I was thinking gall bladder too. My daughter had similar symptoms, and at 23 they removed it. She feels a lot better now, but surgery isn't something you just want to jump into. She got a couple of opinions.

Good article, Debbie. I take about an hour to drink my 32 oz. morning smoothie, swishing it through my mouth. I was wondering, I should probably rinse my mouth with baking soda solution afterwards, right?

I do too! this is definitely a process. We are completely changing our lives in a sense, and I'm glad you are patient with yourself. I haven't smoked in a long time, but I did drink a martini and three glasses of wine the other day -- oops!!

Definitely, especially when David cooks -- he's amazing in the kitchen (and in the garden, and with our daughter, and...)

Yay, m! I used to live in Chico! If you've been there any amount of time over three years and do the Chico market, I'm sure we've met!!! (I moved away three years ago.) That market was my Saturday ritual!!!

I hear you, Liberation!! I'm a Cali girl living in New England, and this past winter was especially brutal for me. I was depressed all winter, and late in March I went to San Diego to visit my oldest son for eight days. I spent the entire time in the sun, got a great tan (my souvenir!), put in a fat, phat garden with my son, and came back feeling soooo good!!! Now the weather here is nice (today,

Exercise seems to help me with the buzzy energy. I worked out Wed. evening and felt great. Last night I worked (as a server in a restaurant), so that was my exercise for the day. Going to do some yoga later today, then work tonight and tomorrow. Today is harvest day for the farmer's market, so it's going to be a busy one.

I was just thinking (and writing in another person's diary) about the energy shift when one embarks on raw eating. I've been in the habit of eating some cooked food when I feel it because I don't know what to do with it, but I think I am finally in a place where I can ride it out. It isn't really a bad energy, just different, and to me it feels like maybe if I let it grow, I'm going to experience

Hi Arrow!
It sounds like you are off to a great start! I definitely resonate with you about the strange energy. It does feel buzzy. It isn't really a bad energy, just different, and to me it feels like maybe if I let it grow, I'

Still struggling with too much cooked food. I know that for me, high raw is optimal, yet I keep eating cooked because it is all around me and it is convenient. I have been very busy and haven't had time to make sure all the ingredients I need to make even a smoothie are in the house when I need them. Also, my exercise routine has kind of gone down the tubes.
On a good note, we had our first fa

Yes. After I wash my hair with baking soda, I rinse it well with the juice of a lemon, then I take the rind, turn it inside out and use it like a sponge. It makes my skin really soft.

Try putting out a bunch of cut veggies and guacamole or hummus or whatever dips your family likes before dinner as an appetizer, just to get your family used to eating raw vegetables. Also, try to get your kids involved in making salads -- my four year old will eat three helpings of salad, but only if she helps make it. Consider growing a garden and getting your family involved in that. This also

141. The BEST smoothie
I'm drinking the best smoothie of my LIFE:
2 big leaves of curly kale
2 dandelion plants (not including roots)
1T flax seeds
1T sesame seeds
1T maca powder
1 small banana
1 mango
3 small peaches
2t. agave
enough water to make 1 qt.
What's your favorite smoothie? I'm sure this topic has come up. This one is so yummy I had to go there again.

Thanks, Law. I do journal, and I agree that exercise helps, and I haven't found time lately to do it, but I'm going to yoga class tonight. I think that part of my problem seems to have been related to Seasonal Affective Disorder -- I'm still not used to these New England winters (last one was my third). I went to Cali last month and got a big, fat Vit. D fix, and since I've been back the weather'

I kind of bombed some of the days of the high raw week, but I think I stayed above 50%. It wasn't what I had hoped I would do. I hadn't had kale in the house all week. Kale is my main smoothie green, and since I didn't have it, I didn't start my day with my morning smoothie, which threw me off right from the start. I bought some yesterday (hubby didn't plant it as early as he had last year -- we

I think that a large variety of raw foods (think veggies and fruit of all colors, nuts, seeds and sprouts) will give you a good balance of nutrients. I would increase the amount of good fats (avocados, nuts and seeds) for the baby's developing brain and nervous system.
Are you new at the raw food thing, or have you been at it a while? If you have been doing it a while, you probably already kno

My little daughter, and all the things she comes up with -- like insisting on giving my friend who happened by for a minute on the way to a meeting while I was gone and wanted to peek at the greenhouses. My daughter, who's 4, insisted on giving her a tour, pointing out each type of seedling (she knows them all) -- "this is the kale, and these are the baby pea shoots. Oh -- and this is rosema

146. Re: Cool Pictures !
Way back in the day, when I was having a house built, we lived in a travel trailer and had a TV set up outside with lawn chairs and we would sit out there and watch it, but my boys loved this (they were 6 and 9 at the time): we would watch the praying mantises eat the grasshoppers that landed on the TV, which backlit them kind of eerily. Kind of gross, but interesting if you are a boy that age. (

Great post! I remember when she did this speech, and it really struck me! Children are so brutally honest about their vulnerability and what is really important (or what should be). I think part of why I "accidentally" got pregnant and had another baby is that I still had lessons to learn and needed another child in my life so I wouldn't be so selfish. My little sage teaches me and lots

Thanks, Tania. Today was kind of opposite -- I started out the day with mostly raw with some unraw, but then ate salad all afternoon and evening, so it ended up better than I expected. Now that spring is here and I don't have to be trapped in my house because of the weather, I'm hoping that I can process some of this energy. Being busier (which I am these days) helps too.

Jgunn I know what you mean -- my neighbor uses them too and our houses are fifteen feet apart.
Today was a 90% day -- I started with a little non-raw but mostly raw food, then ate salads for lunch and dinner. I'll start tomorrow with a big smoothie and try for 98-100% (I want to account for the random condiment). I'm hoping for three good workouts this week too, but work, art and the farm are
