Thanks Tamukha, All my searching has been on the web. Except for the lactation consultant--I talked to her in person at my local health food store. He does seem fine otherwise. I've been massaging his abdomen and it usually seems to stimulate him to @#$%& a little later that day. So he's been @#$%& more, due to the massages. So far he's been @#$%& every day, or every other day. He doesn'

Hello everyone. My breastfed 5 month old went from @#$%& very often throughout the day to @#$%& once every 5 days. When he does @#$%& it is very thick and smelly. I'm told by everyone that this is "normal" for breastfed babies, and that they are just "using every nutrient possible from the breastmilk and all that's left is a thick sludge." I was told that by a lactation consul

Sunshine79, I do have a slight curvature in my lower back (more than the average person)...nothing that's ever been observed by a doctor as being bad, but that probably contributes a bit. Also, I've been mostly raw but had a period of 50% or so raw, lasting a few months. I have seen a chiropractor, but that was just for aches and pains. What was the gyst of the liver cleanse that you did?

mmm...just had another smoothie. I feel grrrrreat!!! I love my smoothies: two one inch rings of pineapple one navel orange 1 cup of unpasturized orange juice (Just Pik'd brand...its frozen (not from concentrate or condensed, but in liter containers) in the freezer section) 1 large or two medium kale leaves 3 second circular squirt of raw agave nectar Did you vary your smoothies? I know

Ok so I know I just had a baby...but prior to that I also had a belly that had friends and strangers asking if I were pregnant on five separate occasions. I am relatively petite aside from that. I weigh 135 and am 5'2. Now that I've had a baby I can tell some of it is loose skin and the rest is something inside me. I used to binge drink before I was raw. I have been mostly raw for the past year

Here is a link to testimonials about Tonya's cream. A woman with bad eczema had it totally cleared up. Tonya is clear to say a raw diet is the most helpful. Also, I have another thought. I breast feed my baby and have noticed with interest how my diet affects my milk, and in turn, my baby. When I would cheat on my diet and eat anything with dairy in it, he became stuffy and his skin broke

Tamuhka, Thanks. Which B vitamins, do you know? What are good food sources of those? I had also read that your nails are a window to your internal health, so that's why I was concerned.

I love Aubrey products. I get dandruff from most shampoos, even "natural" ones, but Aubrey products are one of very few that won't irritate my scalp. I used their sensitive skin facial cleansing stuff and moisturizer and could see a noticeable improvement in my skin texture, though I did not have acne, just sensitive skin. Tonya Zavasta is a raw foodist who makes her own brand of fac

I have been cleaning more often lately...maybe that is contributing. But I always try to use natural cleaners. I don't moisturize. How did the MSM affect your nails? Did you notice any difference? After I get some input from a few people, I will use trial and error to see what helps My problem seems to be coming from the inside, rather than an external factor, but I don't know...

Hello all, I've noticed my nails flake and are brittle at the part that extends past my finger tips. I have unsightly humps (horizontal across my nails on my thumbs. I also have vertical ridges along all of my nails. Am I lacking something in my diet? Omega fats? MSM? Something else? My nails used to be much healthier.

A quote from your link on MSM: " MSM combines with toxins in the body, facilitating their removal via urination" Maybe this is contributing?

I think I probably missed the summation of your green smoothie fast. How did it go? I am thinking of doing it. I feel so good after my morning smoothie! I'm nursing a baby so can anyone see a problem with me consuming only green smoothies? Anything else I should add to a temporary diet like that?

I should add that I should not have characterized mothers with a few kids and careers as thinking of kids as a nuisance. Actually, its more that they made a conscious decision to limit the number of kids they have because either their career was more important to them, or they realized they couldn't have both. I'm sure those moms love their kids too. But my point was it's a matter of priorities,

In regards to the post about kids and education level: Career-minded women are more likely to view children as a nuisance. Why shouldn't they since careers and children are not very compatible. Women who want children and want to be the primary influence in that child's life (instead of delegating it to television, babysitters, day care, etc), would be less likely to invest a lot of time away fr

Hi all, My husband and son go back and forth with raw foods but want to eat vegan. I was not vegetarian before coming to raw foods, so I never learned how to make cooked vegan dishes. Can you all recommend a cooked vegan cookbook that is based on whole foods? As in one that doesn't use tofu or processed vegan ingredients? Seems like a lot of vegan cookbooks rely on tofu and tempeh and seitan a

G.T.'s Kombucha gives me a slight buzz and warm feeling. The bottle says it contains less than .5 percent alcohol, but I doubt it. It feels like there is more. I think it's great for someone who is craving a beer. Don't know how it would do for your insides. How do you do with a little alcohol? Though I would think the drink itself would be more alkalizing than beer or wine, but I don't know

As far as proper food combining goes, how long should I wait to eat between meals? I'm not eating mono meals yet, but am observing correct food group combining (ie eating sweet fruits together, citrus fruits together, etc...)

Jodi, Thanks for the advice! Someone who lives nearby us lost their house recently to a fire started by an electric blanket. Their house was all wood and went up in flames real quick. We are friends with a local fireman and so we hear the details like this! So it's good you take precautions! Do you go so far as to cover your seeds or seedlings with plastic covered cages to protect them from

Irene, Thanks for the warning. We'd heard about that, but our railroad ties are about 200 years old, so we assumed they've done what leaching they are going to do. Or am I wrong about that? Some of them are in fact rotted out in the middle, so maybe that's a sign they have lost a lot of that tar? Tanawana, What a great idea! Why didn't I think of that? All the bookstores in my area are

Jodi, As of right now we have the equivalent of twelve 4x4's. We made the bed frames out of old railroad ties that we had laying around and only had enough to make 3 4x16 foot beds. I am a little worried that I am losing side access to the area in the middle, but we don't have much choice because we barely have any extra money. Which crops did you grow? Did you start from seed or use transplan

Great attitude, rawsun. Let us know how your pregnancy and birth go. I forgot to mention that moving was critical for me. It hurt the most to do that, but it helped me dilate. My midwife put her hands on my hips and forced me to sway through the contractions. Towards the end I was so stiff and tense and refused to move...probably adding hours to my labor. Next time I will move no matter what!

I am starting a square foot garden this season and am looking for advice from raw foodists....do any of you have any recommendations of how much and what to plant? The recommendations in the book are directed towards the typical American. The author recommends 3 four foot square plots to supply all of a persons' vegetable needs. I imagine us raw foodists would eat much more, right? How many 4 foo

Haha! That's funny because I thought the same thing. I had really painful periods so I thought I could handle labor--what a joke!! My periods were so painful I'd have to take 4 advil every four hours for pain (but discovered fresh pineapple took away my pain when I ate raw--search for my thread on that topic if you have painful periods. Sadly pinapple did nothing for the labor pains). I thought

My concern, I guess, is that a few raw food leaders are saying you can have a pain free birth except for 10 to 15 minutes of real pain at the end (Jinjee says this in her ebook, "Raw Pregnancy, Ecstatic Birth,", and that other raw fooders may go into pregnancy unprepared for the reality of the whole experience. Now, I wasn't all raw, but I ate enough raw to think it was going to save me

Also I forgot to add that I would've benefited from exercise..that's another thing I probably should've done more of. I wasn't sedentary, but I needed to build my strength! I also wish I was more focused on my coming prize--the baby-- during labor. I had forgotten the miracle of life that was coming. Oh sure, I knew I was having a baby, but forgot the awe and the joy that would follow when I had

Sonja, What an inspiring article! After a year and a half of trying to get pregnant, I went raw for a few months and two weeks after my husband started eating raw, I was pregnant. There was no doubt in my mind that I was going to have a raw pregnancy, since I believe the diet helped us get pregnant in the first place. I ate lots of fresh veggies and fruit but then a few weeks into pregnanc
