bag when I am in California. Right now we are "growing in bulk" -- kale, lettuces, radishes, strawberries, collards and spinach, this week.

They should pay to have your stuff cleaned. They should have told you about the diarrhea up front. Poor kittens. Good luck!

I bought some in San Diego in March and started using it in my morning smoothies when I get my monthly "bitchies" -- which is usually two weeks a month, unfortunately. It helps perk me up a bit and definitely makes my mood more positive, but I haven't noticed any libido differences (which is fine).

I'm like that too, Lee! glad to hear this serendipitous story -- sounds like you needed a little synchronicity in your life. Good luck and keep us posted; our thoughts and prayers are with you.

"So sorry about the perimenopausal symptoms. I went through that; all I can say is you'll wake up some day and it'll all be over, and you'll heave a big sigh of relief!" ----- Thanks for the support, Kwan! It can be really tough in the meantime. This month seems to be going a little better. I'm taking evening primrose, black cohosh, and more seaweed and algaes, and trying really hard to

I don't, but I know some people in town who have a kombucha company. They make ginger, schizandraberry, blueberry, green and for the local garlic and arts festival, garlic kombucha. Just add some of your favorite raw juice to the finished product. Definitely go online or talk to someone if you decide to make it, bucause there are some nuances I missed, like treating the scobe delicately (how t

I first got into raw foods in 1983 and really loved it until I got pregnant and had cravings for non-vegan food. Not much info back then, but I read Walker, Kulvinskas and Wigmore a lot. I tried to incorporate it but never did more than 50-60% for more than a few months. In 2004 I started going online and researching it, then upped my raw intake at that time, but being pregnant again, didn't go 1

I agree with Tamukha -- they need to be relatively fresh -- eaten in October or November. They store longer, but for raw, you want that sweet, nutty, buttery flavor. Okay, the recipe: I first made it using a recipe from Ani Phyo's book Ani's Raw Food Kitchen, then tweaked it to my liking. (BTW, her book has some great recipes). The day before, soak 1/4 cup almonds overnight and rinse in

It is made by brewing black and green tea, adding Florida crystals while it is really hot, stirring it well, cooling it to room temp, then carefully dumping it into a large glass jar with a scobe, or mother -- kind of a big, portabella looking thing that is a living organism which feeds off the tea and sugar and produces an effervescent, probiotic drink. We got our scobe on Craigslist. It takes a

It's been a couple of weeks since I've posted here. I've been having ups and downs, mostly ups. A couple of days ago a friend came back from four months in Fla. She did the Hippocrates thing for a few weeks (didn't stay at the facility) because she had a host of medical problems, then stayed and met lots of great people, basked in the sun and stayed 100% raw. I couldn't believe the difference whe

I agree -- mentally, too. I had the worst winter of my life in New England as far as depression goes, and when I spent 8 days IN the San Diego sun, the depression was GONE!!! I don't use sunscreen either. If I am out all day in the hot sun I wear a cool, long sleeve shirt, but that rarely happens. My mom, the sunscreen junkie has had skin cancer, but I haven't. I don't worry about it -- I think s

I don't think I would do chemo. My dad died from chemo (not cancer) ten years ago. If it were my kid -- tough one. One of my kids had cancer, but so far she hasn't needed chemo or radiation, just surgery. That was six years ago and so far, the cancer has not come back.

I didn't watch it either yet, but it is a sad situation. My dad died because of a "new, wonderful chemo" which shut down all of his vital organs. It was very sad to experience, and had I known about it before he did the chemo instead of while he was dying, I think I would have tried to stop him. Monday will be ten years. He was 61.
