I am just wondering some of your opinions on this I know the modern day raw food movement took off with Viktoras Kulvinakas book Survival in the 21 first century. I read many books years ago by Edmond Szekely and he had a place in the 50s in Mexico that was mainly raw food but he himself was not. Another one is Arnold Ehret and many others that came from Germany or came to the states at the

Kohlrabi You forgot cherimoyas. 1.7 grams out of 100 7% calories from protien kohlrabi also has 1.7 grams out of 100 15% calories from protein human milk or mothers 1.6 grams out of 100 I think it is about 10% protien When they say 3 to 5 % they are talking about the breakdown of carbs, fats and protein that is my guess. From as long as I can remember and way before little babies

Kohlrabi wrote Being tired all the time is a good indication of lack of protein. I don't want to get into whether or not she actually did have a protein deficiency, but I do want to get into this: Should she listen to her body and start eating more protein, or should she listen to the advice to just eat more vegetables? There may be many factors for someone to be tired all the ti

Rawgosia said it all don't worry about a protien deficiency. I agree as long as you eat enough to satisfy your everyday needs you should have no problem but if you decide to live on air then that is a different story. I have been hearing about a protien deficiency for thirty three years when I first became a Vegetarian I was told that I might get a protien deficiency and when I became a Veg

I will third that and say fruit is the best alternative to grains especially ripe bananas. Remember fruit is natural not processed with all the fiber and other good things added. I have been eating mostly fruit for the last 6 years and have more energy now and my endurance when running compared to 25 years ago amazed me. When I replaced grains for fruit it made a big difference. Love

I think all of us are searching for that place or call it garden of eden, paradise maybe even nirvana whatever. There are a lot of good things and bad things wherever you go but the main thing is to go and search the the suggestions you recieved are pretty good. You could make a case for central Florida or Northern California the Northwest part of the USA and Canada is stunning in scenery and

I have never been there during cherry season almost everytime I traveled to that part of California was in late summer. My wife just told me the stone pestle is the best and that is with she uses even with a wooden mortar but you may have a hard time finding that combination it in the states. So I think what Brome said is about the harder the better is good especially for flaxseeds. The coffee grinders are about the same price and easier to find but check out any Asian store and compare for yourself the big

I agree a coffee grinder is the best for flaxseed and some spices, but if you are mixing a variety of things together hot peppers, garlic a big wooden mortle and pestle is great that is the main thing my wife uses to make my papaya somtams and many other simple raw food dishes. Flaxseed is a little harder then most seeds like coriander or sesame, cumin ect so the coffee grinder is the best. Y

There are a lot of foods I eat that you can find just so much info on like dragon fruit or in Florida there are cocoplums, suriname cherries and the nut inside of the cocoplum which was a main food for the native americans in the area before the invasion 512 years ago. Plenty of wild greens I can think of and even palm fruits that taste pretty good but you would have to eat quite a bit to get fu

There is plenty of saturated fat in bananas and also guavas have a good amount but under 10% so you can get saturated and every other fat there is just from fruit but not a very high amount. Also coconut water has a little and I just got done eating a golden pillow durian or (Montoung) and anything that taste that good has to be loaded with some fat but there is no info what kind it is. Actually the more active you are the the more carbs you need not fat. Too much fat slows me down I have more energy on the 10% or less fat. I am not saying I dont eat fat just not everyday tommorrow will be a day I eat some fat maybe twice a week this time of year and it will be my favorite sweet fat durian. Forget the oil stick with the fruits. Cherimoya

I grew up in South Florida and during the winter always consumed a lot of oranges, grapefruits and in the summer mangos galore and got my share of cavities just like every other kid I was eating a lot of cooked food. I still do consume a lot of fruit in season but now after every fruit meal I floss and brush more then when I was a kid.I went to Dentist about 2 years ago for a check up and he said

I never tried to sprout them for 7 days because beyond 3 or 4 days you have to rinse them a lot and they seem to go bad or sure smell like they are going bad and in all the times over the years of eating garbanzo sprouts 2 days is all I do they taste best for me that way. Cherimoya

Some people have a problem with raw garbanzos sprouted if and when I do eat them I will soak them for 24 hours then let them sprout a little for another 24. I think Rawheadrex had it correct in the last sentence as for India and chick peas I am there right now and they do make use of it a lot but I have not had any here yet just mainly fruit. Cherimoya

When ever I get cramps in my legs it is because my intake of potassium and sodium is low or depleted from to much exercise and sweat in the hot Sun. It happens to me very rarely now since I eat a lot of bananas and get plenty of water especially coconut water before I do any exercise in hot weather as for sodium there are many sodium rich foods like the greens you eat and celery but try some coc
