I was meaning for myself, it is suggested that I get a rabies vax. I was wondering how raw people feel about that? I don't need to get them for my cats, since they are indoors and they come first in my house.

I don't like vaccinations, nor do I give them to my companion animals who live indoors. I do not even give them the rabies one, even thought it is "a law". My question: I am getting more involved with animal rescue, and I keep reading that is essential ones gets a rabies shot. I do encounter raccoons quite a bit, so I am turning to you guys for any advice. I haven't had any vaccinati

thank you all SO much for the great advice - some of it I never had heard of (artichoke, vinegar - wow, interesting)
I wanted to report that I did eat alot of those protective foods last night and had some fresh aloe vera to slather on. This morning, I have a slight tan, but nary a burn or patch of red. I am honestly shocked. I just can't believe I am not lobster red and in pain. My boyfriend

Re: getting a blender. I got my vita-mix on a payment plan program - think I paid it in installments over 4 or 5 payments. Just wanted you to know that, in case that's an option for you. I use it all the time, it was the best investment. I don't work for them, lol! chk out the vita-mix site, they might still offer this option.

ok, had to turn to all you smart raw people on this!
I know most of you love to be in the sun and can tan, etc. I just am not a big fan of the look on me, as I am very fair, (Celtic DNA!) and enjoy it but do it wisely with limited exposure, long sleeves, hats. I do use mineral/chemical free sunblocks sometimes as well.
I am about 80% raw still - I had an unavoidable situation (an animal

what a great thread!
I remember the first day I heard about "living foods" was at a Whole Life Expo (something like that) in LA. There was a booth of African American women, dressed in flowing robes and headdresses of orange and yellow. They had glowing skin and sculpted cheekbones and seemed to move with a serenity that stood out. I ordered these 'burgers' and some other salad st

hi everyone!
I searched all the old cayenne posts and didn't see this addressed. Is there some cayenne that is better than others? or is the average grocery store version ok? I searched some raw sites for super cool organic versions but didn't come up with anything. I just know some spices have anti caking crud in them, and wanted to get the best kind.
thank you!

It feels natural to me to drink fresh juice all day and then eat one meal in the early evening. Is there truly a drawback to that, like I was reading? Does your body get confused? I was doing this to kind of prepare for a juice feast (ok, I like the feast word! it feels abundant, not lacking and it feels so good, I wondered if anyone had any ideas on this. Is it harmful - does the body think

16. Re: vinegar
don't know about vinegar, but I like to rub the remains of papaya on my face - the enzymes will exfoliate the dead cells off, leaving a nice glow. That shouldn't irritate your skin, I don't think?

thanks for posting that - very interesting. I realized how addictive and obsessive I can be (even w/ good habits) - things were never good enough, not organic enough, etc. If I am juice fasting, then I obsess about a cucumber, and if I am eating all raw I day dream about a baked sweet potato, etc....so I think really understanding ones personality, habits, soft addictions, etc., can tell which

I don't think I have ever seen organic watermelon in my area - I just get regular. Juicing it or making a smoothie w/ berries and crushed ice are my faves.

I am not 100% raw but at times when I have been, they got more blue - I'd say more cool tone looking then their usual green. I notice if I juice alot or juice feast/fast, within two days the blue hue is there. Seriously, it's one of the first changes I notice, it's really wierd. I had blue eyes as a kid (up til about 8) then they changed to green...leaves me wondering if they are supposed to b

I keep reading about some raw foodists who take bee pollen while on a juice feast. They never say 'how' they get it in their systems. I thought it had to be smooshed (technical term to release the special magical stuff, no? Like in a vitamix. or do people chew it and swallow? isn't that eating then? you can't just mix it in w/ your juice, right?
thanks!

28. Nori - soaked?
It never occured to me that one might soak nori sheets....I bought some that is labeled raw and it is super super chewy/tough. Ones I had in the past were not so chewy and probably not really raw. So, what's the scoop, should I soak the sheet first or would it fall apart?
