No! TEN trays is best: ;-) Or, if you've got more money, 12 trays is better: I have the D10 and really like it. Stainless steel is way nicer than plastic, and will last longer (the plastic gets brittel after a few years). Cheers, Ian.

Hi Janie, That looks like an awesome crock! I'm jealous! Hmmmmm, crock envy! Anyway, I never bother about measuring things. My fav. recipe goes something like this: 1 small green cabbage 1 large red cabbage a few carrots 1 medium onion a few cloves of garlic salt Pretty much everything other than the cabbage is optional. Chop up the veggies. The cabbage can be toughly chop

I've found fresh garbanzos (in there pods) in hispanic markets, organic grossers, farmers market and middle-eastern markets. In both loose and repacked form. You want to get the ones with the greenest shells/pods. As the pod turns yellow, the bean get starchier in taste (which I don't like). Cheers, Ian.

Hiu Julie, I took a shot at answering some of questions: > 3. I know fresh is always best, but what about > frozen? Commerical frozen foods will have been blanched before freezing and packaging and won't be raw. > 4. Does anyone have snappy comebacks for people > who make negative comments about your decision to > eat raw? (I've already had to deal with this.)

Frozen foods sold commercially are normally blanched (boiled), so they are not raw. If you freeze them yourself without blanching them, then they will be raw. Although fresh is better than frozen, of course. Hope this helps. Cheers, Ian.

I normally try to eat my heavy fresh fruits/veggies early on, in the first few days of a trip. Of course, most of my trips in via kayak, so I can carry lots and lots of gear and food (and wine and champain, etc) if I wish. Have you tried dehydrated onions? These are great from adding some flavor. Also they can be rehydrated, I some times have them with seaweed. Cheers, Ian.

Hi, I would say forget the dried/strouted garbanzos, they taste aweful. I use fresh garbanzos that are still in the their shells, these are great, taste really yummy. If I can't get fresh garbanzos I just use zuccini instead. Good luck, Ian.

I seem to remember something about not being allowed to eat more than a little bit of dehydrated fruits when I was kid or I got diaherra or something like. Sorry, I don't remember the details.... actually I'm not sorry at all, I don't really want to remember things like childhood diaherra! ;-) Ian.

It's a rather small onion type thing, but tastes way better than an onion. It's got lots of flavor for it's size (like the flavor of a large onion), and since it's small it's only like eating a small part of an onion. I like onion flavor, but could never eat a whole one raw. Even when I was eating cooked foods I would always use Shallows rather than onions if they are avaliable. I normal

Hi guys, Here's what I made for dinner. A handful of Arame (Emerald Cove brand, FYI). One small/medium carrot. One small Shallow. One Avocado. A tablespoon (or how much you like) of hulled hempseeds. Soak the seaweed for 5 to 10 minutes. Juilean the carrot (I used a hand held juilean thingy, kind of like a vegitable peeler). Cube the Avo. Chop the Shollow fairly thinly. Mix all th

Hi SlimLadyRunner, I'm just going to ask the same question you just avoided answering. ****What kinds of food are you craving and succumbing to?**** There are a lot of SAD foods, but there a lot of raw foods as well. Another thing to consider is WHY. What is the reason for the craving? Energy? Entertainment? Nutrition? Figuring this out can help you plan your meals to statisfy yo

This sounds more like it's your personal preference of body types, as in asthetics, rather than a health issue. 29inch wast doesn't sound unreasonable for somebody who is 5'8, sounds fairly healthy to me. Of course, if he only weights 70lbs, there might be a problem. It seems pretty normal for weight loss at the start of a raw food diet. I wouldn't worry about personally. Ian.

You could soak the dates for a little while before to make them stickier. I'm using about 50/50 dates and nuts, sometimes i need to add more dates to get it to stick. I don't dehydrate the bars, but another option is to make fruit leathers (which are dehydrated). I'm going to play with making fruit leathers the contain nuts at something point. I think lots of fun things could be made that w
