Marcos, Actually, my personal experience with supplements and various forms has cleansing has shown me that depending on those external "health" aids pales in health improvement when compared with making long term lifestyle and diet changes. Since quitting the supplements, superfoods, and cleanses, and focusing instead on eating a low fat raw vegan diet with plenty of rest, sleep, su

A month before my detox (and before that), my raw diet looked like: 8am: 1 cantalope 10am: 2 pounds of grapes 12pm: salad - 1/2 bunch kale, 1/4 pound spinach, tomatoes, 2 avocados, 1/4 cup olive oil, Braggs liquid aminos, apple cider vinegar, 1 clove garlic, cumin 6pm: another salad like the one at lunch As you can see, it was a very stimulating diet with lots of fat. Also during that pe

By the way, if you feel like you have a "fatty" liver, it would be best just to cut out fats for a while, and cut out any foods that might tax the liver. If you were just to eat whole fresh ripe raw organic fruits for a few weeks, this would give the liver a great break from digesting fatty foods.

I've heard that the "stones" that come out after the olive oil/lemon juice flush are just saponified oil, which is a result of the olive oil, lemon juice, and bile salts mixing together. Furthermore, if you doubt this, just take your "stones" and put them in the sun, and they will melt into oil.

Your instincts are right on track. A whole food is always going to be healthier than a partial or refined food. Nature puts nutrients in food in the proportion that we need them, assuming these foods are ones we can eat and taste good to us in their raw state. Fiber is a necessary nutrient, and without fiber it is hard for the digestive system to clean itself. I will drink a juice now and t

Yes, I would eat non-organic if I could not afford organic. If the non-organic foods are whole, fresh, ripe, raw fruits and vegetables, they are the best you can do. Some foods are OK commercial because they have thick skins or they tend not to get sprayed that much. Avocados and figs are among the cleaner commercial. The leafy greens and soft fruits like strawberries tend to be the worst.

One thing to remember is that there is nothing medicinal or curative about raw vegan foods, but its that when you eat a health raw vegan diet, that you are introducing very little of the foods that cause the problems. The foods that cause a lot of problems on the Standard American Diet in terms of skin disorders are animal products, processed foods, and grains. If you are to eat cooked foods,

Marcos, Interesting your choice of words. Rather than discuss the merits of what Graham has to say, you found it necessary to judge him as a person, to belittle his character so that your point will have more merit. While I might not agree with some of the the advice of some raw proponents and I'm happy to point out flaws in things I might have a disagreement with, I certainly have nothing to

Speaking of Russia and kombucha, here is what Victoria Boutenko said about it in her raw FAQ: DO YOU LIKE KOMBUCHA TEA? I don't believe that Kombucha is as helpful as they say, because I came from Russia. There, everyone has Kombucha tea on their windowsill, and it doesn't seem to help much.

Frozen foods are affected also, though not as bad as cooked foods. In a freezer, esspecially a frost-free freezer, frozen foods can dehydrate. It is with this dehydration that foods lose their nutrients. Some foods, like durian, have enough fat in them that protects the cell walls from this kind of damage. Both freezing and cooking cause nutrients to get lost. However, cooking also introduces tox

Many people have healed their hypo/hyper glycemia by eating a low fat raw vegan diet. This is because fats in the bloodstream inhibit insulin from carrying sugar from the blood to the cells. In Dr Graham's FAQ, he covers the issue of sugar problems versus fruits versus fats: ---------------- I have candida or a yeast infection. How can I eat so much fruit? Excess fat is the culprit in ca

From Dr Graham FAQ: Can I use vinegar in my salad dressing? Vinegar is diluted acetic acid, commonly known to be a poison in its pure form. Acetic acid stimulates the thyroid gland to pull phosphorous from the adrenal glands to negate the effects of acetic acid in the system. Depleted phosphorous results in impaired function of the adrenal glands and thus the entire endocrine system. The o

Hi Lil D, Many men and women lose hair on the raw diet during the initial transition / detox phase, but it every case I've heard of the hair has grown back, healthier and as thick as it was before the hair fell out. My guess is that either way, if you are 75% raw, or you were to continue with 100% raw vegan, your hair will return. After I transitioned to 100% raw, I was looking very thin an

When I first went raw, I used Braggs ACV because back then I thought it was a health food. I would use it to make my salad dressings. However, as I learned about the toxicity of the acetic acid in vinegar (and Bragg's is 5% acetic acid), I started using lemons to make my salad dressings. If you want to read about acetic acid toxicity, check out this link.

Bell, When I quit coffee, my body had a horrible time digesting. This is because my body became addicted to coffee as far as my digestion went. Without the coffee, my digestion became totally sluggish, and things didn't want to digest. What was going on is that once I quit the coffee, my body was super fatigued. I had accumlulated so much sleep debt over a 12 year period of not sleeping muc

Part of being a raw foodists is taking responsibility for what food goes into your mouth. To be fully responsible, it requires doing your own shopping that so food choices are not dictated by others. As long as you let your father shop for you, you are telling the universe that you are not yet ready to take full responsibility for your diet, as you are letting your father dictate what you eat.

When I was transitioning to the raw diet, the cooked food that I had the hardest time not putting into my shopping cart were wheat products, namely sprouted wheat tortillas and manna bread. What I did was to not try to force myself to quit the grains, but to allow myself to eat them but to pay attention to how they made me feel. Over time, as I watched how these last cooked made me feel, I was ab

I remember in chemistry using a centrifuge to purify or to separate different elements out of a solution. This centrifugal method of purification, or refinement, is pretty reliable and does a good job of separating out "impurities", or in this case, nutrients. So my answer is it is pretty refined. Not refined would be eating the whole coconut meat, which is not what you are doing. B

Marcos, Raw sugar is refined sugar. Unless you are throwing whole dates or whole bananas in your kombucha, you are putting in a refined product into the mix. Is the sugar you are putting into the kombucha a whole food as found in nature, or has it been refined in some way, that is processed such that it is no longer in its original whole fresh state? My guess is that it has been refined. A

There is no healthy solution for stimulation when you are tired except to take a nap. It is possible to stimulate your body with your mind and breathing, but this is still less healthier than taking a nap. The problem with stimulation is that it takes away more than it gives. That is, while you get some short term energy from the stimulant, it requires your body to rest even longer to recover fro

Like macfly said, cucumbers make an excellent noodle. I like using the English cucumbers, because they have fewer seeds than normal cucumbers. I also like using them in the spirooli because of the thicker noodles than the spiralizer.

Marcos, While I can see that you don't agree with the "natural hygienists", even though you haven't a clue what natural hygiene is about, how can you recommend to people to drink kombucha, especially when some of the folk here are sensitive to alcohol, and even a little bit can restart their addiction that they've worked so hard to free themselves of?

Again, how can eating a product that is made from refined sugar, the very stuff that on the cooked diet everyone is trying to keep out of their diet, going to give us excellent health? Alcohol kills cells. Period. Yes, having a glass of wine or beer or kombucha isn't going to kill you, however they are not health drinks. What is funny is that no one questions that wine and beer are not health dri

jmmveg, By the way, everyone of your 15 trillion cells in your body runs on sugar. While it is possible for the body to convert fat into sugar or protein into sugar, the best way to get sugar into the cells is to eat whole fresh ripe organic fruits. People who don't allow themselves to eat sufficient fruit will find themselves going back to cooked foods to eat starches like bread, pasta, and p

As far as putting sugar into the blood, eating something like bread or pasta is going to put much more sugar into the blood at a much faster rate then fresh fruit. This is because the fruit has soluble fibers that regulate the rate at which the sugars enter into the blood.

Some people really like the tastes of those green powders. For those people, there is something in the green powders their bodies need or wants, thus the powder tastes good to them. For others, the green powders taste disgusting, and this is their bodies telling them that they don't want or need the powder. It sounds to me like your body doesn't want the powder. If you want to get excellent gr

If people want to eat some pure, 100% refined product, that is fine with me. However, if they say that this food is a health food, which if fine for them to say, I should be able to point out the flaws in their arguments, without having it called an "attack". Which of us is trying to sell a product, and which of us is saying that you can be healthy without buying a "superfood"
