i know red potatoes cooked are medium on the glycemic charts; i don't know if red are the same as purple; but yeah..pretty much i agree with what everyone else said. they aren't absorbed by the body well raw. nor do they taste good, or are easily chewed.

Well, let's be clear, it's not really natural to bodybuild -I'm talking the competition wise. Bodybuilders are also at health risks when they put on so much muscle -- there's a bunch of debate on that topic alone. I think we should limit this down to should we be able to put on a certain amount muscle easily with only 10% protein coming from a diet -- and is it different from if you were on a

..emotions and feelings are not suppressed by fatty foods. The person chooses to suppress them. Everyone out there who eats fat when they're sad is suppressing a feeling by throwing their concentration into eating -- the fat is not sending a message to the brain that says, "it's ok, you have fat in you and now you are happy." There is science behind what chewing does and what fa

"raw food" is an awfully general term; food can't be linked to causing nor curing any disease/problem per say; it's all in what the body gets on a smaller nutrient scale and how it deals with what it's receiving. So you see no one should tell you, "oh yeah, all your problems will disappear if you just stop cooking your food." it sounds silly and it is sillllyyy

nuts would be hard to digest depending on what your diet already is and how restrictive it is - it's not the flax seeds themselves (if ground) that will give trouble to everyone. 1/2 a tablespoon is 1 gram of omega-3 fatty acids there's no set RDA only an AI (adequate intake) between 1.6 and 1.1 grams a day per adult man/woman ..depending on your age and other things. flax oil can be used

umm...diet is composed of nutrients; most "detox" symptoms are usually deficiencies.. There is a reason why people discovered vitamins and minerals, calories, and carbs/fat/protein I'm pretty sure. I find to often people forget how easy it is to be deficient in something, especially calories, as most of the people that describe how they feel when they switch to raw is the effect

yams = tropical root vegetable, NOT sweet potato; though a part of the US refers to their sweet potatoes as "yams" because they are a special kind (only coming from that part of the US) sweet potato = enlarged root of a vine, not a russet potato, not a yam, but a sweet potato they do digest better when cooked, which is why early man cooked root vegetables - it's pretty much log

Yes, I've read Thrive Diet, and I haven't followed it - I dove into 80/10/10 rather then it..then adjusted it to whatever the hell my diet is now; so now I AM curious about whether his diet would work for me. I'm more interested in what Brazier DID rather then what he suggests -- he experimented with his body and how he builds muscle and burns fat. He figured out what foods help him. For me, i

I think your body is said to construct protein more efficiently if the amino acids are from more then one place - like it's building the acids as they come as blocks, rather then tearing apart a larger protein and rebuilding it, you know? But then again, when you eat anything it's always going to end up as glucose. Carbs end up as the first target of attack for energy, glucose, but do they do t

Haha I just don't know how to approach getting enough protein and how much I should need. damn, this is so difficult to figure out, who to trust, what to do what to doo. I know I don't want to follow anything.. i feel like i have to create my own plan of attack and go for it, see what happens i just need some good ideas for protein sources anywa

make sure you're getting enough calories...you really don't want your body to think it's starving if you feel bad, that might be why i definitely dropped weight quick because It was so hard to eat so many calories; and since i've learned to eat more concentrated food (with more calories) and more of it so that I try to meet my caloric needs..still trying to figure out my diet though

I'm a wee ladyy of 17. So i'm always wondering if protein will effect me or not at this age..i'm geusssinngg it might! I mean I've been building muscle, but I don't know how efficiently exactly. It's really hard to compare, because I have increased my intensity of exercise after going raw (well, 80/10/10 more specifically) - So while I have built muscle (and pretty much never feel sore.) I don

tamukha, i think you are over-simplifying studies in primates and humans. Being omnivorous does not mean you necessarily consume a large amount of meat and grains, but it allows you to have a very large scale of what you can eat - a varied diet - which is what chimpanzees do. They have an extremely varied diet, which does not just include plants. Baboons are not so much related to people..and

yeah but you would have to eat a lot of salt and salt water to die of dehydration, given it's a hot day, you've got no regular water and no shelter and you don't sweat (though that's pretty much impossible) you can die of drinking too much water; fruit has a lot of water; i'm sure if you drank a lot of water (or ate a lot of fruit) and never urinated and kept eating fruit/drinking water you wo

well, i know that; but to get all aminos in the right level in the same time is difficult with only fruit - which is why some people have said they've had trouble putting on muscle it could also be from deficient calories.. I'm trying to strike up discussion on it though, not get an answer; so while i've seen some posts on bodybuilding, i'd like to go further into it.

111. protein..
I think it's safe to say that fat, carbs, and protein all have the ability to do the same thing but weren't they grouped to specifically tackle what they are meant to do? carbs..energy fat..long term energy (storage) protein..muscle building So I think it is a little bit contradictory to say that carbs are the best at quick energy, fat is the best at storage, but protein plays no part in

yeah, but helloo, i think the point is you might need more protein then the diet is providing ...could be some argument over the key role in protein up in here; so as food will not MAKE you gain muscle, it could certainly play a role in muscle building and efficiency, as supersaurus has observed for himself raw food can cause water retention just as much as cooked food "sad" food is

oh come on. if a community is too set in their ways to acknowledge another side of something - what's the point in discussing? Oh, let's discuss how great eating an apple is. Let's discuss why the raw diet is so wonderful and the only thing ever to be accepted by all of us. The fact is, nothing is perfect, and people bring up discussion obviously because there are flaws in everything an

peaches pears and apples have double the fructose of their glucose. just saying. i think, arugula, that when you say and others say that fruit is "meant" for human beings (in large consumptions), that you don't have much proof just saying we diverged from "frugivorous" apes, considering even apes aren't completely fruit eaters and have a HUUUGE range of food (chimps do) th

apparently the most important vitamin is taken down a few notches (vitamin C) in most fruits that are juiced but the people that have done the studies say that the daily value is still over 100% daily value even if it is pasteurized i guess what the article is saying is that it also depends on what it's stored in, and for how long anyway, the big thing to ponder about would be how much

I think i don't get sick because of all the fruit that has vitamin C in it that i eat. it's usually one of the more extreme-packed (superfood, i'll say) things that causes some sort of immune response Anyway, no one here can really tell you what it is; if i were you i wo

then again, it's really hard to distinguish whether you are completely "protein type" or a "carbohydrate type" considering there is such a mix of metabolisms out there; so more people are most likely mixed, with more of a protein type, or more of a carbohydrate type. So one is probably required more then the other -- but not to extremities like 90% protein or 90% carbohydrat

i think if you blend it or steam it in some way it cuts down on the oxalic acid oxalic acid is in a lot of cruciferous vegetables though, which are recommended to take daily and a lot of i would take some blood tests ooorr see a doctor and see if it really is cutting down on your ability to absorb calcium/etc. ?
