I'm thinking I'm going to put myself on a strictish schedule this week, for many reasons: I have a lot of art and housework to do, I haven't seemed to get it together to plan enough good raw meals to keep me off of cooked food, I need to prioritize exercise and meditation, which I have been sadly neglecting, and I keep forgetting to take my vitamins and herbs, which really help me with various pr

I've been drinking coffee so long that I find it hard to stop for any length of time right now, even though I know that it is acidifying. I don't drink it every day, and when I do it's one cup in the morning. I quit for a week, then I have a really busy night at work and have to get up early the next day, so I use it as a crutch. It's on my list of things to quit consuming altogether.

Hi Mry_PL -- Root veggies are delicious grated in salads. I also make a great raw soup with avocado, miso, grated veggies, raw mushrooms, bean sprouts, a little garlic and spice, and something called spirulina, a blue green algae (or maybe bacteria) that you can get at your local health food store. It's very nutritious and delish -- my four year old eats it plain! I just use a teaspoon or two.

I say if your dog is thriving, it must work for her. Dogs are omnivore, so if she's eating it healthfully, then great!!

Our dog eats 80% or more raw, but not vegan. He does love veggies and fruit and gets as much as he wants.

I normally don't like the idea or go to zoos either. A friend who found out I was going to San Diego wanted to treat me and my daughter to a trip to the zoo, so we went. The zoo's exhibits were outside, and the animals had vegetation and didn't seem agitated or otherwise uncomfortable. The San Diego Zoo is supposed to be one of the best zoos, and my daughter got to see animals she wouldn't otherw

I don't really eat grains, but I sprout and eat beans every day (mung, adzuki and lentil). I like seed sprouts too, but haven't sprouted them myself in a while. I just eat them at salad bars and when my hubby brings them home from the co-op.

Hmmm... interesting post. I confess that I eat nutritional yeast on popcorn on a regular basis and struggle with some of the symptoms on the above list. I'm going to try to cut it out and see what happens. Thanks!

I'm a big girl, and if I start my day with a 36 oz. smoothie consisting of 2T. ground flax seeds, a head of lettuce or a similar amount of other greens and 5 or so pieces of fruit, I'm good for four or more hours. I think the greens and flax are key here. Also, I wonder if exercise may actually help. I think our bodies are more efficient in general if they are exercised. It seems like the opposit

Interesting articles, EZ. Makes me feel really good about eating my own organically farmed food, which I often do not wash, much to my hubby's chagrin! We're tossing around the idea of inoculating some of our woods with mushroom spores. I wonder if the amount of sunlight in a shady forest would give them enough UV light to boost their levels of Vit. D. I'll lay out in the sun tomorrow and ponder

My two sons are some of the best cooks I know. Tell 'em girls love men who can cook -- it's true!!! Let them help plan meals, too. Those two things should help motivate them.

Hi Petrichor -- I too am struggling with the heightened emotions when I go all raw. I have a lot of things I am struggling with in my personal life, and when I go all raw, so are my emotions. I realize that the #1 reason I still eat cooked is to stuff these emotions. I am calling a therapist today to try to help me with my struggles, and hopefully then I will be more able to surpass this obstacl

It's great that you both are trying to keep this as positive as possible for the kids. I've been there, and my situation wasn't so positive. Unfortunately, the kids suffered because of it and there were several difficult years. Also, especially with kids, divorce is never really final. My thoughts are with your family.

Life is very busy these days! The farm is rocking!!!!!We have broccoli, tons o' lettuce, collards, kohlrabi, kale, scallions, peas, carrots, and the tomatoes are starting to ripen!!! We're both working our "real" jobs, too, and spending quality time with our little one. I'm still having trouble staying all raw and my weight has been creeping up lately. How do you strengthen will power?

If I start my day with a big green smoothie (a head of lettuce, 2T ground flax seeds, 1t. agave and about four pieces of fresh fruit, lately) I feel very satisfied until afternoon. I am still not 100% raw and am battling the same things, but I know that I'm eating better than I used to. Roirraw is right -- and as I am more conscious of what the effects of the cooked foods I eat are on my body (an

I make almond milk all the time. It is very easy -- the hard part is finding the really raw almonds. I add a little cacao and a banana or two and freeze it into popsicles for my daughter.
