Has anyone built an earth-friendly home? Do you know anyone with them? My dream home would be either a log cabin or something like this: I'm moving to another apartment at the end of April and will be leaving Minnesota a year after that. At that time, I would like to live somewhere where a home, like in the above link, would be possible. Any suggestions? What's your dream home lik

I suffer from this, too. It's incredibly annoying. Even not eating would give me heartburn. Taking Pepcid Complete every day, twice a day makes me cringe for all the metal detox that I'm going to go through later on. QuoteI think its more the foods that are omitted that cause the acid reflux rather than the raw food diet. I never thought of it that way. I think the tendancy is to think

I was thinking a combination of almond milk and banana would be yummy and cost effective. Meaning 1 cup of almond milk, and one banana blended. -DaveK Sounds great to me! Throw in a little cacao and I'll be right over! (Love chocolate and banana together!)

lovekk, You have good advice here. Take your time to transition into raw foods. Do it your way, in your time. There are no raw food police and this isn't an all-or-nothing deal. That, to me, is really great! When it comes to other "diets" or medication, you have to be very precise and there is rarely margin for error. Not with raw foods! You can do this at a level and pace tha

Do you think durians have a different flavor to someone on who eats SAD as opposed to someone who is 100% raw? Meaning, to someone who eats SAD, they're taste buds don't like it because it's not used to it. As to where someone who eats raw food might like it more because of the raw food lifestyle and their taste buds have changed to like such foods? I haven't tried it, but I know that I won't

Welcome ellejay! As far as soy goes, in my opinion, you don't need it. I was a soy addict myself for awhile until I learned that there isn't any natural soy left. It's ALL been genetically modified in some way. That was enough to stop my love of soy. As alternatives, for smoothies, you can make nut milks very quickly and easily! Here's a video from that shows you how quick and easy it

rost0037, I understand why you'd be confused. For me, I can't be only 50% (or partially) raw. When I am, my gut really hurts because of the cooked food. It seems to be an all or nothing thing when it comes to my body. Perhaps because I've always been an all or nothing person in many areas of my life. Do it with your whole heart or don't do it at all. So, for integrity's sake, I've de

David, thanks for the kindness. I think one of the reasons I withdrew, aside from the weight gain, was because I felt like a stranger in a foreign land (in America). I always looked at difficulties, trials, conflicts and hardships with a mindset of, "how can I grow from this?" After all, we tend to learn more from failures than we do success. After a difficult time, I learned the le

GypsyArdor, it's good to see you again! I haven't made up my mind if I'll be 100% organic yet or not. I'd like to, I just wonder if it will always be possible. Budget-wise, I have nothing else I can cut back on. I'm as scaled back as it gets without cutting out the internet. No television, stereo, car, microwave, dishwasher, or even a toaster! I don't own a single remote control! I have

How about both? I'm with maui_butterfly. I will stay away from anything cooked. I feel really horrible after eating any cooked foods. For me, this is about being raw. However, I don't consider myself a purist. I intend to eat God-made food instead of man-made food. Period. If it's a natural food and it can be eaten raw, it's on the menu. (Except onions, cuz they're just really, rea

Are Goji Berries the be-all, end-all, in nutrition? Is cacao the food of the gods? I admit it. I'm gullible in my newness to the raw food lifestyle. I don't know what to believe. I know I will learn as I walk my own path in it, but I'd love to be able to see through the lies and the hype of authors and gurus! So, before I go out and buy a 50lb sack of flax, a year's emergency rations of

Go to YouTube, type "Fruitarian Fitness (Part 1)" in the search bar and watch the full 4:48 video. Then move on to Part 2 and Part 3. Now, keep in mind this guy only eats fruit! I haven't said much about MY raw journey here lately, because, well, I haven't started it yet. I had cooked food commitments that I felt were very important to keep because I made them before I took interest in going raw. I did have five straight days in which I went raw and felt AMAZING! However, when I went back to cooked foods, I hurt big-time! I decided not to try to stay raw until afte

There have been threads comparing people's daily food intake and the variety of ways people live their own raw foods lifestyle. There have been threads that have generically discussed costs, too, but I thought it would be interesting to have a thread where people could lay out what their food budget looks like. Everyone's budget, and the price of food, varies, but we may be able to glean some t

rost, I've been a hermit for about seven years and I'm just starting to break out of it. It's weird because I used to be very social. There's a group of us in the apartment complex that I live in who know each other and gather in the building for chats, but I really have nothing in common with them. Other than that, the people at work are as MinnesOtan as it gets! frances, Hotdish can me

Thanks frances. I'm not discouraged, it just surprised me. Fruit and almonds. Who doesn't like them? But, as I said, it really takes a conscious, deliberate mindset to eat raw. One lady really likes it and said, "It's like eating a smoothie with a fork!"
